Please raise a complaint about the unduly lenient sentencing of the three teenage boys who have avoided prison after raping two teenage girls.

BBC News article - BBC News - Teenage boys sentenced for raping lone girls

Ask for a Crown Court sentence to be reviewed

How to complain to the Attorney General's Office if you think someone's sentence is too low - and what happens if the Court of Appeal get involved

I'm so, so angry after reading about this. Absolutely disgusting. I agree everyone needs to complain.

JamesFrond · 21/05/2026 15:44

I know, it’s made me feel sick.

My nineteen year old is going to a concert soon in a city none of us know (Manchester) and we spent time yesterday working out how she was going to get there and finding a hotel she could stay in. Now I feel like I’m throwing her to the wolves. Why should we have to feel like this, like we can’t live ordinary lives doing things that we want to do?

mumofoneAloneandwell · 21/05/2026 15:44

THIS IS FUCKING DISGUSTING.

SIGNED.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 21/05/2026 15:46

I've put 'Three teenage boys', you could add in Southampton. It asks you which court on the following page - Southampton. If they get enough complaints I'm sure they'll be able to figure it out.

There is another thread on this too - you can complete the online form and copy and paste a link to the news article in the field that asks for the name(s) of the defendent(s) criminals.

Thank you for sharing my links @Gingerbreadtreethe more who complain the better. I’m done with woman and girls being treated like this.

I hope you don’t mind. I’m adding the words of the strong and brave girls here also:

The victim impact statements described profound and ongoing trauma experienced by both girls after the assaults.

The 15-year-old victim said the attack had destroyed her sense of safety and badly affected her mental health. In a poem included with her statement, she expressed feelings of despair, emotional numbness, and suicidal thoughts. She described living with fear and the lasting psychological impact of being assaulted while others laughed and filmed it.

The 14-year-old victim said she felt emotionally disconnected after the assault and struggled to trust or relate to people around her. She described feeling numb, withdrawn, and permanently changed by what happened.

TheEdgyMember · 21/05/2026 15:56

I also objected. This is deeply flawed and unjust.

Only one person needs to make the request in order for the sentencing to be reviewed. That’s what it says on the page you linked. So I didn’t submit one, but I agree the sentencing was shockingly lenient considering the seriousness of the crimes, the premeditated nature, the fact the crime was repeated & the perpetrators lack of remorse.

WhosGotTheKeysToMyBimma · 21/05/2026 16:04

Done.

Outrageous. The judges remarks are beyond belief.

Fasdmama · 21/05/2026 16:06

Horrific.

I can’t imagine that they are going to take less notice if there are lots of objections and it only takes a minute to do.

The judge’s remarks are despicable.

Thank you for posting this, their words are the most important. How brave of them to face their attackers, only for the judge to spare them proper punishment.

I was furious when I read this. That poor girl

Sortingmyself · 21/05/2026 16:13

Literally just read the BBC article and my jaw clanged with the 'sentencing'. Utter travesty.

UnDeuxTwuh · 21/05/2026 16:15

Done, I have complained. I hope many MNetters take the time to complain. I knew a girl of 17 who was raped; her life was ruined, she took an extra year to get through A levels but did badly and couldn’t face university due to PTSD and fear of her peers. She had three sisters and I don’t think any of them got over it to be honest. One never dated, never married. The dad had a heart attack the following year. For years I carried an illegal weapon because I was so afraid of being raped in broad daylight. I figured if I used the weapon I might be done for it, but at least I’d have done some damage to the bastard first.

Crimes like this throw a long shadow and perpetuate the justifiable fear that girls aren’t safe on our streets.

KeyLimeCake · 21/05/2026 16:22

I've complained. I assumed I was going to be shocked at how short the prison sentences were, I was not prepared for them avoiding prison. Do an adult crime, do adult time.
Rape is now "unnecessarily criminalised". Lovely.

thisfilmisboring123 · 21/05/2026 16:24

What a fucking disgrace!

So angry reading the BBC article and doesn’t even bear thinking about how these poor girls must feel.

Utterly disgusted.

Lopella · 21/05/2026 16:27

Also signed.

This is beyond disgusting.

Topjoe19 · 21/05/2026 16:30

I am livid! Signed.

GasperyJacquesRoberts · 21/05/2026 16:31

It's unbelievable. What the fuck was that judge thinking?

guinnessguzzler · 21/05/2026 16:33

Intensive surveillance and supervision for three years / 18 months. Even if that prevents them raping anyone else in that time, what happens after that? Will they magically no longer be rapists? They are clearly exceptionally disturbed individuals who need to be prevented from being able to cause such harm in future, likely for the rest of their lives.

MrsFaustus · 21/05/2026 16:33

I have signed.Am also writing to our new Minister for Women and Girls, Harriet Harman.

Squeeky112 · 21/05/2026 16:37

Signed. I also said the judge should be disbarred and removed from office.
