Am I the only person on MN who loves the summer?

All I see is posters moaning about summer and loving the winter.

I love the light nights. I love not wearing boots and coats and scarves. Bring the summer on!

I love the Summer! Life is so much nicer when it’s sunny!

Love summer. Bare arms and feet, light nights, sitting in the garden at dusk watching the swifts.

When I win the lottery, I’m going to stay in the southern hemisphere, or possibly Arizona, from mid October to the end of February, at least.

Edited

You could stay a bit longer, we get fabulous warm and sunny autumns in NZ.

My aches and pains largely disappear during the hot weather so bring it!

Bryonyberries · Yesterday 08:07

Love this time of year. Much easier to get up for a 7am start at work when it’s already day time when you get up. Love the light evenings when you don’t finish work until 6pm and can still get outside for a while in the sunshine.

I like pottering in the garden and seeing all the life and scent of flowers. At the moment my honeysuckle smells amazing.

Not quite so keen on working in temps over 25C but my workplace has recently installed air con/heating units that will help this summer. Don’t mind the heat if I’m not working in it as I have a lovely tree to lay under.

My least fav time of year is Nov-Jan when it’s constantly dark.

I love summer. It hates pale skinned and pollen allergy me though.

I hate the hot weather with a passion. Really unpleasant when mucking out stables, working in the garden or even going walking.
Those who enjoy it must just be lounging around doing nothing active.
Roll on the cool autumn days

This is the drama that people talk about on MN. It was 27 degrees here yesterday, nothing about 27 stops you walking or gardening or mucking out stables

I love british summer, warm days, long evenings. Flowers, plants, bugs, birds. I can actually do things after work like ride my bike. Snuggling under a blanket is what I do try to get through the shit that is winter because I cant do what I like to do in summer

I genuinely think we whip ourselves up into some sort of heatwave hysteria in the UK these days, everytime there's a risk of it getting a bit hot we talk about it so much it panics people. Fair enough when it's been in the high 30s but I'm sure yesterday felt like a completely normal british summer yet people were complaining at 9am before the heatwave had even started

NooNakedJacuzziness · Yesterday 08:21

I stuck my head out the window late last night and could actually smell summer, can’t describe it but it gave me such a lift. I’d love summer a lot more if I didn’t have purple legs that repell even fake tan though

Dontcallmescarface · Yesterday 08:29

I bloody love it. Bring on the heat.

Snackpocket · Yesterday 08:34

I absolutely love this weather and the summer. I love sitting looking at blue skies listening to the birds tweeting and the bees buzzing. I hate being cold and last night I could sit outside without a jumper for the first time this year. Bring it on!

gingercat02 · Yesterday 08:36

Me me me. I'm in the garden in a summer dress having my breakfast. It's beautiful.

Blundl · Yesterday 08:40

How it was yesterday was just right, it reached 27 where I was but cooled down a bit in the evening so the bed wasn't too hot, perfect.

Blondeshavemorefun · Yesterday 08:41

I love it - the hotter the better

blondesland is hotter then tenerife this weekend 🌞🌞

Greenwitchart · Yesterday 08:48

I love summers now that I am back living by the sea!

VintageLane · Yesterday 08:50

I love every season, but to have a stretch of warm and sunny days feels like a real treat.

Pricelessadvice · Yesterday 09:03

Me too OP!
I love it. I get awful SAD in the winter.

You are spot on with this @Deadleaves77 . I think social media makes it worse. The panic and hysteria on the "I hate summer" threads is ridiculous, although I completely understand if a medical condition makes heat intolerable, but that must only apply to a minority of the population, surely? - and they all seem to be on mumsnet.

It is 16 degrees, windy and cloudy this morning with a maximum of 21 degrees forecast.

God, all those moaners are such a drag. I adore summer, particularly the light nights.

MrsMurphyIWish · Yesterday 10:25

I hate teaching in the sweat box in my classroom (Yea kids, the windows are open. No, you won’t be sent home. Yes, you still have to learn and sit exams. No, I can’t buy air con - all answers I said yesterday!)

But as soon as I’m home, washing the days sweat off me I am loving life! The bright skies are so uplifting! We’re also a little nomadic so summer to us is full of camping trips and festivals!

CoffeeCantata · Yesterday 10:53

I don't like summer. I LOVE the spring, though. I don't do well in heat, so a cool summer isn't too bad.

But to me it's the mood. I love the expectation of spring - the trees coming into leaf, the flowers appearing, hedges getting green, the light still showing through in woodlands, the bluebells etc. Once summer arrives all that lovely expectation is over.

Plus - summer where I live means BBQ smells and smoke, lots of noise outside, people standing outside in the street making a racket into the night and horrible sticky pavements with dried spilled sugary drinks and dried vomit.

If summer is coolish with regular refreshing rain, I'm OK with it, but droughts and heatwaves stress me.

Yes - the light nights (and mornings) are lovely. I'm an early riser - up by 5, usually, and I love that quiet time in which NO-ONE else has any legitimate claims on me to just relax before the day gets going.

Just don't like stickiness or droughts and the gardens and crops drying up.

Hate the summer.....
But I'm sure you'll all be on here in 6 months time complaining about the cold....

Well, it'll be less than six months because us summer lovers are short changed compared to those who like cold and grey.

Disliking cold is normal, surely? It's why we wear clothes, have heating. No one actually wants to be cold.

The winter lovers should try living in a cold damp Victorian property with no money for adequate heating (as I experienced for many years). When you're closer to what the actual temperature is, spring and then summer is such a welcome relief.

Ethel opposite. I do very little in winter as the cold means I don’t want to leave the house. I like walking in sunny weather and am more likely to do other forms of exercise, both indoor and outdoor, because my mental health is better. I also don’t mind a bit of sweat.

ChaToilLeam · Yesterday 12:09

I love it too! I hate rain, I know we need it but it just annoys the hell out of me. Warm summer evenings are bliss.
