Getting rage about this effing weather

MagdelenaMorrison · Today 17:16

I am so angry.
Typing this with yet another torrential rain downpour as we speak. Left my back door open when it was dry clear sky weather and went upstairs to put laundry away, came back down to a black sky, monsoon downpour and a flooded kitchen floor from the rain being blown into my kitchen by howling wind. This is the 4th torrential downpour of the day. All 4 monsoon like.
So far in the SE we have had 10 days straight of torrential rain and battering winds, except for a light reprieve on Sunday but even that was bloody freezing cold. Over the past week I've watched the ferocious hurricane like winds blast all my different roses in full bloom off of their stems, it's snapped all my foxgloves in half, snapped branches off my Budleia, snapped all the stems off of my Salvias, tore my 2 hanging baskets off my wall and landed them across my garden, ruined. I've had my wheelie bins blown from my driveway down the street on their sides, crashing into neighbours' cars. One of our big heavy roof tiles got ripped off by gale force winds on Saturday and landed on our drive and smashed to smithereens, thank God none of us were standing on the drive at the time. I can't hang any washing out cos it won't stop raining.
I put all our coats away during the brief mini heatwave in half term and now we're all wearing them again.
I hate, hate, hate this weather. 10 days of it in June!!!!! Summer!!!!
Just looked at the forecast for tomorrow and it's rain all day again.
I can't cope, it's making me really miserable. Our summers are already short enough as it is, without this.
We didn't even have a warm May (except for the 1 week of half term). 😤

If it makes you feel better we're on our summer holiday in Wales

I shouldn’t laugh

untamedheart · Today 17:50

My heating keeps kicking back in
I don’t even want hot, just dry and about 17c would be pleasant!

LaJacondeFumantLaPipe · Today 17:50

I am in the SE England and it's been pretty nice this afternoon. I think the weekend is meant to be really nice too. 24° and sunshine (allegedly).

We have had rain lately but it hasn't been torrential for 10 days straight here. Sorry to read that is the case with you.

Sidebeforeself · Today 17:51

North Yorkshire here ..whats that song ..Four Seasons In One Day?!

I cannot make decisions about whether to do any washing, what to wear or whether to start the gardening jobs!

Box set it is then

frozendaisy · Today 17:52

It’s a wet dream for the English past time of complaining about the weather though

At least you’re at home, I’ve brought all the wrong clothes!

Sorry everyone but i love this sort of weather.

@Twinkeltime

TemperanceWest · Today 17:53

It is very changeable where I am. It was sunny Monday and warmish so we walked to a local restaurant.

Big mistake. Got soaked on the way home.

MagdelenaMorrison · Today 17:53

I can't actually cope with the battering damaging wind. It's been slamming car doors shut, slamming my windows shut, smashing garden plant pots, damaged my roof, torn all my garden fairy lights down, destroyed plants/flowers, it makes me feel like crying because it does something to my nervous system, makes me feel really unbalanced and out of sorts, it genuinely affects my mood.
Am I abnormal?!?
Weird thing is I can deal with it all in the winter.
But not in summer.

I live on a boat, usually this time of year the cruises are lovely or if anything it’s too hot, now I’m cruising in thunderstorms, it’s shite.

Waitingfordoggo · Today 17:54

I know it’s annoying but

a) we live in the UK where changeable weather is very much the thing.

b) Changeable weather has become more frequent thanks to the climate emergency and it is likely to get more and more extreme.

We sort of have to accept that we’ve fucked the planet I’m afraid.

hairbearbunches · Today 17:55

Hate to be that person, but this is climate change and you'd better get used to it because it is only going to get worse. The rain is more intense, the heat is more intense. There is a famous quote by a climate scientist from decades ago - i can't remember his name - and he said 'we are messing with the triggers that cause climate change and the results are likely to be ferocious'.

Buckle up, people. And stay lucky.

I got up this morning and the heating was on and was like wtf it’s June !!

LaJacondeFumantLaPipe · Today 18:01

Pps are correct - it is probably due to climate change, and is something we need to adapt and adjust to as there is no going back, which is obviously incredibly sad.

Happyjoe · Today 18:04

British summers for you. We are a reasonably rainy country, quite famous for it! We've just had a couple of good ones ones running up to this year but this is more the norm for the UK. I presume that's why talking about the weather is a top topic!

Swiftie1878 · Today 18:05

Boomer55 · Today 17:34

It’s going to improve next eeek, at least in the South, but this is typical British weather. 🤷‍♀️

This is not typical at all!
Four seasons in one day, every day, for 10 straight days in JUNE?!

Anewuser · Today 18:07

I’m with you OP, although maybe not quite so raging.

I work in school so am on the playground break time and field lunchtime. I have to take out my umbrella and sunglasses because the weather can’t decide what to do, and my coat is on and off the whole time.

This is April weather with the cold and heavy showers.

I’m SE as well but we had the most beautiful double rainbow night before last, when I walked the dog. I got absolutely drenched but did get a few great photos.

FFS, we had 33 degrees in May. That is still Spring!. There are countless articles about the El Nino effect this year and next. If it's as bad as they say it's got the potential to be, we're in really big trouble. I don't wish to be rude but wake the fuck up!

Waitingfordoggo · Today 18:18

@Cherrytree86 I expect the poster was referring to some of the blistering heatwaves we’ve had in the past ten years or so.

Horses7 · Today 18:18

I totally agree OP and what makes it worse is I was on holiday abroad ( it was very hot and sunny abroad) for that one gorgeous week in May…. that really rubbed salt into the wound 🤣

ZenNudist · Today 18:20

Are you new to the UK? It always rains in June.

It's roasting over the weekend in London

Gardeningsideeffects · Today 18:26

I'm making the most of it before my neighbour eats every meal out of his firepit for the whole weekend once it goes warm this weekend.

My house will stink of smoke as will my washing.

If it was a charcoal bbq that would be fine. But it's green wood burning in a firepit twice a day.

Otherwise op it's hot from Saturday.
