What's hated on MN, but insanely popular in real life?

Disney World
Starbucks, Costa, Nero etc
Center Parcs
A sensible political stance
McDonald's

What else?

Kitchen roll is a new one on me. What's wrong with kitchen roll? 😂

Kitchen roll has it's place but I do wince when my friends or my mum spills an entire bottle of wine or milk then proceeds to use 28 sheets to dab it up rather than just grabbing a mop or a tea towel that can go in the washing machine - I hate the waste and it's going to a landfill 😩 .

Not getting into that, I’m already washing loads of face clothes every week, the kitchen roll is staying for me

What clothes does your face wear? Smile

Washing face cloths is easy and your washing them anyway. Kitchen paper is wasteful, they're bulky, they're not cheap, they're wrapped in plastic,...

Just popped back to say bar soap 😳 apparently it's gross and rank.

I've had a friend get into a right flap in my kitchen because there was no kitchen paper to wipe up some spilt milk. There was a cloth nearby.
There was kitchen paper but it was the blue industrial type so the friend didn't resister it as 'kitchen paper'.

Ummmmm… WTA with En-suites?! What am I missing with that one?! 🤷🏼‍♀️….

….. ( as I go into mine to clean it with kitchen roll 🤦‍♀️😩😹…..!)…..

BleedinglyObvious · Today 13:03

@Sisublondie , bedroom cupboard your DH/DP poos in.

Ahhhhh…… Ok….. Is that it?! Nothing more than that?! So, not having the actual room per se? So. Is it ok given that DH uses the “ Penis People” bathroom with my DSs?! Is that allowed?! 🤔

Sisublondie · Today 13:13

Is that brown recycled own brand Coop kitchen roll my DM insists on ok? I need to check if I can shove it on my compost heap..

Shower gel. Yes I like it. Soap for vagina bum area shower gel rest.

I have shower gel and liquid hand soap, but I prefer bar soap for showering and washing my hands funnily enough.

I hate liquid soap unless it's the very premium stuff. I much prefer bar soap.

Only children.

It's not a matter of being popular in RL, rather that having one child is perfectly normal.

However, according to Mumsnet, it's selfish and cruel and you are condemning your child to a lifetime of loneliness - especially when you get old then die.

Wetherspoons. Please let's not start a discussion on how nobody likes it in real life as I know plenty of people of all ages, gender, nationality, wealth etc that do. And their pina coladas are bloody lovely

Yes, this.
My miL is in a group of retired 'ladies who lunch' All well off and always very nicely dressed. They'd meet once a week at one of the fancy wine bars in town. One time hey were let down/delayed with a table at a snazzy bar and decided to pop into Spoons to wait.
They are now 'ladies who lunch' 3 times a week at Spoons 😆😆😆
We were beyond shocked when MiL told us, but in her own words... why would we pay £12 for 1 glass of wine when we can get a whole bottle for a tenner!
Can't really argue with that 🤷‍♀️

Face cloths, sorry typo. But you should have worked it out as per your username 😜

I don’t use a lot of kitcten roll, washing and drying would also have an impact to the environment

BleedinglyObvious · Today 15:31

@Fatmanscoop , I knew what you meant but couldn't resistSmile.

You probably don't and I have some myself, but some people go through several rolls a week.

I line dry everything, so it's only the washing that affects the environment.

BleedinglyObvious · Today 15:39

@TheKeatingFive , Even the premium stuff can be detergent.
This one is liquid soap Verbena Liquid Hand Soap 350ml - Glass | L'Occitane
This one is hand wash Shea Cream Hand Wash 350ml - Glass | L'Occitane
If you look at the ingredients list you'll see the difference.

It wouldn't post with the links, sorry. The shea cream hand wash has sodium laureth sulphate in it. Both are £45!

I love line drying. So satisfying

I can’t imagine going through several a week. I only use it for spillages and for getting fat out of the frying pan, and for cleaning the windows when I can be bothered

really?! So if your cut finger is hanging off you just leave it to drop off? My last wound. Before lockdown. I think A&E did dress it and send me home but it was bleeding a lot, not stopping and I was with my DM (visiting her) who told me of her own similar injury as a child on the way…

I don’t think you understand my post. I’m all for going to A & E when you need to . I was saying many Mumsnetters think you should avoid A & E at all costs, and nothing is ever a big enough reason to seek help. Of course you should go if you have a finger half hanging off!! I get fed up with keyboard warriors with no medical knowledge telling other people they are wasting NHS time. They should keep their beaks out!!
