I thought they changed the law and you had to be 18 in the UK?

Very good advice. Hopefully, that poster can take it on board. Smile (And hopefully the small handful of others on here who seem to think the English are loathed worldwide will take it on board too.)

As an English person, I have travelled fairly extensively over the years (some 2 dozen countries over 4 continents) and have found everyone I have met in every single country, to be polite and pleasant and welcoming. I have never experienced any vitriol or negativity. The only time I see it is on here (from a few people not many thankfully,) and occasionally on other internet forums. And it's always English people bashing the English... No-one I know in real life (who is English) hates the English. Not one person.

As you say, if you experience non English people being nasty about the English, then maybe you need to adjust your behaviour accordingly, because everyone I have met in other countries has been nothing but pleasant to me. (And people from other countries - who are visiting England or staying here - are pleasant and cordial too.) But then, I am pleasant and welcoming too. I have never given anyone any reason to be rude or unpleasant. Smile

They won't say it to your face Zov. Surely you realise that. They will say it behind your back.

I have never seen people insult English people to their face.

I have heard many people insult English people after they left the room.

Its not nice but it definitely exists.

Are you thick or did you just miss the part where I say she earns her own money? And yes that is definitely something to aspire to. Imagine being so loved, looked after and protected that you have not one but two men wanting to do the best by you. I get that you people don’t want that for yourselves and you pride education and all that but it’s not needed here we’re wired differently.

I’m not thick and I am also not rude.

She is known only because her parents are - how much would she earn if they weren’t. She isn’t earning by her own merits.

Imagine being so reliant on two men that you are incapable of independence. Women have fought and lost their lives to get girls and women into a position where they have choices. So yes I am proud of a culture that gives people opportunities to be more than a wife and mother, dependent on a man to feed and clothe her.

Bollocks

100% agree.

All this 'everyone all over the world hates the English' is just nonsense.

The people who are claiming that they are experiencing English hate.....

I wonder why..............? 🤔

Part of the reason could be that they won't leave people alone, even when they ask them to kindly stop hounding them...............

'The system..' ? 🤣
Education is a direct threat to a patriarchal structure. That is why it is denied to young girls in many cultures. Education empowers woman. It supports the development of critical thinking skills which is not conducive to enforcing maintaining the gender based roles expected of women in many cultures.
Education and exposure to all that it brings impacts on the ability to maintain such a misogynistic environment, can't have anyone challenging that 🙄
Denying girls the access to education has been used as a tool since, forever. Girls and women who have no real options are crucial to keeping the patriarchal status quo 🤷‍♀️

Education in itself is good

I think that many schools are crap. Look online and you will see countless news stories about bad behaviour in schools

I learnt more at home educating myself online in peace and quiet, than I ever learnt at school.

Its kind of sweet that you think because people are nice to your face that they are nice behind your back.

I was in a bar when a group of English people walked in. The bar owner said " ah my friends" to them.

When they had left, the bar owner said "I hate the English".

Its not nice. None of us are saying its nice. We are saying it happens.

That’s not true and I don’t know why yous think divorce doesn’t happen here. There’s many divorced woman and men in my community, most re-marry

Even more reason not to make yourself completely reliant on one person. It’s all well and good relying on a man to provide everything until he decides not to. Hard enough for anyone but with no education and no skills outside of domestic, it’s not like they can go out and earn. So presumably they then rely on family or whatever.

Because of who her father is. If he wasn’t famous she wouldn’t be earning because nobody would care what she had to say. So again a man has to give her opportunities

Yes but thats happened to lots of people though

Princess Andre
Harper Beckham

People arw only interested in them because of their parents. But if the interest is there they might aswell use it

We've had 25 pages of the entire traveller community getting dragged by stuck up English people who wouldn't know what good culture is if it slapped them in the face. I think it's rather poignant that now the tables have turned the same posters are getting very upset about their community coming under scrutiny.

Well, we (the UK) invented Goth, Punk and Heavy Metal so I'd say we're doing pretty well culture wise. The rest of the world ran with it and there's loads of offshoots now. Finland puts the rest of the world to shame with regards to metal bands now. Envy

Yes I am replying to you a lot. You sound like the Americans I see online whose hobby it is to trash talk the UK and those of us who live here. We are not a monolith. (Americans I've actually met seem to like the UK enough to live here.)

Poignant?

Clearly thicker than you think if I’ve had to remind you TWICE that the girl earns her own money. I’m a gypsy and every woman in my family works or have our own businesses. I’m sorry that we don’t fit your narrative in your head that we are tied up and made to breed and clean all day. We have our independence and have the choice to do what the fuck we like. So yep education is not needed here, we will always know how to earn money we aren’t relying on no education to teach us how

Girl please, we are wired differently to yous. We don’t need anyone out of our own to teach us how to earn money. I started a business from nothing to the point I’m the breadwinner and have just started a second business. We aren’t no damsels.

Wow. Gaslighting

That's not gaslighting. It's not twisting someone's perception so they question reality. It's an opinion, that you may or may not agree with.

I'll stop there before I go on a rant about how serious things get trivialised and/or overused to the point they become meaningless.
