I know many people don't like Owen Jones, but I found this article deeply disturbing.

I am a child of immigrants, and my children are mixed race. So things like this are really starting to worry me.

I completely understand why people are angry at the current rate and quality of immigration (my own family are also disgruntled with it). But Restore want to deport even those who have citizenship.

And I am genuinely concerned that things are going to get worse than Farage if the government don't get a grip on this.

We have 1 m NEETS who won't or can't work, entire generations on benefits, a rapidly aging population, but blaming immigrants is the easiest way out. And one that every political party resorts to when they can't solve bigger problems.

why not? That's exactly what my cousin did. They spent New Year's Eve at a party where she met lots of parents in the same situation and now has a whole social group based on that. It was a glamorous party in central London because of the nature of his job lots of international workers, not objecting to that at all and I don't think Restore are either

I fully appreciate that these people will often have got their jobs on merit, but perhaps we need to say they can only bring a spouse, not the whole family.

I doubt very much there were only three British graduates who met the minimum standards for the job.
The non-Brits should not have been allowed to apply until the employer had proven there were no British candidates able and willing to do the job.
My partner's American employer had to do this to enable him to get a work visa for the US after he finished his DPhil. It's an entirely normal approach to immigration.

Also the law needs changing,
If I vote for a politician and he / she becomes prime minister..that person should...by law ...be prime minister for 5 years
..no chopping and changing..unless of death or injury..
It really really pisses me of that they all swap about, squabbling amongst themselves for power ,taking attention away from important issues in UK.
They are all guilty of it .

Yep, there will be an ultra right wing government as it’s intolerable what’s going on.

This week the 18 gazans being brought over is the icing on the cake! There is uproar on social media about this.

We are a laughing stock no other country would allow this.

Same with jobs, priority needs to be given to Brits but no we are back of the queue in our own country.

That’s a disaster too.

Other countries seem to manage to see sense and put their people first for jobs and housing and not let people take the piss ,yet still allow genuine people in need to settle here ,with reasonable expectations in place ,for them..

Sometimes I think it’s a long term strategy to get a very right wing govt in power. I mean what half wits thought DEI policies would work? Now literally everything is badly run, manned by inadequate employees. It’s like a comedy of errors that we have had imposed on us by people with no functioning brains.

What we definitely need to do is stop anyone who has been elected to public office (eg Mayor of Greater Manchester) from standing for another public office (such as MP for Makerfield) before their elected term ends.

Particularly if the second role is only available because the current office holder has chosen to resign as part of internal party shenanigans that will ultimately advance his own political ambitions.

The Makerfeld by-election and the election of a new Mayor of Greater Manchester will cost taxpayers about £5 million. It's a disgraceful waste of money.

I also don't think anyone who resigns their parliamentary seat should be able to stand in the resulting by-election. More disgraceful political games from Nigel Farage.

At the time ,I'm was busy raising small autistic children and up to my eyes in nappies
I trusted the government to have the best interests of the UK in its sight .

I've only recently took an interest,..as things to do with newcomers seem to be constantly in the media
