To be utterly pissed off and fed up with this weather….

I know there’s already been loads of threads about it, so apologies for being so original but OH MY GOD!

I’m not usually a particularly whiny person and I don’t ever remember being particularly troubled by hot ( or cold!) weather before but honestly, I feel like I’m going lose my mind!

Maybe it’s combined with hot flushes or something because no one else I know seems to be struggling that much.

I was fine at first; just thought it would only be a couple of days we’d have to suck it up. We
got the fans out, ate a criminal amount of ice lollies and did as little as possible. But now it feels like it’s been a couple of weeks of non stop over 28 degree heat every day where I live. It’s also unbearably humid. Trying to clean the house is grim. I feel like I’m swimming through treacle and my brain is mush. I can’t concentrate on work, I can’t sleep at night. I am constantly uncomfortable and the house has now heated up to such an extent that no room is even close to cool.

I realise this probably sounds ridiculous but I can’t really go out in this heat. I mean I can go to work (though my office has no air con and is also grim) and I can manage the school run and the supermarket etc, but I can’t go for a walk, or run about at the park with the kids. I definitely wouldn’t want go out in town or mooch about the shops, or eat out etc. I don’t want go in the garden because it’s so hot. The swimming pool is lovely but the changing rooms are beyond the pale. There’s no way I could cope with a day out at the zoo or a theme park with the kids.

I’ve never been so hot or so uncomfortable in my life! I have lots of loose, comfortable clothes, summer shoes etc but I still feel like I want to rip my skin off!

Is it just me? Weather forecast seems to be saying 10 more days of heat wave and I could cry!

Do you think anyone in England can find an ac unit for love or money at the moment?

It’s intolerable and there’s no end in sight. I feel angry at the world because I can’t wear make up, sweat is ruining my hair and my pillows, the fan I spent £ on is no better than a budget one and I have to keep washing my swimsuit because I can only feel normal in a pool

I've just come back from a week in Turkey which was very hot, but the heat in S.E where I am is horrendous! It feels just so more thick and claggy then abroad!

We’ve had a breeze and the fan has been off today , which is giving it a rest as it’s been on non stop for weeks I think! ( day time )
I am dreading it packing up on me as it is ten years old now or something!

Some of us ladies, make up literally slides off. I have a very sweaty forehead, most ladies I know don't have that.

it’s all in the application! Use a beauty blender for foundation daub it into the skin, set with powder again pressing into the skin. An oil control setting spray can be helpful too

im sure anyway though it may not feel like it, your makeup will look fine in the heat. I’d rather do it then have a bare face whatever the weather

nope. We’re talking very fine layers. And gunge? I don’t think so. Most products these days are packed with ingredients that are good for your skin. Also you’re gonna have a layer of ‘gunge’ regardless… your SPF. Everyone has that

Suncream sweats off, not sure it's doing much really.

you can get some really good SPF face sprays that give a very fine mist. You can use them on their own or over makeup. Very important to protect your face from the sun and UV.
I think at end of day, if you love wearing makeup, you’re gonna wear it regardless of the weather - where there is a will, there is a way !

Well, the last few days have been a revelation! It’s still been around 28 degrees most days, but with a nice breeze, WAY less humidity and a reasonable temperature at night.

It’s been lovely! I feel like summer is here (rather than some kind of sweaty purgatory). We spent all day at the park with friends on Sunday. Lots of lovely running around, a game or two of rounders and a picnic. Then went to the pub for tea and sat in the garden there till late, playing cards. The kids actually slept and so did we. I have some colour in my face and a spring in my step!

I can finally open the windows, have deep cleaned the house, including all the sofa cushion covers etc as everything smelt sweaty….

My appetite has returned and I have enjoyed a fair few cold lemon beers (highly recommended).

Honestly the difference has been enormous. I am reminded that I do like summer, I just don’t like 35 degree heat and an insane amount of humidity in a country without any of the infrastructure to make life bearable.

Not sure what we’ll do next time there’s a crazy spike in temperatures as there’s no way we can afford air conditioning and I don’t want to spend my life indoors with all the windows closed and the curtains drawn.

I guess we’ll have to make a plan as I think those temperatures are going to become more common place and I’m not sure a neck fan and some decent primer is going to cut it….

The night temperature has made such a difference.

The nights have been relatively lovely but the humidity came back here today (60% and 28). I am unimpressed. Bring on the weekend.

You clearly don't understand it's not just about getting "a bit sweaty"! Some people actually get quite ill, there are health conditions and medications that make heat tolerance non existent.

Plus I get too hot even in the winter. Whenever I go outside, no matter what time of the year, I over heat. Have to wear summer clothes even in winter. So the weather we have been having is horrendous for me
