2 charity climbers booed ,because they went before the queue to touch the top!Had already done the 3 peaks challenge and were exhausted .A man physically tried to stop them by putting his hand out! YABU they should have waited .YANBU they should not have been booed

There’s a queue. They should have waited.

CactusRabbit · 29/05/2026 10:18

If I had run 3 marathons in a row, I wouldn't expect to go straight to the front of the queue to get my medal. While they've done an admirable thing, they still should have waited.

OnlyReplyToIdiots · 29/05/2026 10:19

What makes those exhausted climbers more deserving than the other exhausted climbers who were queueing?

Hotupnorth · 29/05/2026 10:20

Was it a timed thing? Had anyone else in the queue completed the challenge. I guess there was a good reason?

Exactly my thoughts

or did the rest of the queue get the train up?!

Whaleandsnail6 · 29/05/2026 10:20

They should have waited in the queue.

I'd imagine a lot of people were exhausted and it was a physical and mental challenge for many, also a lot were also likely to have climbed for charity.

Pretty poor on their part to try and jump the queue

ShetlandishMum · 29/05/2026 10:21

Wait in the queue like everyone else?

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 29/05/2026 10:21

They should have waitied (they might of enjoyed the rest) , and many of the people doing the 3 Peaks Challenge are doing it for charity.

Deadleaves77 · 29/05/2026 10:22

The queue is usually to take photos at the trig point, not touch the top. People faff around for ages taking photos. If you just want to touch the top I wouldn't queue on Snowdon

3beesinmybonnet · 29/05/2026 10:23

@Hotupnorth
The 3 Peaks Challenge has to be done in 24 hours

Divebar2021 · 29/05/2026 10:24

I don’t know anything about this incident but let’s not pretend there isn’t a certain amount of ego involved in undertaking these challenges for “ charity”. Queuing culture is very strong in the UK so it takes a certain arrogance to think that the rules don’t apply to you.

Shoxfordian · 29/05/2026 10:29

No reason they shouldn't queue with everyone else who's also tired

Brainstorm23 · 29/05/2026 10:30

I hate these no context posts where you have to go Google to get the actual story. FFS just put a link in or something.

Me too, I was wondering what was going on.

SandwichSuperstar · 29/05/2026 10:32

I too hate threads like this with no link.

I've Googled and to be honest, they sound a bit up their own arses and selfish in what they've said here...

This image shows two men standing with greenery surrounding them, the man on the left is wearing light blue walking trousers and a green and grey jacket, the man on the right is wearing khaki trousers, a long sleeve red top and a white charity t shirt.

Charity hikers booed for dodging queues at summit of Yr Wyddfa

The pair say they were jeered when they avoided queues as they just wanted to tap the trig point.

Ablondiebutagoody · 29/05/2026 10:32

The queue on a mountain is stupid. Shouldn't have to wait for half an hour or whatever while people take selfies to quickly touch the trig point and get on with your walk. I did the same last time I was there.

I also don't adjust my behaviour for people taking photos in a busy city centre.

hugasaurus · 29/05/2026 10:34

Queuing for the top of a mountain seems like peak Britishness! Is it because people are fannying about taking Insta photos?

Brainstorm23 · 29/05/2026 10:34

What the big deal about touching the trig point? They've already climbed to the summit. Just move on if the queue is long.

cariadlet · 29/05/2026 10:34

It was a great achievement but I think it was arrogant of them to think that they had the right to queue jump.

3beesinmybonnet · 29/05/2026 10:35

AFAIK the queue was for people who wanted a photo of themselves posing at the trig point, whereas these 2 charity hikers just wanted to touch it to complete their challenge. Why should they be expected to queue for something they don't want?

Mapletree1985 · 29/05/2026 10:37

The adulation given to people for these physical feats is ridiculous. Running a marathon doesn't make you special. They should have waited in line like everyone else.

Raindropskeepfallingon · 29/05/2026 10:37

Getting people to give money for you to do an activity you want to do anyway then acting like you’re somehow special and more important than the people in the queue is antisocial and finishing a made up challenge in an arbitrary time limit is not an excuse.

Funny how these activities are never “collect 50 sacks of roadside litter in 24 hours” or “drive the day centre minibus every Saturday for a year” - it’s always some fun activity like skydiving or hiking they’d want to do anyway.

SwatTheTwit · 29/05/2026 10:37

I think the way he phrased it was unreasonable, but I also think it’s bonkers to have to queue to touch a stone.

Queue for photo op: yes
Queue for touch and go: no

Ineffable23 · 29/05/2026 10:37

Their comments irritated me, but queuing up a mountain would also irritate me. If the people were queuing for photos and they didn't want photos then walking past seems legit. And if it was just a queue to touch it then it should have been moving at walking pace and no exhausted climbers would have been overtaking anyone.

SwatTheTwit · 29/05/2026 10:38

Brainstorm23 · 29/05/2026 10:34

What the big deal about touching the trig point? They've already climbed to the summit. Just move on if the queue is long.

But if it’s not a big deal why are people wanting a photo there anyway? Just go, reach the top and then come back down.
