Getting rage about this effing weather

MagdelenaMorrison · Today 17:16

I am so angry.
Typing this with yet another torrential rain downpour as we speak. Left my back door open when it was dry clear sky weather and went upstairs to put laundry away, came back down to a black sky, monsoon downpour and a flooded kitchen floor from the rain being blown into my kitchen by howling wind. This is the 4th torrential downpour of the day. All 4 monsoon like.
So far in the SE we have had 10 days straight of torrential rain and battering winds, except for a light reprieve on Sunday but even that was bloody freezing cold. Over the past week I've watched the ferocious hurricane like winds blast all my different roses in full bloom off of their stems, it's snapped all my foxgloves in half, snapped branches off my Budleia, snapped all the stems off of my Salvias, tore my 2 hanging baskets off my wall and landed them across my garden, ruined. I've had my wheelie bins blown from my driveway down the street on their sides, crashing into neighbours' cars. One of our big heavy roof tiles got ripped off by gale force winds on Saturday and landed on our drive and smashed to smithereens, thank God none of us were standing on the drive at the time. I can't hang any washing out cos it won't stop raining.
I put all our coats away during the brief mini heatwave in half term and now we're all wearing them again.
I hate, hate, hate this weather. 10 days of it in June!!!!! Summer!!!!
Just looked at the forecast for tomorrow and it's rain all day again.
I can't cope, it's making me really miserable. Our summers are already short enough as it is, without this.
We didn't even have a warm May (except for the 1 week of half term). 😤

If it makes you feel better we're on our summer holiday in Wales

Larrythecatforpm · Today 17:21

If it makes you feel better the weather starts picking back up on Sunday.

PrueRamsay · Today 17:21

I’m fucking freezing and keep muttering about putting the heating back on.

60andcounting · Today 17:23

I understand, but you might as well be disappointed that the sky is blue.

Mindia · Today 17:24

We were going away in the caravan this last Monday, we now hope to go Friday as there looks like a bit of improvement and Saturday onwards looks nice

outdooryone · Today 17:25

I'm 10 days into 16 days cycling in Ireland. Every single day has seen battering rain storms and huge winds. I've had hail. I've had cold enough to see my breath (4*c yesterday breakfast....). Cycle touring always has effort, low-points and tiredness, but this is off the scale.
Even the locals and pissed off and hoping for better. Apparently it's been as much rain this last 10 days as they get in a month...
I've decided to change course and head home early on the train...and that's my main holiday gone. :-(

MathsandStats · Today 17:25

It's making me really miserable. Also SE. So far we've had a May so cold half my veg plants died in the frost, followed by a week so hot I didn't know what to do with myself. Since then, torrential rain, gales, and I'm back bundled up in coats every time I go out. I keep sitting at home under the duvet and thinking I can't possibly put the heating on in June!

Every time I look at the weather forecast it shows it as sunnier and warmer in a couple of days. Then a couple of days arrives and it shows torrential rain all day again, and the nicer weather has shifted to 2 or 3 days time.

I keep saying to people would it be too much to ask for just one or two reasonably warm, reasonably sunny days? Apparently so.

Danikm151 · Today 17:26

Hailstones in Brum today!

PencilsInSpace · Today 17:28

The SE is a big place. In my bit we've had one day of steady rain and the odd not very heavy shower since. I'm glad of it after the incredibly dry spring we had. Today we were forecast rain all day and we've only had a few spots, not enough to wet the ground. Tomorrow looks more likely but it so often seems to miss us here.

Sorry it's battered your garden though, hope it recovers. It's supposed to get warm and sunny from the weekend.

MrsPapillon · Today 17:32

We’ve had hail stones, two lots of thunder/lightning and torrential rail here today, and now the sun is shining (probably for ten minutes until it all starts again. People keep saying it’s going to get better at the weekend but apart from a small rise in temperature, it’s still forecast rain here all next week.

PrincessOfPreschool · Today 17:33

@PencilsInSpace, that's so strange. I'm on the edge of Essex/ London and been like the OP's weather. Today there was a huge thunderclap when the sky was blue and sun shining. I went to pick up DS from the station and it then took about 30 minutes for the downpour to start (he could've walked). It da huge downpour (sometimes this week there have been hailstones). It's now sunny again!!

Boomer55 · Today 17:34

It’s going to improve next eeek, at least in the South, but this is typical British weather. 🤷‍♀️

Idstillratherbepaddleboarding · Today 17:36

We’ve had hail stones today too 😵.

mondaytosunday · Today 17:38

We had very sunny hot weather over half term and much needed rain now. Next week forecast dry and warmer. Isn’t that just what weather does?

socks1107 · Today 17:38

Winter duvet is back on here! But the improvement forecasted from weekend I think has been downgraded from what I’m reading.
forecasting a lovely 23 degrees in the Kent London boarder at the moment. That’s absolutely perfect so hope it happens!

BillyBalls · Today 17:38

Yes it’s absolute shite. But, I feel like we’ve had pretty decent April-Septembers for a good few years now. So apparently we’re overdue for non stop crap weather

Bubblewrapart · Today 17:39

Maybe this will help....

Totallyfrazzledmum · Today 17:39

Agree awful - laundry ruined 2 days in a row. Heating is on and can’t go to the park- basically like January although a couple of hours bright sky. Makes me feel ill, this is more early spring weather so feels shocking.

Same. Only Yorkshire Dales, the weather is forecast to improve just as we go home.

MagdelenaMorrison · Today 17:40

I'm so angry. I'm incandescent.
I've just been up to the loft and it's leaking now with the insane monsoon rain going on as we speak, leaking through the roof from where the gales ripped the tile off the roof on Saturday.
For fucks sake. It's fucking JUNE.
I'm in my winter thick chunky jumper, trousers and socks.
Oh yeah someone mentioned hail - I forgot about that, yes, 2 big hail storms last week! I couldn't believe my eyes!

I don't think that level of anger over the weather is normal or healthy tbh, to coin a much hated phrase, it is what it is.

Larrythecatforpm · Today 17:21

If it makes you feel better the weather starts picking back up on Sunday.

For a few days then it’s unsettled again

RaraRachael · Today 17:43

It's nice in NE Scotland 😄

Nourishinghandcream · Today 17:46

Mid-central south, we keep getting threats of rain and indeed the clouds float across the sky but meaningful, lasting rain....... we are not having a huge amount.☹️
Hasn't been cold, patio doors are open most of the time to let Ddogs run in & out and neither of us have even mentioned the heating.
Garden, countryside & wildlife were begging for some rain after one of the dryest Springs on record (just like last year) and the early heatwave was just horrible. Walking Ddogs earlier today and there are still huge long cracks in the soil caused by the lack of water, have to be careful that Ddogs don't get a paw caught.

Promised a good downpour tomorrow.☔🤞

Twinkeltime · Today 17:48

Sorry everyone but i love this sort of weather.
