Re-useable/washable sanitary pads on the washing line for all to see - yay or nay?

If you use re-usable/washable sanitary pads, do or would you line dry them after washing assuming four or five neighbours can easily see them?

Ffs some of these comments are exactly the reason women can’t or don’t have a voice why misogyny is so frigging rife in the manosphere. Women have periods! Women have breasts, boobs whatever you want to name them. Hang out your bras pants period necessitates. F@@k anyone who objects. Women exist bloody hell.

I'd use a circular, multi peg, hanger, rather than peg them out. I use one for anything small, so it isn't a shame thing. I used to put my knickers on a low airer. It wouldn't bother me if I saw any of my neighbour's washing.

And yet they know you have a period. Every month. Like every woman of childbearing age in the world

Doesn't mean people aren't entitled to keep a sense of privacy around these things.

Fanny Bunting

Isn't that an Enid Blyton character?

Love that you signed off this post with "bloody hell" 😂

My small back garden backs onto a public footpath. When we first moved in I used to hang underwear closer to the house with bigger items next to the footpath, but now I don’t bother.

Period pants are most likely to be right next to the path, as that end gets more sun and they have several layers.

Passers-by would have to look quite hard to realise what they are, though, as they are black with a black lining.

OP, I would hang yours out. Your neighbours can admire how climate-aware you are.

You're spinning this little narrative on this thread based on very little actual reality. If a woman chooses to keep the timing and logistics of her periods private that isn't the same thing as feeling ashamed of them. You wouldn't stride down the street loudly intoning 'My vulva's itching!', would you? But that wouldn't mean you were ashamed of having one.

Tinytwinle · Today 16:19

God noway i can only speak for myself.
I dont care if others want to hang their pads out wouldnt bother me.
All us women have or had periods its normal nothing to be ashamed of either.
But for me its something i want to keep to myself.

I change with the times but sometimes i do think some things are going to far.

Most disgusting thing I’ve ever heard!!

Do you find all reusable things disgusting? Pants, nappies, socks, bras?

Additup · Today 16:32

I did when I had periods. If wouldn't cross my mind not to.
I also hang up all my colourful and sexy underwear on the line and if anyone wants to gawp or get off on it, they're welcome 😁

Why use reusable sanitary pads really… very unhygienic

If your reusable sanitary pads are very unhygienic then make sure the whole family is in fully disposable underwear, and potty training children and babies are in fully disposable clothes, because you obviously don't wash anything properly and therefore can't reuse anything with bodily fluids on. If you can wash clothing with poo and wee leaks on, you'll be fine with reuseable sanitry towels.

vickylou78 · Today 16:35

Yes go for it. Also the sunlight will bleach any stains and kill any bacteria too. It's win win. Don't worry about what neighbours think. Maybe not when they have a BBQ party though 😄

Inmyuggs · Today 16:37

Hang them out if you prefer
Use a inner line to disguise it if need be.
I guess we all have our quirks.
I dont use them but get sanitary products free from my workplace.

Missey85 · Today 16:38

Yes if you don't like it maybe quit staring at the neighbours clothes line

ToffeeCrabApple · Today 16:38

I have done this exact thing. Right up there with the washable nappies.

I don't get periods any more but don't see this as anything to be remotely embarrassed about.

And to a pp - why on earth would washable sanitary pads be unhygienic? The point is they get washed and are clean..... i found them much more pleasant than plastic ones.

lazyarse123 · Today 16:43

I'm past all this but i remember putting some pants on an airer in our porch and dh asking if I was going to move them because the window cleaners were coming. I just said "they're knickers I'm not bothered" and he was like "but they might be". If a man is going to get the vapours about seeing size 22 pants belonging to a 68 year old he's got big issues. 😂😂😂 daft old bugger.

NaomiBunch · Today 16:43

My washable pads are probably the cleanest thing I own.

Rinsed in cold water. Soaked in vinegar. Washed with laundry disinfectant. Hung on the line in full sun.

The rest of my clothes just get chucked in the machine, washed at 40, and pegged out however they come.

Can’t you put them in the inner bit of the line so nobody can see them (that’s assuming it bothers you, if it doesn’t obviously it isn’t an issue)

What??? I presume you only wear your knickers once then throw them out then?

It doesn't bother me but I'm not sure what you mean by the 'inner bit of the line'.

Sorry if I'm being really thick.

One wearing and they spontaneously combust.

Inner bit of the line is near the pole

I still don't get it 😂

The bits of the line near the poles are the most visible because they're the most elevated.

Not on a rotary washing line they're not 🙂
