Am I the only person on MN who loves the summer?

All I see is posters moaning about summer and loving the winter.

I love the light nights. I love not wearing boots and coats and scarves. Bring the summer on!

I love the summer and if it stayed about 21, anything in late 20s or 30s is too much. Also July is alway torrential rain here for a couple of weeks and I get lots of bites and hay fever so can be miserable but love May and june

I love that we live in a place with seasons actually. I think we’re very lucky. I get to the end of each season and get fed up and ready for the next one. You’ll catch me saying “autumn is my favourite” then “I love mid winter in front of the fire” then “I’m sick of being cold, I’m ready for the sun”.

it’s basically been autumn for the past twenty months, I am so ready for this lovely weekend!

EdithStourton · Yesterday 14:51

I love the summer.
I had a paddle in our local river yesterday and the water was warm.

Dinggirl · Yesterday 14:54

I love it, but I don't do well when it's very hot. It's about 26/27 degrees with a nice breeze where I am, and I'm out in the back garden with a glass of wine....but any hotter and I'd feel quite ill!

Bitbloweyoutthere · Yesterday 15:16

Well I'm feeling a bit cheated by it today.

I thought I'd be in a bikini, but I've just put a hoody on cos the breeze is quite stiff in our garden.

Hm, interesting. For me the change of seasons in this country is really subtle/ minimal compared to other countries that I’ve experienced - where you don’t have grey skies and wind and drizzle in all four seasons, but mostly snow in winter and consistent sun in the summer.

I think hot, sunny weather in the uk is particularly special, because you are not guaranteed it throughout the full season.

I don't hate summer, but I do hate the way it changes so many people's behaviour. The moment it hits 20 degrees, out come all the wankers with their blaring music and noisy gatherings in their gardens at midnight. Every other car that pulls up next to the shops where I live has ear splitting base booming. It actually makes my front door rattle. And don't get me started on hot, sticky buses with no air con and windows that only open an inch. Put air con on buses and get rid of all the idiots and I'd like summer!

It depends where you live and what kind of neighbours you have. Our neighbours don't play music in the garden, smoke weed or have noisy parties. Most of them are retired, are lovely and are quiet.

EasternStandard · Yesterday 17:01

Love the summer. Already eyeing that passing of the longest day which is the only thing that gets me. All seasons are good apart from that hurdle.

Keepgettingolder81 · Yesterday 17:03

I love it. Keep cranking up the heat!!

AcquadiP · Yesterday 17:04

I agree. I could quite happily live with hot weather all year round. Sunshine energises me.

ginasevern · Yesterday 17:16

I don't get it. There was a Mumsnetter the other day saying she'd bought some kind of cooling pillows, fans, 2 air con units and god knows what else. Like a sort of Ray Mears survival kit. And other posters were seriously wondering how they were going to last the week. Why doesn't anyone on here ever moan about the bloody freezing cold. Why aren't they preparing to break up furniture to light fires and dashing out to buy heated snow boots or a team of huskies?

Yeah I saw that, posters were sitting in darkness with their curtains closed.like they were extras on I am legend.

cardibach · Yesterday 17:35

In fairness @Wickedlittledancer I close my curtains on the sunny side when it’s properly hot and I love summer. Keeps the house much cooler so there’s somewhere to sit if you do feel a cool down is necessary, plus makes sleeping more comfortable.
@daffodilandtulip i coukd do without seasons. A gentle switch between one season at about 20 for a bit then another at 25+ for a bit. I don’t need the cold wet ones.

Oohanothername · Yesterday 17:40

Oh I adore summer! Especially heat waves. EVERYTHING is better in the sun. I love long days, I love being able to get out in the evenings, I especially LOVE being WARM! I bloody hate it when people gripe about nice weather 🤬🤬🤬

Chemenger · Yesterday 17:45

Last summer was fantastic here, long sunny days, mid 20’s temperatures at the most. Generally a nice breeze. Bliss.

Me too, I love the seasons. I’m really enjoying the sunshine and was very ready for it, but I’ll be excited for Autumn when it comes.

The endless mild to cold, grey rainy days that we seem to get whatever the season are what drain me - actual seasonal weather in its correct season I enjoy 😀

GinaandGin · Yesterday 18:03

I love the heat
I am really sensitive to cold and find to hard to stay warm during the winter

EmmaB1309 · Yesterday 18:54

I love it too OP. Sunshine and warmth makes such a difference to my mood. I get people not liking extreme heat though.

CeciliaMars · Yesterday 19:05

I love it!

Daisydaisy1313 · Yesterday 19:20

I think it’s widely accepted that most people in the UK prefer Summer.

On mumsnet people seem to get really angry at anyone who doesn’t like Summer, but it’s not like anyone can control the weather is it?

I do love certain things about Summer. The lighter nights, the greenery and flowers, going on holiday, the breezy evenings. Oh and hanging washing on the line.

But there are some things I loathe about it. Personally if the temperature gets above about 26c for a few days I find it completely unbearable. The weather here is so erratic, torrential rain cold and grey to sweltering heat.

Where I live all the idiots come out on mopeds and quad bikes racing around the roads dangerously, I’ve Judy come home from the shop with ds and there’s some guy zooming down my road shirtless on a motorbike. It’s noisy and dangerous.

Trying to sleep in the very hot weather, dh bloody sweats all Summer, it’s too noisy with the window open so it just makes for an uncomfortable nights sleep.

Cold weather doesn’t bother me, I’m more comfortable outdoors in Winter, I seem to be much better at regulating my temperature in the cold than in the hot.

Attackedbysavagebees · Yesterday 19:43

I was working in the garden all day and it was really unpleasantly hot. We had to send our gardener home early because it was too hot for him too.
What were all the posters who love the hot weather doing today that was so lovely? Sitting on a deckchair with a cold drink?

Lying in a reclining chair reading a book, then took the dogs out at 5. We’ve just had dinner in the garden. It’s been a beautiful day.

That’s the bit that I don’t get about the people who love heat.

What are they actually doing in the heat? It’s holiday weather, lovely for lying on the beach or by the pool, but if you’re trying to actually get stuff done it’s unbearable.

VintageLane · Yesterday 19:51

It was gorgeous here today. Hot but not unbearable.

Walked about 40 minutes to a local pub, met friends, had a long lunch in the pub garden. Walked into town for a mooch around. Walked home the long way so dogs could paddle in the river. Sat outside with Times crossword. Pottered about in garden. Still lounging outside. Ordered 3 summer duvets from M&S as I can’t find ours. Husband now cooking pizzas in pizza oven. Bliss.
