To be utterly pissed off and fed up with this weather….

I know there’s already been loads of threads about it, so apologies for being so original but OH MY GOD!

I’m not usually a particularly whiny person and I don’t ever remember being particularly troubled by hot ( or cold!) weather before but honestly, I feel like I’m going lose my mind!

Maybe it’s combined with hot flushes or something because no one else I know seems to be struggling that much.

I was fine at first; just thought it would only be a couple of days we’d have to suck it up. We
got the fans out, ate a criminal amount of ice lollies and did as little as possible. But now it feels like it’s been a couple of weeks of non stop over 28 degree heat every day where I live. It’s also unbearably humid. Trying to clean the house is grim. I feel like I’m swimming through treacle and my brain is mush. I can’t concentrate on work, I can’t sleep at night. I am constantly uncomfortable and the house has now heated up to such an extent that no room is even close to cool.

I realise this probably sounds ridiculous but I can’t really go out in this heat. I mean I can go to work (though my office has no air con and is also grim) and I can manage the school run and the supermarket etc, but I can’t go for a walk, or run about at the park with the kids. I definitely wouldn’t want go out in town or mooch about the shops, or eat out etc. I don’t want go in the garden because it’s so hot. The swimming pool is lovely but the changing rooms are beyond the pale. There’s no way I could cope with a day out at the zoo or a theme park with the kids.

I’ve never been so hot or so uncomfortable in my life! I have lots of loose, comfortable clothes, summer shoes etc but I still feel like I want to rip my skin off!

Is it just me? Weather forecast seems to be saying 10 more days of heat wave and I could cry!

I’m headed out a week tomorrow and will stay in Florida until the last week of August. We go every year and we also go during the winter months too.
I genuinely don’t think this is anywhere close to being as hot as Florida, but I accept that when you have the pools and the ocean, it does definitely feel bearable for most people.

I totally agree with you about the green. Florida is so beautiful. We are headed down to the keys to begin with, then travelling up the gulf coast and ending in the Ocala National Park avoiding all the crowds. We bring our paddle boards and spend the days on the rivers and springs. It’s the most beautiful place in the world. A little bit of summer leading up to my holiday is getting me in the vacation mood!

After I leave, I’m happy to keep my fingers crossed for temps cooling in the UK.

Oh yes, the air con is most welcome. Although it does mean you have to keep a cardi in the car! Restaurants can be Baltic!

I work in an air conditioned office, so that's fine. But I'm sick of getting up at 4am to be able to exercise the horses and dog before work.
I am a constant sweaty mess and my hay fever is awful too this year.

This heatwave apparently isn't as hot as 2 weeks ago, no red warning this time. But it feels much hotter here as we had a really good breeze last time, this time everything is just so still. and sticky.

Why cant we just have a nice dry 22 degree summer with some nice over night rain? 😄

This is it - part of the reason I'm so down is that I was running at lunchtime 3 times a week for over a year up until this. Managed fine last summer and then since the end of May it's been almost impossible to do more than once a week timed for the coolest day, because I have DS at home morning and evening.

I don't drive but I physically can't walk in this heat with my toddler. We've just done three days in the house on the trot so I got an Uber to soft play and back just to get us out. £25. Can't do it every day but it's just getting ridiculous now.

We are getting AC installed in the house but it doesn't solve the problem of outdoors!

I'm way more likely to go out in the rain than this, I can't walk at all in this weather.

I think you're right. My BIL loves scorching hot weather, and his favourite thing is slobbing around doing fuck all 😁

When I collapsed at that particular work place years ago it certainly precipitated me leaving as was unhappy there already (lack of welfare concern by the employer generally prior to this) as I was made to feel I was an inconvenience who simply didn’t take enough precautions against the heat- in fact I had been telling them for well over a week the heat was getting to me and that their broken air conditioning meant it would be medically unwise even to attempt coming into work but it was made clear I had better turn up.

The weather doesn't work like that, and it can't please everyone.😂

I’m worn out because, with underlying breathing problems, it’s exhausting me. In 1976, I was young, fit and all ok, even though this is as bad as then.

But, we can’t change the weather, so we have to bat on.

5 degrees cooler? Where abouts in the UK are you? I'm in the south east (West London) and it's forecast to be the same as today,32 degrees.

Apparently,all us hot weather wimps need to get over ourselves. Well that's what I've been told. Just stick a fan on and drink plenty of water. Yes that will definitely do the trick. Only it won't when you have to take 2 different types of medication that drastically reduces your body's ability to cool down.

East London, and it's at least 5 degrees cooler than yesterday and a thousand times nicer thanks to the cloud. I haven't sweated one drop today but I was damp and sticky all day yesterday

It’s a bit better in Essex tonight. It’s going to be hot all next week though which has annoyed me a lot!
I was hoping it might break up a bit by early next week.

Well, we've had 3 days of lovely weather up here (just outside Glasgow) and now it's bloody raining...again!!

I’d love to see some rain ! It last rained about two weeks ago here and not for long enough.

Yes, I keep getting nausea and vomiting and i was very ill on Thursday after getting back from the long walk to pick daughter up from school, but according to partner I'm a drama queen who needs to just get on with it!! I'm on medication that has completely destroyed my temperature regulation but according to him I'm a weak little drama queen

He's a prick. I'm with you - my body just isn't able to regulate temperature and I can't cool down. Hate it

Some people can handle it though. They seem to thrive in hot weather. It seems strange to me but not to them !

Just on the way home from the beach. The ocean today was really warm, and even knee deep was bath water warm. I was stunned to be honest. Never expected that in the UK!

Yep, we’re all different…I’m one of those people who feel nothing for distain for anyone uttering the words ‘It’s not the weather, you just have the wrong clothes’. Lady, it’s frickin’ 4 degrees outside.
