Haven't seen DH in clothes since Monday

My husband doesn't like the heat which means that for every day this week during the heatwave, we made an agreement that I'll been the one doing errands, nipping to the shops, and doing both morning and afternoon school runs. In return, he will ensure chores are done and cook dinner.

He works from home so therefore has had no need to leave the house.

Except, he's spent nearly a week walking around in just a pair of pants. No other clothing. He at least changes those pants daily (and sometimes twice a day), but I have not seen a t shirt on him all week nor a pair of shorts. I can't remember the last time he wore a pair of trousers.

I get that it's hot but i'm sick of the sight of his bare chest and legs. He is also bald so he looks like a giant newborn wearing a nappy.

He has somehow managed to do every work Teams call this week with the camera off.

We've also had quite a few deliveries this weekend, largely his, which I've had to run and open because he runs and hides from the window (while giggling) in case they clock he's only wearing pants.

I've asked him to put clothes on but it's fallen on deaf ears.

It's only 23 degrees today, AIBU to insist he puts some clothes on?

Hmmm, yes, I do get you @Whereareyourclothes It's not about being repulsed by someone, or 'not wanting to see your husband's body,' it's just very weird to want to walk around your house with nothing on but your underpants.

Come on, who does that in real life, apart from Homer Simpson?! 😂 It's ridiculous and no-one actually does this! As has been said, it may be his home, but it's YOURS too!

If I walked around in my bra and knickers in the house - hell, just my knickers and no bra eh, because it's only a pair of breasts - my DH would think I'd gone off my trolley!

Also though @Whereareyourclothes your DH is mugging you off. He 'doesn't like the heat so I'm doing all the errands and shopping and school runs!' Come on!

Tell him to get something on, and stop being so selfish and inconsiderate or you'll hose him down with cold water!

.

Thank you @BatchCookBabe !!

I never once said I was repulsed by his body, I said I was fed up of seeing it! If I wore the same outfit for a week on end I'm sure my husband would pass a comment on it. I know we are all supposed to adore our husbands regardless of what they do but newsflash, that isn't real life. People are allowed to be annoyed by their partners and it doesn't mean you hate them for crying out loud.

As I've mentioned, the annoying factor for me is largely that I've had to do everything that involves physical contact with the outside world!
Anyway he's back in clothes today as the house has cooled down drastically, so that's the end of that. Until next week

I think shorts are fine. But these are very much pants. They cannot be disguised as shorts in any way!

I get that it's hot but i'm sick of the sight of his bare chest and legs.
How would shorts solve that?

The dodging chores and responsibilities is a separate is a reason to be pissed off.

In your house maybe. You'd have a conniption of you saw my family this week, all in pants in front of a fan eating ice lollies. THE HORROR!!

True enough. When you live with someone though, compromises have to be made.

Why should this be his compromise though? Should he be allowed to tell her to cover up if she wants to wear sonething revealing? Why can't the compromise be that she minds her tit's as she sees fit and he minds his.

Dictating what others wear is not appropriate unless it's causing harm. He's not naked. He can put on a robe or something to get the door if there's a delivery. As long as he's not leaving skidmarks where is the harm?

Besides it's a little sad to see your SO almost naked and be repulsed. If she doesn't like seeing his body then it strikes me that the issue is much deeper than asking him to cover up.

Tresamour · Today 15:56

This is hilarious 😂. Sorry!

TheLovelinessOfDemons · Today 16:20

If I don't have to go out or answer the door, I wear nothing right now. I feel myself getting hotter than I've ever felt before if I do, and I'm not sure how safe that is. My flat is much hotter than outside. Comfort and safety are more important than appearance.

StrictlyCoffee · Today 16:22

Oh dear! YANBU but this has really made me laugh!

NeverDropYourMooncup · Today 16:33

Meh, this is the first year after many where DP, somebody who is usually in Mormon levels of coverage and dissolving into a puddle of uselessness by 9am, has decided that it's actually OK to wander round the house in nothing but a pair of long swim shorts. For reasons of sun safety, sunglasses, a t shirt and hat to cover the bare scalp went on for trips to the shop (as he decided the idea of me going and scuttling from one patch of shade to another like an oversized woodlouse was entertaining but not fair), but he's even been opening the door to the poor amazon man sweating away in his hi vis.

Maybe it's a reaching 50 thing? Like perimenopausal women who dgaf any more, men at that point realise that it really isnt that deep and if they're hot, do something about it?

DinoLil · Today 17:04

Hehehehe! I only put clothes on yesterday because I was expecting a grocery delivery! I've worn nothing but pants for days - blinds down, mind you, and I have a parcel delivery box outside so no embarrassment caused to anyone.
Unlike the time a few years ago. The Postie came really early and I wasn't dressed. I put my dressing gown on to answer the door. I have a mirror by my front door and as I shut the door, I noticed a small hole in my dressing gown and my nipple was saying hello with a little wave 👋 Hence the parcel delivery box! 😆
It's his home too. Either join him or put up. We all deal with things differently. Luckily, I live alone!

outdooryone · Today 17:06

Join him? ;-)

If you are so repulsed by your husband's nearly naked body, he probably shouldn't be your husband. I'm naked all year round 80% of the time, I only get dressed to cook, do activities with my daughter, or go out. My husband is fine with that because he likes my body.

I think there should be a law banning topless men anywhere except the beach, I feel nauseous seeing them in town.
But down to his pants - that's such a massive no.

Stelladid · Today 18:08

When it’s super hot, I try to get my 72 year old husband (so the age where heat is potentially more risky) to wear fewer clothes. He insists on a Tee shirt and trousers, though when reminded he has shorts, he will wear those. I bought him a couple of sleeveless tanks, but he insists on a sleeve and he is too hot. I’d be delighted if he opted for just underpants. Aside from anything else at 67 and 72, we still fancy each other, so it would be nice for that reason too. 😜

I hate seeing half naked men wandering around in public, but anyone should be able to choose this in their own home.

Is there any greater joy than doing what you want in your own home?

No, but some of those things should only be done if you're single!

I would also find a man wandering around in nothing but his pants for a week a turn-off. Gives off vibes of being ill or incompetent. I think that's how my subconscious would see it.

DimwittedSkater · Today 18:21

Looks like a giant baby! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Of course they should be able to choose this in their own home. But they should be aware that they are also choosing to turn their partner off.

So, are you a naturist?

Is your daughter OK with you living a naked life in front of her? Not judging, just curious.

BatFinkk · Today 18:25

I wouldn’t have this in my house and my husband wouldn’t do it. It isn’t so hot that you can’t wear shorts and a t shirt

DimwittedSkater · Today 18:28

All the people saying they wear nothing at the mo - how can you not even wear a pair of pants?? You'll be leaving faecal and urine remnants on your furniture, not to mention certain secretions. Absolutely gross. This reminds me of the Sex and the City episode where Harry sits on everything naked and it freaks Charlotte out.

Put some pants on, you slatterns! 🤣

Well, I spent most of last week working from home in just a pair of knickers, and a tiny strappy vest top that I changed anytime I needed to do a video call. I’d have been a bit annoyed if DH had told me I had to put on more clothes. I was boiling!

Yes I did all my garden watering in a strappy vest and knickers last week. The only person who can see in through the bushes is the elderly neighbour (and they shouldn’t be peeking anyway!).
