Re-useable/washable sanitary pads on the washing line for all to see - yay or nay?

If you use re-usable/washable sanitary pads, do or would you line dry them after washing assuming four or five neighbours can easily see them?

I just wouldn`t have the stomach to clean out someones poop then wash out whats left.
Im sure it works for you as its cheaper but i couldnt.

You know you’re supposed to clean out poo with disposable nappies too? You should tip it into the toilet, not send mountains of shit to landfill.

PurpleThistle7 · 28/05/2026 18:42

Bewildered that anyone has a strong opinion about this really. I can’t imagine noticing someone else’s washing or thinking I should have an opinion about it.

Wouldnt have a clue i dont have kids. Hence the reason why i wouldnt have the stomach to clean anyone elses shit.

Waitingfordoggo · 28/05/2026 18:57

I would if I used them, yes. I use a cup + period pants and the pants get hung out on the line with everything else.

So you wouldn’t be able to cope with reusable or disposable nappies therefore your ‘point’ makes no sense at all.

Irrelevant if they’re disposable nappies or reusable nappies then.

No. Use a tampon.

What an odd comment !

yes I’d hang them out I wouldn’t care and if I say them on a neighbours washing line I wouldn’t care either. Anyway who is bothered needs to grow up and wise up

alpenguin · 28/05/2026 19:24

I do and I don’t care what anyone thinks. Did it with nappies too.

I was told the sun on the gusset was good for them. They don’t go out covered in blood stains they’re already washed out.

No worries.

Bellablahhole · 28/05/2026 19:26

I didn't use washable SP, but yes, I absolutely would have done this if they'd been available. Fill your washing line OP!

Perrygreen · 28/05/2026 19:30

Yes. I did wonder about the blood stained one the other day though. I faced it away from the path and the neighbours side.

Bloatstoat · 28/05/2026 19:49

I do - my mother is horrified by it though and tells me to take them down.

Always a pleasure. It’s feedback, by the way 😊

I hang my reusable sanitary pads on the washing line. Periods are not something to be ashamed of why hide them.

Zanatdy · 28/05/2026 20:08

If I used them I would, I don’t think neighbours would care one bit what’s on their neighbours washing line

It means that i would not have the stomach to do it.
Its not an argument just a comment.

Well, you have to clean poo up from a baby’s bum anyway, when they’re older you just drop it in the toilet!

OneBlueFinch · 29/05/2026 15:40

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 28/05/2026 12:49

No. Use a tampon.

Maybe she can’t? Or maybe it’s her decision what kind of menstrual protection she uses? You sound really judgemental.

You're spinning this little narrative on this thread based on very little actual reality. If a woman chooses to keep the timing and logistics of her periods private that isn't the same thing as feeling ashamed of them. You wouldn't stride down the street loudly intoning 'My vulva's itching!', would you? But that wouldn't mean you were ashamed of having one.

Have you ever thought about why it is that a man scratching his bollocks in public is - while gross and ill-mannered - not an uncommon sight, while a woman openly scratching her vulva would be seen as genuinely shocking and obscene? Women’s bodies attract more shame, more policing and more sexual disgust than men’s. Some of us are interested in that and think it needs to change.

Unforgettablefire · 29/05/2026 16:04

I have one of those little peg things for underwear so I’d hang them on that at the end of the washing line amongst socks and stuff.
I have male neighbours I know it shouldn’t matter but that’s just me, my private things I like to be private.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 29/05/2026 16:18

Yes - they are clean ones! No bodily fluids on them, just a piece of fabric.

FFSItsTooHot · 29/05/2026 16:22

Wouldn't bother me,I honestly don't think that my neighbours are that interested in what's on my washing line.
