Am I the only person on MN who loves the summer?

All I see is posters moaning about summer and loving the winter.

I love the light nights. I love not wearing boots and coats and scarves. Bring the summer on!

I love the warm weather and the sunshine. Wearing a pretty dress and pottering in the garden, then sitting in the sun with a cold drink and a good book. Bliss!!

Bananarep · 24/05/2026 07:53

And this summer promises to be even more special given the governments ‘Great British Summer Savings’ Scheme!

It is immensely preferable to me. I like the colder months for a short period but it goes on forever in this country - just an endless stretch of grey and gloom. I come alive in summer, love not having to wear so many clothes, can just throw on a loose dress with no socks and be outside all the time. It’s heaven.

I like it. I get that heatwaves can be challenging. But the average summer outside of them is pretty much life as usual in a lighter jacket, so not sure what to hate really.

I think the problem MN has is that summer is for everyone, so the oiks are out in their council house gardens scoffing their Greggs and slurping their Fosters in their vests while shouting at their kids over the Bluetooth boombox they stole from B&M.

If "we" were all left in peace to sit in our lovely gardens with our lovely family in our lovely towns and didn't have to interact with the poors, I'm sure things would be different.

😂😂😂this not entirely inaccurate.

I love summer and the warmer weather.

You'll have the posters who were complaining a week ago about it being cold and miserable weather, to this week moaning that it is too hot!

I love this time of year and really dislike winter

I was working in the garden all day and it was really unpleasantly hot. We had to send our gardener home early because it was too hot for him too.
What were all the posters who love the hot weather doing today that was so lovely? Sitting on a deckchair with a cold drink?

I went into town, pottered around in the garden and all the other stuff I usually do at weekends.

I love the summer OP. I don't mind being hot. I used to live in a hot place where the temp in July and August was often around 35, plus quite humid, and that was heaven from my pov.

I've really noticed that people manage heat differently. The last few years at my office i a place that is not so hot, our AC was not working. Some of my staff really struggled, just miserable, even though I made sure they could take things slower than normal. I feel like my internal metabolism just goes into a kind of idle in the heat but their doesn't.

Now that we are in a new office I am struggling in the summer because the AC is frigid and I have to get togged up in sweaters and keep a blanket at my desk in summer. Some of my heat hating staff are going around in short sleeves happy as pickles.

RampantIvy · 24/05/2026 11:13

We have frigid aircon at work as well @TempestTost
I love to wear summer dresses and sandals, but my feet get so cold in the office.

@Attackedbysavagebees I went for a strenuous bike ride this morning. I didn't die.

Spidey66 · 24/05/2026 11:16

I love the longer days. I love warm weather but not too hot!

I don’t moan about the cold.

Cold weather doesn’t bother me. I spend all winter out on cold football pitches, I go out walking as usual. It doesn’t even get that cold in Winter.

I think it’s clear that some people are far more sensitive to hot/cold. I’m sure when I was younger I hated the cold but since I had my second child when I was 30 I’ve felt like I’m being cooked alive when the temperature goes over 25c.

But we can’t control the weather so I try to embrace all of the seasons.

NimbleHiker · 24/05/2026 14:09

I love the lighter evenings and i love reading in my garden. I like the fact that i can dry my washing outside. I do dislike it when it is 30 degrees though because my neighbour decides to have a party in their back garden until the small hours on the rare occasions that we do get 30 degrees.

RampantIvy · 24/05/2026 15:16

I get that some people's "inner thermostats" don't work very well, but I'll be honest and say that not liking the longer lighter evenings completely baffles me.

I would far rather sit in daylight than have to have a light on, and don't get me started on candles and fairy lights. They hurt my eyes.

LlynTegid · 24/05/2026 15:20

You are not completely alone OP. I love daylight in the evenings in particular.

You survived a strenuous bike ride? Well done you 👏👏
Just to clarify, I didn’t die yesterday or today but it would have been less unpleasant for me if it was cooler when I was mucking out stables. HTH

Bitbloweyoutthere · 25/05/2026 00:12

I did a 14k run in it this morning. But I took water (never usually need it) and went out in just a sports bra and shorts, because I hate the feeling of clothes. No one died because of my middle aged stomach, so all good.
