Transgender niece

My niece lives in another country and I’ve just heard that she is becoming a he. She has changed her name, is taking hormone medication and now has facial hair. She is a transgender boy. However she sees herself as a boy. AIBU to think she will never be a biological boy and to refer to her as a transgender boy? I realise this could be an emotive topic.

I have experienced a very similar situation to the OP.

My cousin's child transitioned and started taking T. She has since detransitioned as she realised (too late) that her problems were not about being 'born in the wrong body' and 'living as a man' did nothing to alleviate them.

She has significant ongoing health issues from her time taking T. The OP is absolutely right to be concerned about that.

I fully appreciate that I am not that important. But facts, truth, scientific reality, women's rights, children's safeguarding all are. It is certainly not 'manners' to undermine these crucial things. The lies may be kindly meant, but they help no one. Least of all the poor child in question.
