Really Hello Fresh? Jumping on the Pride bandwagon and promoting your high fibre offering to gay men? Utterly grim.

It's great marketing. I bet everyone on this thread has just given the company about 10 times as much headspace as you normally would. Well done Hello Fresh, and all of us helping to make them relevant by posting on this thread!

Headspace, yes. But ordering some? Don't think so.

And associated it with poo, not the best for a food brand.

But it's a bodily function that we all have..

Just like the 'labour poo' advert that's on at the moment....what's the difference?

Imdunfer · 08/06/2026 09:50

I don't like the veiled reference to needing a high fibre diet for anal sex.

Many people may not realise you do....could save someone from an injury!

There's a very good reason that we have a disgust reaction when poo is mentioned in relation to food. If you don't have that disgust reaction you are highly likely to get sick as you won't take any steps to keep the two things separate.

What’s that advertising? Is it food?

And I can't tell you just how delightful it was for that advert to be shown in a cinema that serves food in the auditorium and you're mid bite into your pizza.

See above for the protective value of the human disgust reaction, which we evolved due to people who ate poo dying before they could produce as many children as those who were disgusted by it.

The fact that it is advertising food is the difference, surely you can see that?

Can't see what the fuss is all about really...
Poo comes from food, we all know that....
🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I don’t like to think about food and poo at the same time though. Do you?

the pearl clutching on here is hilarious. as are the people who have tried to make this about halal meat and reform. it's ok to relax you know!

It’s so easy to dismiss people with accusations of pearl clutching. I’m heartened to see that most respondents here find this campaign appalling. Go ahead and call us all Mary Whitehouse if it makes you feel good about yourself though.

But most of us don't solely choose to eat food with our primary motivation being the joy of eventually being able to poo it out.

Just like none of us get excited about the idea of having babies purely so that, in 80-100 years' time, they can have a lovely funeral.

If that's real it's pretty awful tbh
Im not prudish, I'm not homophobic, I'm just disgusted by an unfunny joke.
And when young children see the ad?

I think it would be meaningless to young children.

Shedmistress · 11/06/2026 07:46

Bleachedjeans · 11/06/2026 07:12

Unfortunately queer theory is all about facilitating the opportunity to 'explain' to kids who don't 'understand' which breaks down the norms. It is the feature not the bug.

BlueLegume · 11/06/2026 08:03

@Shedmistress thank you. I completely agree. Queer theory is everywhere but disguised as ‘be kind’, be inclusive. Sadly many people frame the whole ‘be kind’ mantra as being progressive. It isn’t. It is about reframing society. Reframing our moral compasses to believe if we do not go along with it we are regressive bigots. We are not. We want women and men to have the right to privacy in single sex spaces. We want children to be safeguarded from information they do not need until it is appropriate to educate them into growing up. Endless progress flags and marches with people in fetish gear and furries is wholly inappropriate for children to see.

Every western culture has been infiltrated by the Trojan Horse of ‘be kind’. The reality is every institution has been captured. It is not a nice time to witness. There is nothing ‘kind’ about women losing rights to pander to men with fetish. Young women opting out of being women. History will not look back on this time well. Social contagion gone mad all in the frame of progression.

EleanorPeck · 11/06/2026 08:26

Well said @BlueLegume I agree 100%.

I'd say those of us that eat bran flakes, all bran, anything at all that is high fibre do it deliberately for that reason. And totally unlinked to anal sex.

Ludicrous comment. The majority of gay men don't even engage in anal sex anyway.

HTH.

Well I'm quite tolerant of heterosexuality until confronted by graphic detail of niche and often considered taboo acts, in a very unexpected place when thinking about what I am going to cook for dinner.

Really? You don't actually like bran - you only eat it to help you poo?

Even so, bran is only one specific foodstuff with a, ahem, specialist reputation... HF are trying to sell vegetables with the same justification, but surely they're a very normal, major staple of most people's everyday diet anyway?

Er no - some of us just like bran flakes.
