What's something that men think is impressive, but really isn't?

Beep beep, come on traffic

Speaking of traffic, mine is when men (or boys, rather) rev their bloody engines on their cars that sound like they're about to explode. No, please, don't speed off, open the boot to your clapped out Corsa, I want to get in.

Also since going back to the gym, forgot how awful the men are there for showing off. There's this one in particular at my gym and idk if he's just mentally deranged or what but anytime he does any exercise he roars like a buffoon and I feel my vagina drying up a little more each time. It is so unnecessary. He will be easing his way through bicep curls, pretty much screaming and grunting for each one. Also has a horrifically embarassing habit of punching his chest, twice, every so often.

Give me your opinions and stories; what is something that men do that they think is impressive, but really, really isn't...

make my Saturday evening ✨

A nice man at work is always trying to be impressive with knowledge re things I already know and I do actually find it cute, like he's a little boy wanting applause, but also it's getting exhausting having to think up ways to respond that aren't a lie but also aren't snapping "I already knew that obviously" because he is nice at the end of the day.

You just join in the information giving, "Yeah, I knew that, but did you know [extra fact about it]?" He'll start to understand he's not the only one who knows stuff without you having to be horrible to him. Because someone else will be one day.

Speaking in bollocky corporate jargon - when translated it’s meaningless.
Strava - and their run, bike or swim times
Big watches
Crypto
Being promiscuous aka ‘ top shagger’

‘Babysitting ‘ their own kids. I work with a few blokes who really go on about it if they take their own children out for the day or spend time with them! Making memories, quality time etc etc!

I have a friend who is male. He's always been into a bit of bodybuilding and when younger he had a muscly chest and arms. He's now mid 70s (I'm 62) and would like to be more than friends. He brags about lifting weights and going to the gym as though he thinks it will impress me. Thing is, he's 5'4" (3" shorter than me) and only ever seems to work on arm/chest area. He has the most skinny legs and just looks out of proportion.

I think most pps on here are talking about what are referred to as 'alpha males'. I've never found this type attractive and my husband and previous boyfriends weren't alpha males.

If you like the he-man, pushy, got to be the best, need to impress everyone, fancy themselves type of man, these horrible traits come with the territory. I like quiet, gentle but strong and resilient men with depth.

There've been previous threads where women pretty much admit they can't resist 'bad boys'. I guess it's an evolutionary thing - bad boys, alpha males, whatever you call them, would be the most successful hunters, warriors etc.

Same here. Never been remotely impressed/interested in the alpha male/bad boy types, not even as a teenager and use to cringe when my friends "fell" for them, only inevitably to be let down/disappointed/shat upon by them later. I've always gone for personality rather than appearance and found that the alpha male types usually had awful personalities when you scratched under the surface.

@CoffeeCantata now that we have shops no need for the hunter instinct all that's left is the Whole attitudes of the world is lucky to have me.

In the words of Gil Scott Heron...a legend in his own mind ...great song and observation .

Exactly - but I've always found them vacuous - with no depth or anything interesting to say - and very insecure, so their partners have to be on guard all the time to stroke that ego and make sure their man doesn't feel put down, or second best.

It's the old 'dumb blonde' cliche. Sometimes very physically attractive people get so much attention and validation just by being so pretty that they don't need to develop a personality. I've come across it in both sexes. A friend was once moaning about a new DJ on the radio who she found very boring. She then saw a picture of her and she was an absolute stunner. My friend concluded (fairly or not, don't shoot the messenger!) that this was the explanation: she'd never had to make any effort to be interesting because she was so gorgeous. Disclaimer: I'm sure there are interesting stunners and boring plain people too!

Who...the fuck....does that?

You’d be surprised.
(many, many of them…)
I don’t think they realise how unimpressed we are.

But... to impress a chick do the helicopter dick. Surely?

I've only had men do it for a joke and it is quite funny imo. Are there actually men who do it in a serious way? I find that hard to believe.

This is just 100% pure facts. My God the fingering. Why do they do it. Why are you rubbing my outer labia. It hurts. If you make fun of men with small dicks, why are you expecting me to moan at your finger inside of me. Petition to ban men from using fingers, mouth only.

Def not signing your petition!! That’s how I get there… but I’m bossy with an extensive lube collection so the men I spend time with learn how to do it.

Another one - producing a tube of shit lube in with a flavour or something rash-inducing like it makes them Tracey Cox. You can splash the cash on your own perfumes but pick up some crap at the railway station Boots rather than expending some thought and research on it? Groundbreaking.
