To think some older women having tax payers funded ivf are hypocrites?

There seems to be a substantial group of people who are ok with calling teen mums a waste of their tax money but then leave child bearing too late and expect the tax payers to foot the bill for their multiple ivf cycles which costs the tax payer up to 100 million a year.

Hypocrites!!!

I personally know some like this

So take it up with them, rather than ranting on the internet?

Well, if you know them then say something to them. 🤷‍♀️

Shamesame · 19/05/2026 10:54

Absolutely no one I who had IVF had it because they left it too late and were actively trying for years before.

SemperIdem · 19/05/2026 10:55

You might have been better off making this thread less general. Because are you clearly speaking about women who you personally know and trying to make it seem as though it is a broader issue, when it is not.

Google is my friend, but I can't see any evidence on Google that backs up your claim that it's women complaining about teen Mum's who are having all the IVF.

Either provide a link to evidence or accept you don't have any.

Loads of people hate teen mums, anyone that was one will know this me personally was pregnant at 15 and have been disrespected by a vast array of people for it.
Some of these people leave child bearing too late and then expect the tax payer to pay for their ivf which seems incredibly hypocritical

so your 'evidence' is one person that you know

Deary me 🤦🏻‍♀️

B1anche · 19/05/2026 10:56

All the people I know who have had IVF were in their late 20s or early 30s. I wouldn't know their opinions on teen mothers.

plasticplate · 19/05/2026 10:56

I also don't know anyone who thinks teen mums shouldn't be supported.

I know there are people who are anti- teenmoms but I've never heard that the complaint is their cost to taxpayers.

I am going to ask ONE more time.

Do you have links to evidence?

Or is it all anecdotal?

WestwardHo1 · 19/05/2026 10:58

Oh do fuck off

ThisCandidMintGoose · 19/05/2026 10:58

If you are bitter and have a chip on your shoulder after being a teen mum yourself, your ridiculous reaction is exactly why people think it's generally a bad idea

It's only hypocritical if they expect taxpayer funding but also criticise others for being taxpayer funded. How do you know these are one and the same people?

im Not sure what part of this you’re struggling to believe but google is your friend

I googled. It doesn't say anything about older women receiving multiple rounds of ivf on the NHS costing £100M.

The NHS states instead that ivf is a postcode lottery but generally one cycle of ivf is available for women aged between 25 and 40. NHS-funded in vitro fertilisation (IVF) in England - GOV.UK

What do you want links for? That ivf is expensive or that a lot of people hate teen mums and call them a waste of tax money?

I mean I can find links to both if you want but I thought this was just common knowledge

AmazingGreatAunt · 19/05/2026 11:00

This is certainly going to be a very unpopular opinion, but I do not think anyone should be having IVF on the NHS.
That is not what it was set up for.
Call me a Luddite, but if it isn't happening naturally there is probably a good reason.

No I want links for the very specific post you made.

That the women complaining about teen Mothers are also the same women having IVF.

Thank you in advance.

No, we want to see the link between people who think teen mums shouldn't be taxpayer funded and older people who expect taxpayers to fund their own IVF.

Monty36 · 19/05/2026 11:01

Can honestly say I haven’t heard the phrase ‘teen mums’. Or anyone using it.

Ophy83 · 19/05/2026 11:01

Older women can't get ivf on the NHS. If you are under 39 you can get 3 cycles. 40-42 get one. That's it.

FennelGingerJasmineOrMint · 19/05/2026 11:01

Good grief! This thread is absolute nonsense.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 19/05/2026 11:01

There are plenty of people that would say that nobody should have funded IVF. Not sure why you pick out older women

Snorlaxo · 19/05/2026 11:02

Did you want to add caesarians and “too posh to push” and being more expensive than a vaginal birth to complete your pregnancy hat trick ?

I believe you when you say that you got stick for being a teen mum but that’s not an excuse to criticise mums who needed IVF. How do you know that there aren’t physical issues that the man or woman would have faced if they had tried at 15?
IVF is a postcode lottery and (I think!) only one cycle is funded these days. A lot are going abroad and paying from their own pockets

I think it's a tv show of some kind, everyone dreams to be a reality tv "star" nowadays.
