How did Tyson Fury’s daughter get married at 16?

I thought they changed the law and you had to be 18 in the UK?

OP posts:
Greenwitchart · 17/05/2026 13:44

It is very young to get married and apparently they have only been together for a year.

I can't help but think that a 16 year old should be hanging out with her friends, getting and education and expending her knowledge of the world rather than embarking on family life.

'Culture' does not make it OK because 'culture' is never a justification for questionable behaviour or customs.

Regardless of whether she’s 16 or 18, I’m wishing Venezuela and Noah a huge congratulations and very best wishes for their married life. Beautiful girl, beautiful family, Paris is one inspiring mother and wife! 😍 Venezuela will no doubt follow in her mother’s footsteps and be a loyal and loving mother to more beautiful babies. Will follow with interest.

how is Paris inspiring? Have you seen their netflix show and how her husband treats her? It’s horrific.

QuintadosMalvados · 17/05/2026 13:44

She has a wonderful father in Tyson Fury.
Never have to worry about money.
Always be protected. Lucky girl.

Can't help but think this is some kind of bitterness because somebody of his background should not be rich.

As for her husband being an adult, he's 3 years older not 30!

Well said.

Mary46 · 17/05/2026 13:46

She looked fab. But they have no lives just cook and clean for the family.

Bristolandlazy · 17/05/2026 13:47

Google is your friend.

Sadly very normal in the traveller community. Women aren't valued, not allowed to be educated past age 11, and taught to be slaves to men cooking and cleaning, and other things that would get me banned from talking about. It's horrific.

Edited

Such ignorance.

JustAnUdea · 17/05/2026 13:47

If they are in love and meant to be together, waiting to get married shouldnt be an issue.

Boohoo76 · 17/05/2026 13:47

Lunarlightning · 17/05/2026 13:12

It's normal within the traveller community.
It's also none of your business.

Just because something is a cultural norm doesn’t mean we cannot challenge. How would women have ever got the vote if we didn’t challenge cultural norms?!

Yes we are all bitter because we are poor and someone else is rich Confused

lazymaw · 17/05/2026 13:47

You can legally marry in scotland at 16, that’s why people would run away to gretna to get married (english couples). I don’t know anyone though who has done this, even within traveller communities and I live next to one. The youngest I’ve known is 18.

Good luck to them…

hahabahbag · 17/05/2026 13:47

@Lunarlightning

protecting the vulnerable is everyone’s business, and legislation should be in place to ensure no communities are allowed to deprive their children of and education and childhood in the name of tradition or “our culture”. The boys are taken out of school too. The age of marriage should be risen to 18 urgently in all jurisdictions

Child protection! 😂

How much of Noah and Venezuela have you watched? She’s got her head screwed on and he is besotted. Lovely young couple.

Plenty of young people, funnily enough, do still prioritise romance, marriage and starting a family early. Good on them!

Romance? She’s learnt that this is what is expected of her.

We need to make up our minds as a society, a couple of weeks ago there was someone trying to arrange a babysitter for her 15 yo. And people excusing the behaviour of men in their early 20s because their brains aren’t fully developed.

Then we have people thinking it’s romantic for a 16 yo to get married 🙈

IPM · 17/05/2026 13:47

ThankYouNigel · 17/05/2026 13:34

Doubt it- they have both been brought up by their parents to respect marriage, and the longevity of marriage vows. Tyson spoke to strongly about that during the second series, and I respect that.

Have you any idea how many women Tyson Fury has fucked after he made those vows to Paris?? 👀

JacknDiane · 17/05/2026 13:49

lottlecat · 17/05/2026 13:13

Normal doesn’t mean ok. Do you k ow how women are treated in these communities? It’s not what I would want for my Daughters.

And? Is everyone got to live their lives according to your rules??

She's happy, the groom is happy, the parents are all happy. That's as much as anyone needs to know.

I wish them all the best.

ThejoyofNC · 17/05/2026 13:49

So much bullshit on this thread.

I would correct people but what's the fucking point. Think what you want about gypsies and travellers, we couldn't care less.

Enjoy your ignorance.

vsosi · 17/05/2026 13:49

It used to be our culture to participate in the slave trade and keep slaves. Should we have kept this culture? What other cultural traditions did we have. smacking kids in schools. Should we have respected that culture and kept it? Marital rape also used to be legal. Homosexuality used to be illegal. Cultures need to evolve.

“Culture” is used as a term to scare people into not commenting on things these days.

in Venezuela’s case, she’s fortunate that her family have a shit load of money and will be able to rescue her if the shit hits the fan.

Justusethebloodyphone · 17/05/2026 13:50

Lunarlightning · 17/05/2026 13:15

Are you a traveller? If not then do not comment on other cultural traditions.

People can comment on whatever they like. You may not agree with them but that’s irrelevant.

Badbadbunny · 17/05/2026 13:51

@GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing

This thread has taught me something I didn’t know - that child marriage (ie 16) is still legal in parts of the UK.

The IOM isn't part of the UK, hence it's own laws and why it's an international tax haven.

cvgji · 17/05/2026 13:52

JustAnUdea · 17/05/2026 13:47

If they are in love and meant to be together, waiting to get married shouldnt be an issue.

how many of us are still with the boy we loved at 16 though? Not many. There’s a reason for that!

Pieceofpurplesky · 17/05/2026 13:52

Lots of people stay with their partners from 16. My friend's parents met at 14, married at 16, two kids by 20 and just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. The difference is the marriage which is a traveller tradition which would not allow sex before marriage.
I wish them both a long and happy life together. They have as much chance as anyone else.

If you want to correct and educate people, please do. I would welcome a reasoned discussion. The fact is there never is one and all we get is defensive posts and ‘this is bullshit’ comments. I can only assume this is because you don’t have a sensible point to put forward. I’m happy to learn, what I have learned so far isn’t good and those who disagree can never say why or how things are not as we think.

FernFaery · 17/05/2026 13:53

Lunarlightning · 17/05/2026 13:09

She is from a traditional.traveller community. It's very normal

This. It’s not the same as a regular pair of 16 year olds getting married. This is her culture. They probably won’t end up divorced. Her parents did the same.

Badbadbunny · 17/05/2026 13:53

Lunarlightning · 17/05/2026 13:12

Yes, but the different "communities" still need to abide by the laws of the countries in which they live. If they don't like the laws where they live, they're free to bugger off elsewhere, just like Fury has moved to the IOM (as it's a tax haven and he obviously doesn't like paying UK taxes!!).

‘Always be protected’ - not from marrying ridiculously young and being expected to clean and have children though.

How do you know whether he is a good father or not?

I would rather be on the bones of my arse than have such limited choices
