What popular places are overrated?

Following on from another thread, what places do you consider overrated that are popular?

Hotel Chocolat = over priced, at best average tasting, would much rather Cadbury's at a fraction of the price.

Amorino = our local one gets packed, as in queue's outside the shop packed. Over priced, very average ice cream, that they seem to be able to charge a premium for because you can mix flavors and it's a cue little flower shape.

Dominoes, Pappa Johns, Pizza Hut = unless there is a deal on very expensive for what tastes very processed pizza.

I love Pisa
It's a proper working town with so much that the tourists don't see because they're too focused on the leaning tower.

Absolutely this. It's actually one of my favourite places in Italy. I suppose we should continue to keep it a bit of a secret (apart from the tower)!

Restaurant pizza. £12-18 for a lump of bread, burnt on the outside and gloopy in the middle, with a tiny smear of tomato paste and the meanest scattering of toppings.

SunnyRedSnail · Today 15:20

@coulditbeme2323 I like hotel chocolate! Cadbury has a really odd aftertaste nowadays. Didn't used to!

I'm going to be controversial here and say Apple Products e.g. iPhone, iPad. There is nothing wrong with them but you can get products that do exactly the same for a lot less money. You don't get anything extra for your money and are paying for a brand name. I was so underwhelmed with my iPad!!! It became really slow after a few years too!

I found Dubai over-rated. It felt soulless.

London is also over-rated. My kids preferred Bristol!

Two places I have worked are on the thread 😂.

Omg it might be you that's ruining things for everyone 😂

Franco Manca pizza restaurants. The whole place and food. Not for me at all. The pizzas do not taste anything to write home about.

It is parts like Richmond or the Westbourne Grove shopping/cafe stretch in Notting Hill, or Hampstead Heath, or Holland park that are the things that make London lovely.

Not really much appeal in central London at all imo.

I totally agree - also Highgate waterlow park ally pally highgate woods park walk kings X regents park marylebone highstreet canal walk from little venice to kings x ....
along the river to battersea power station

Pretty much.

Lake Como is nice(ish). Still ridiculously hard to get into the water without paying to go on a private pontoon. See also Sorrento. Really pisses me off.

Edited

You've visited two of the most touristy places. You can't judge a whole country based on that, especially dare I say Italy.

I love Disney World in Florida and would go again and again if we could afford to. I think it’s better with older dc though and in the (somewhat) cooler months.

I was extremely underwhelmed by ‘Miller and Carter‘, I have no idea why it’s so popular.

The Toby Carvery of steak restaurants.

Miller and Carter is the working class idea of a posh restaurant.

Betty's Tea Rooms
London
Basically every restaurant and take away these days
Marks and Spencer

Disagree on London and marks and Spencer. London is one of the liveliest and multicultural city with a lot to offer. I like M&S food and recently bought their night wears, so soft and comfy. They have also massively improved their clothing range.

I like Christmas, but expensive and busy 😬.

I love Brighton. Also Paris is a massive city, so I don't think you can reasonably class it as "overrated". It's like when people say "London". Well which bits? The Shard? M&M World? Brixton? The Tate? Wanstead? Theydon Bois?

Never been at Christmas, but staff have told us how manic it gets.

So one of the worlds most cosmopolitan, diverse, historic, artistic, cultured cities is overrated?

I agree with you. Don’t understand this hate of London.

HC is far better than Cadburys.
Packaging is aimed at gifts.
Cadburys doesn't do the high % dark that HC does.

Those are 2 examples, I've been to plenty more. I've really tried to like it! But it's not for me.

Legoland.
It's built on the side of a steep hill. Who on earth thought that was a good idea?

Also where have you been in London? As, yeah, Trafalgar Square is hectic but it's just one place. It's a massive city. I love London but I personally think Borough Market is a bit shite (accept others will disagree!). If I only visited there I might not love it.

Never been at Christmas, but staff have told us how manic it gets.

30 years ago we were in Florida and on New Years Eve we were told to select a park because they close them down foe a few hours because they're at capacity and you can't move to another one.
