Am I the only person on MN who loves the summer?

All I see is posters moaning about summer and loving the winter.

I love the light nights. I love not wearing boots and coats and scarves. Bring the summer on!

Where are you? It’s 12 degrees here and grey but warming up by 11am.

I’m in the south east, currently sunny and 16 degrees, forecast for 19 by 8 am and 28 today

I love the summer , wore a summer dress and sandals yesterday , fab
Sunny riverside walk , got home and sat on the patio with a glass of cold water
Watered the plants in the evening and will need to sort the hose out as the water butt is going to run out soon
Volunteering at park run this morning , no running for me
Love it

I love everything about it except the actual heat! The longer days, the plants, the golden evenings- all of it is wonderful, though my intolerance of the temperature makes it hard to actually get out and enjoy it.

The slightly cooler evenings after a long hot days when things are finally tolerable, though? Nothing beats it.

This is me too. My energy zaps in warmer weather. So yes, out in the evenings etc. I find it difficult to sleep when I'm too warm as well. The joys of perimenopause.

i also don't tan. I burn when the sun is out. But I do love the long days. I've been doing lots in my garden this year and am looking forward to being able to enjoy that.

not looking forward to work, where people even in the hottest days still complain of cold and have the heating on. Old building with no air con and it does get intolerable by the afternoon .

i like each season. There is something enjoyable for me in each one.

Meadowfinch · Yesterday 07:09

No, I love it. Thank God for summer.

In the last 24 hours I've dumped my winter clothes, got my legs out, gone for a run at 6.30 am, and stocked the freezer with choc ices. I'm just off to Tesco to buy a week of salads and some sun block.

At last !!

cinemapop · Yesterday 07:09

I love the clear blue morning skies. Im an early riser and its seriously depressing being awake 3-4 hours before seeing daylight. I love getting up opening the windows, it starts the whole day better. But i hate trying to work from home in this heat and wish i could afford aircon

RampantIvy · Yesterday 07:11

Forecast today is a sunny 21 degrees in my south Yorkshire village.

ValenciaOrangeJawline · Yesterday 07:14

Love summer. Bare arms and feet, light nights, sitting in the garden at dusk watching the swifts.

When I win the lottery, I’m going to stay in the southern hemisphere, or possibly Arizona, from mid October to the end of February, at least.

AFingerofFudge · Yesterday 07:15

I absolutely love the summer and the sun on my face, even though I’m a bit overweight and get chub rub (snag tights) and I am self conscious about my belly, but I still love it 😎

I'd be up for having 9 months of summer, with 1 month each of the other seasons - provided winter definitely includes snow at Christmas! The change makes us appreciate summer more, and autumn and spring are beautiful.

People who bang on about "snuggly and cosy" as reasons for enjoying winter really annoy me - summer is clearly better because it's warm and cosy everywhere then! You don't need to hide inside and pay for heating!

I'm also currently about to give birth any day (hence high irritability levels 😆) and everyone thinks I should be struggling in the heat but I'm loving it!

Oh God. I do normally love summer, but DS was born in early June, and I do have vivid memories of being awake at 4.00am with a newborn snarling "Fuck off light! You shouldn't even be here at this time!" , and desperately trying to sleep and hide from the horrible, intrusive sunlight later in the morning. Got your blackout curtains ready?

On the plus side, his birthday party has been outdoors in lovely weather pretty much every year I think, and there are always strawberries.

SpareVanKeys · Yesterday 07:19

I absolutely the summer! I can’t take extreme heat so much anymore, but it doesn’t upset me terribly and I do still love it warm. I also like proper crispy cold winter days too and cosy evenings. The weather I don’t like - and we can get it in any season in the uk - are those flat grey nothing days. Or windy days, don’t like those at all in case something is damaged on the house

RampantIvy · Yesterday 07:24

We get an awful lot of damp flat grey days where I live.

Winter lovers get ecstatic about bright, crisp winter days. I also love a bright winter's day but they are as rare as hen's teeth.

I love wearing summer clothes and not having to bundle up all the time. I don't understand the summer haters when they say they don't like summer clothes because they like to hide under thick jumpers. The thing is wearing lightweight loose trousers and a lightweight top doesn't make you look any fatter than a thick jumper does.

ShiftySquirrel · Yesterday 07:32

I love it too. Yesterday was perfect, sun out, warm southerly breeze, beautiful light evening, birds singing, flowers out. Just gorgeous! I was working but it cheered me up. Add to that slinging washing on the line and getting it dry in half an hour.
Life is just more pleasant and easier when the sun is out.

Whilst I like all seasons, I do hate being cold, plus it adds extra to the heating bills, more washing because more layers/bulkier clothes to wash, tumble drying stuff costs more and doesn't smell as nice as line dried.

PartyQuestion30th · Yesterday 07:37

I’m useless in proper heat, pale and red headed and I just go sweaty and out of sorts. But even in a proper UK hot summer it’s never that hot…. I love not having to take a cardi when it’s proper hot. Love the garden in the early light and watching the bats at dusk. Our house gets no sunlight from October to March which I find difficult…so love those first days in March as the sun makes its way into the front windows…

Bitbloweyoutthere · Yesterday 07:41

I think it's only on here you tend to hear it. Most people in rl prefer summer. I won't enjoy my gym class in a bit, but I'm loving having breakfast in the garden. I love not feeling cold for the first time pretty much this year.

I don't like suncream though (neither does my face) and I wish we'd built up to this warmth, so i could get used to going for a run in it.

OneDreamyGreenMentor · Yesterday 07:43

I have a love hate relationship with summer. I have multiple health conditions that get worse in warm weather and I struggle a lot more than I do in the colder months.
I’m also allergic to many insect bites/stings so I’m permanently anxious all summer long.
But I also enjoy sitting outside on a sunny day, sunbathing, I enjoy having a BBQ with family & friends and pottering in the garden at 6am because it’s light enough to do so.

If the heat didn’t make me so unwell, I’d adore summer.

Myblueclematis · Yesterday 07:45

I'm a spring and summer person and although I don't hate the other seasons, I do dislike the strong winds and rain that we get these days. The very cold, crispy autumns and winters of years ago hardly seem to happen now.

I love the longer and lighter days, I like getting up early and being able to open the windows and sit and have a coffee with the french doors open onto the garden where I can see the birds and hear the bees buzzing around. The colours in the garden from all the different plants and flowers. I love being able to have a shower fairly late at night and not have a light on.

Best of all I love going down to the beach hut we have just taken over and spending time just looking out at the sea and IoW, the yachts, the huge cargo vessels, the paddle boarders and kayakers. People wandering past stopping to chat or say hello, dogs running in or up to us, friends dropping by for a chat and cup of tea or coffee.

Love the summer! 😎

Twattergy · Yesterday 07:49

I cam just about understand some people dont like being sweaty. But yeah until I went on MM I didn't realise there was anyone who actually liked long dark nights for months on end. I find that really weird tbh.

BIossomtoes · Yesterday 07:50

Another summer lover here. The living really is easy - long days, light clothes, washing drying outside, the garden in full bloom, the sun warming your bones. Beautiful.

Blundl · Yesterday 07:56

I like it apart from choosing footwear, boots are much easier and comfier. I wore my sandals yesterday for the first time, done my usual walk to the shops, 2-3 miles in all, there and back and have now got a poor rubbed toe.

GethsemaneHall · Yesterday 07:57

I think I'm a foot in both camps!
I love a proper summer, endless sunny days ideally with a soft breeze. Getting up in a morning and chucking a dress on knowing you will be perfectly warm all day. It even helps mine and my husbands health issues, if I was a victorian lady of means I'd have been packed off to the Mediterranean to improve my constitution 🤣
However (this is the bit you will hate me for!) I am absolutely the twat that loves 'cosy' autumn/winter vibes as well! I'm always a bit excited when it is dark by 4pm and I can come home, light the fire and sit in the lounge surrounded by Christmas lights 🤭
I think the problem we have in the UK is that rather than having distinguishable summer and winter weather it is all starting to blend into one long dreary season of about twelve degrees and rain. The colour we see most of is grey and that is just depressing. If we had a long hot summer followed by a proper cold, snowy winter I would be thrilled!

fancypantss · Yesterday 07:58

So excited for this beautiful half term week!

RS1987 · Yesterday 07:58

I love all the seasons!

RampantIvy · Yesterday 08:00

I am happy for all of you with school aged children to be able to do outdoor activities instead of scratching around looking for something to do in relentless rain.

Enjoy your half term.

MN is the home of moaners and venters. It’s a bubble that doesn’t accurately represent the real world.

Sux2buthen · Yesterday 08:03

Fine to love summer, fine to love winter. Fine to celebrate and be happy with either but these posts are always about slagging off other people’s preferences and that’s a bit weird.
I prefer cold and winter but like summer because it means it’s nearly autumn again
