Really Hello Fresh? Jumping on the Pride bandwagon and promoting your high fibre offering to gay men? Utterly grim.

OP posts:

Lots of ads are deliberately repulsive at the moment, because that's a good way of lodging them in your brain. The worst offender is that ad for Gaviscon (or some other indigestion aid) that has people singing and miming about diarrhoea. Several toilet paper ads are repulsive in a similar way.

All evidence of civilisation going down the toilet, as t'were.

NiftyGreenBiscuit · 08/06/2026 10:00

Yuck. 🤢 just yuck

Looool. Young children won't understand it. But I don't want to awkwardly swerve the truth when my 7 year old reads it and asks what it means. It's just not content that needs to be put in front of them

Why would your seven year old be on social media to see it?

All you say is “we need to eat fibre to stop our tummies being poorly”

Completely different.

Those products are quite obviously poo related.

Food shouldn't be (although obviously there's a biological connection, it's really not what you want to be thinking about when eating!)

It's great marketing. I bet everyone on this thread has just given the company about 10 times as much headspace as you normally would. Well done Hello Fresh, and all of us helping to make them relevant by posting on this thread!

But is it the right kind of headspace?

My reaction was to cancel my subscription.

Lots of people heard of Bud Light but that didn't help their bottom line did it? (Pun unintended...)

Dollymylove · 08/06/2026 10:11

Seriously? Are gay men not capable of sorting out their own erŕrm...."needs"?
Do the rest of us really need to know about it?

ThatBlackCat · 08/06/2026 10:15

What gets me is that July is Disability Month. Will Hello Fresh and other corporates do anything for that? Like fucken hell will they!!!

Bud is a great example.

Gillette lost so much money with their woke advertising campaign that they took a massive write down of the brand on the balance sheet and then sold it. My husband still won't buy anything Gillette, years later.

Darlia96 · 08/06/2026 10:16

Ah. I'm glad to hear it's only social media. I thought it was a whole TV / Billboard campaign.

It's just inappropriate ! 99% of the time I like tongue in cheek humour but this misses the mark for me

AmethystDeceiver · 08/06/2026 10:24

LasersInTheJungle · 08/06/2026 09:46

Yes, but that headspace, in my case, has been used to change HF from a "maybe try in future, compare with Gousto" to a "poo emoji" in my brain....

You are but one person! There are lots of us who might not have thought about HF at all, but now have that awareness.

The advert doesn't bother me in the slightest, but it is a great piece of marketing obviously, as look at us all chattering away about HF this morning 😀

Some of you might be so disgusted that you will never ever ever buy HF again. Some of you might now have a little bit of HF lodged in your conciousness, and may find that an idle google means it's following your around the internet with ever increasing offers etc.

Well done OP for starting the thread if you do work for them!

MrCollinsandhisboiledpotatoes · 08/06/2026 10:25

I think it's absolutely gross and I just don't like the whole vibe. I actually think it's quite homophobic.

I have used hello fresh before. Won't be using them again

MrCollinsandhisboiledpotatoes · 08/06/2026 10:28

ghostofchristmaspasta · 08/06/2026 09:13

I can’t get offended by that, it’s quite funny. It’s nice to see LGBTQ+ matters being talked about openly, even if it is in a silly way.

Are people really that offended by the concept of gay sex in 2026?

I'm quite offended by reducing pride month down to clearing out your bowels ready for all the anal sex. I think it's homophobic.

I wouldn’t get too excited nor the marketing team. Brand association is still relevant and poo and food don’t mix.

How much of a snowflake is he? Oh no they did a woke advert I won't buy their razors.

Not drinking bud light I understand. It's basically pish

Shoola · 08/06/2026 10:32

aperolspritzbasicbitch · 08/06/2026 09:32

It made me laugh.
i don’t find it massively offensive, but I’m also not gay, so would be happy to be educated should the gay community find it to be.

i’ve used hello fresh on and off a couple of times, never had any issues with quality, and not at all concerned with the meat being halal.

I don't think the gay community is a homogenous lump that can educate you on how to think. You might have to take your own view on this one.

PoundShopPabloEscobar · 08/06/2026 10:33

TempestTost · 08/06/2026 03:09

The concept is that gay men are kind of slutty and care more about sex than diet.

Ah, now I was thinking the no eating was a reference to drugs.

(Also a reason to clear the bowels before the party!)

WheretheFishesareFrightening · 08/06/2026 09:29

Only in British English…

But I don’t really want to think about shitting or shagging when thinking about what I’m going to have for tea this week - so it is off putting.

Which is where this company are advertising and delivering.

They're not called 'Howdy Fresh'

IMakeCrapCakes · 08/06/2026 10:35

ClayPotaLot · 07/06/2026 23:16

I think that’s brilliant.

I wish companies would give as much oxygen to the women for whom Pride should be a celebration instead of it always being about the men. But that doesn’t mean it’s not a funny post.

I've always said this too. As a middle-aged lesbian I am not at all represented by pride. I would feel the same if I was younger I am sure. Pride has been overtaken by certain groups of blokes.

OneTealShaker · 08/06/2026 10:36

How come straight people marketing doesn’t have to revolve around overly disgusting stuff like that. But gay marketing does. What exactly does this imply?

AlexaStopAlexaNo · 08/06/2026 10:36

It’s absolutely vile

Exactly my thoughts too. I know many gay men who don't 'do' anal sex. And plenty of straight people are into it too.

Slightyamusedandsilly · 08/06/2026 10:37

Another day, another homophobic thread.

FFS, isn't it enough with the TERF hate without going back to resolved social issues?

Joolay · 08/06/2026 10:37

I don't mind it. I think it's funny

TheKittenswithMittens · 08/06/2026 10:38

AnythingFromAnyone · 08/06/2026 03:03

We tried using hello fresh twice and both times the food was off/rotten. Their customer service was atrocious. With that and now them talking about shitting for anal sex, I’m glad I don’t use this company.

My friends have had rotten food off them too.

Makes you wonder what they do with food before they send it out.

OneTealShaker · 08/06/2026 10:39

Also, 2020 called and it wants the marketing wokery back. Looks like Hello Fresh have missed me memo. The bandwagon has moved on from try hard woke marketing.
