So my neighbours teenage son has been smoking doobies in the garden with his parents consent. His father is a policeman and actually a firearms officer. I'm concerned that he may be using Ur at least getting high from the passive smoking. I want to report him to his superiors but DH is adamantly against it and says I'm being dramatic. Really between a rock and a hard place. AIBU if I report him?

I think anyone using the term 'hun' or 'hon', needs to be investigated. It's so passive aggressive.

Wingingit73 · 17/05/2026 06:55

You need to mind your own business.

Oh dear someone has nothing better to do then spy on the neighbours. Honestly how about you worry about your own life and family.

Agree except thus trash took herself out so I don't think we need to worry about her.
She's overdosed by now surely... Hopefully.

OneNewLeader · 17/05/2026 07:00

Don’t do it. It could backfire on you.

Witchonenowbob · 17/05/2026 07:00

This is the funniest thing I have read on here for ages. Hyacinth Bouquet meets the character from Baby Reindeer.

Classics please!

Alcohol legal and wears off the next day.. marijuana illegal and warps the brain. See the difference?

hahahahha you could use some. Your aweful and honestly a true nasty person. You obviously love to cause problems. I own a massive 6 bedroom home with a pool in a very nice area outright no mortgage. (not bragging just proving the point) Neighbours two doors up are selling drugs. I live and let live. My motto is to do something when I'm directly involved other than that I am nice smile and wave.

So you don’t want people who actually know something about the subject to reply to you? Just those who know nothing about it? How odd.

Oh yes alcohol has absolutely no bad effects on the body at all including the brain. 🙄

But the other I can, and do, get on a prescription. Medicated. Legal.
It's still weed.
Your alcohol (which you desparately need to lay off) is way more damaging and was also illegal once.

Weed is way better than alcohol and does have benefits unlike alcohol.

Mind your business, get off the crack and leave the bad analogies in the gutter, they made zero sense and don't back up your claim.

The neighbour is not your concern. What affect it has on them is not your concern.

If you are friendly with your neighbours you could, in a private conversation, tell the Dad that he might like to know that his son is smoking weed in the garden because you can smell it. Pretend that he doesn't know and that you think he would want to know.

Then just leave it.

Or ask for a hit.
Trust me, I think this unhinged individual needs it.

Sat watching countdown smoking a doobie more like. It's a gateway drug FYI.

For the child though not for the dad? I wouldn’t like it and yes I’d be even more irritated that it was a bobbys child but you don’t know the family circumstances, smoking cannabis supervised may be better than what he may be doing otherwise .

Solobanana · 17/05/2026 07:12

This made me chuckle. Needed a good laugh. In a side note- replies are ‘mean’ as your comments were also ‘mean’. You get the same energy back that you give. So look in the mirror and reflect- I’m sure you’ve got one in your 4 bed detached home, or ask your community for their true feelings. 🤣🤣🤣🤪🤣🤪

speckledpinkhen · 17/05/2026 07:14

I’d suggest you get a hobby. Sounds like you don’t have much else going on in your life.

Owly11 · 17/05/2026 07:14

I have always wondered what kind of person does this!!! Can you tell us more about yourself because seriously I am fascinated by what kind of life would bring a nosy neighbour to the point of trying to report their neighbour to their boss for a problem existing only in the mind of the nosy beak.

Laurmolonlabe · 17/05/2026 09:55

You would be making your life unreasonable if you report it- the Police will take a stance that bit's a very serious allegation and things will excalte from there- do you really want to be living next door to a firearms officer you got suspended?-and that is best case scenario.

MarchionessVonSausage · 17/05/2026 03:40

I have to lock up my dyson air wrap after a glass of wine, I fear facial mutilation.

😂 thanks so much for making me howl 😂

BillieWiper · 17/05/2026 11:00

Stop being so nosy. You do realise that other people's life choices are absolutely none of your business. You sound like a neighbour from hell!

thestudio · 17/05/2026 11:04

I honestly didn't know people like this really existed outside a sitcom.
