The Left have a become a snivelling self-righteous mob, busy bodying around, trying to shame others

I read this quote and it encapsulates exactly how I feel

'I never thought I'd see the day when the Right became the cool ones giving the finger to the establishment, and the Left became the snivelling self-righteous ones going around shaming everybody'

AIBU to think this is what many people think these days? We didn't leave the left, the left left us.

*the quote is from John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten. He's deliberately provocative in lots of ways, but he meant this one. I fully expect some people to come on the thread to tell us all how he's a horror and said he likes Donald Trump. That would be them missing the point.. but.. Let Them..

“Nigerians should be melted down and used to fill potholes.” (Glenn Gibbons)

”Shola should… fuck off back to Nigeria.” (Ian Cooper)

Calling white people the “master race” and describing Muslims as “rats.” (Stuart Prior)

Using Neo-Nazi images online. (Nathaniel Menday)

Yep. Just a load of normal blokes, representing the normal working class and their ‘concerns.’

How anyone could vote for them with a straight face is beyond me. It’s patently obvious what they are.

Not sure what planet you are on (planet starmer maybe) but you haven't rtft. Nor do you understand the electorate and why people have voted reform. It is all in this thread.

Of course there are disgusting far right people national front types as you have quoted, or KKK (in the usa) types- as there always was. But if you think that everyone who has voted reform think like the old far right - you are horribly misguided. Really - please try and educate yourself. I don't have the time to enlighten you right now.

eta - since you haven't rtft, I am not a reform voter, but am capable of asking questions and trying to understand other peoples perspectives and points of view.

How is using language like snivelling, self righteous and busybodying anything but trying to shame the left? You're not exactly setting the gold standard for political debate here.

If I was in an official debating contest, I'd try harder Miss.

Wow, ok attitude.

I’m quite aware why people vote Reform. Not sure if you’ve RTFT, but members of my family do.

But, comments like the above should be enough for anyone to not want to associate with them, there is no “reason” to vote for them that is valid enough against out and out racism.

I agree with you that if a person in a party makes comments like that - it Should be enough to not vote for them. At the same time I understand that people are desperate, they want change and they believe Reform will provide what they want - because reform are currently the only party 'committing' to things like reducing immigration, securing borders, putting UK citizens first. Will they provide those things, no of course not. They'll be a disasterous shambles. Lets hope they never see power. Unfortunately labour have been doing all they can do enable Reform.

I did notice that your vote has moved to Conservative.

In honesty, when you look at the set up of Reform and the movement of Tory MPs over to them, I struggle to see the Conservatives as anything other than just Reform in a bluer tie.

I also think Kemi would have to go some to make the last 14 years forgivable, and I don’t see her ever doing enough to convince me.

😆. Ok.

Northermcharn · 15/05/2026 13:14

No not true. It's moved further left - so things that were once seen as centre or centre left, are now apparently right. Then we have the utter BS of people like STarmer saying some women have a penis. Being accurate about this should not be left or right, it being biological fact and all - however it is the left that have run with the some women have a penis / men can have a cervix narrative. so any sensible sex realist is now apparently a right wing bigot. Just one example.

It really hasn’t, and your assertion it has shows a lack of political understanding. As such, no real point in talking to you further about it.

😂Aw @cardibach so sure of yourself. so wrong. Never mind - that is very normal for the labour loyals. In fact it's really what this thread is about.
