It’s bad because normalising kicking a suspect in the head is dangerous for us all.

Are you thinking of slitting someone's throat? being a suspect?

anniegun · 30/04/2026 14:16

Is it OK for the police to kick suspects in the head when they were down and tasered? This recent terrorist attack ended up with the wrong attacker being roughed up by the police Man alleges racial bias after Huntingdon train stabbing arrest - BBC News

Man alleges racial bias after Huntingdon train stabbing arrest

A 35-year-old, who was released with no further action, has gone to the police watchdog.

Hamas is evil.
Netanyahu is evil.
Trump is evil.
Putin is evil.
The IRGC is evil.

They all have blood on their hands.

Polanski is an idiot. But YABU to describe him as evil when his actions are nothing like those of the above.

I agree with this.

Evil is a step beyond how Polanski has behaved in my view. I still dislike him intensely though.

Woudn't want you as my martial art instructor-never heard that advice in my karate / self defence class

Is it run by the police? The police are expected to put themselves in harm’s way to secure the public safety - presumably your self defence class teaches you to remove yourself from it.

loislovesstewie · 30/04/2026 14:12

Both of them are completely cuckoo. I'm done with this, I really am. I didn't think I would see the day when people post such vile, antisemitic things.

It’s been being stirred up probably more noticeably over the last 10 years. The Marches attended by the useful idiots have provided a conduit for anti semites to infiltrate public consciousness. Everyone who attended one of these marches is complicit in every attack on the Jewish community IMO.

If they won't give up the weapon they just tried to kill you with, yes, it's fine.

It is not and of course we are taught to run away from danger whenever possible - but aiming for the head is counterproductive in taking someone down

loislovesstewie · 30/04/2026 14:22

I'm thinking back to when I went off to university over 50 years ago. We all noined the Jewish /Israeli society despite not being Jewish. We were pro Israel and against antisemitism. We joined in solidarity.
Now, I'm not sure the society still exists at that university.

Someone I know was seriously beaten by Police walking home from his night shift as a firefighter in the late 80s - he looked suspicious obviously because he was black. He sustained injuries which put him on light duties (ie not saving people in fires) and eventually got compensation. More recently a Sikh woman was raped and subject to horrific abuse because the attacker though she was Muslim.

I'm not in any way excusing the attack yesterday but nobody should be subject to violence or abuse because of their religion or ethnicity. Imagine being Jewish and going about your day in good old England and being killed for belonging to a faith and or ethnic group. Imagine being anybody that happened to.

Can we discuss the increasing attacks on Jewish people without disclaimers about all the other minorities?

Therescathairinmybath · 30/04/2026 14:22

A single strong kick in the genitals would have got him to drop the knife much more quickly, but I assume the police aren’t allowed to do this.

This is the beautiful example of exactly what I meant. This gentleman believes that the force used against him was unlawful. So what has he done? He has gone to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, who will either do a full investigation themselves, or order that it is done locally by the force (with the caveat that he can always appeal back to them if he disagrees with the outcome).

After too many horrendous incidents, we have many checks and balances over police power in this country. Do police get it wrong? Yes, and frequently. Should they be brought to account? Of course. But police do a difficult and frightening job (I could hear the fear in that officer's voice) and, having observed police officers in other jurisdictions, we really do not know how good we have it.

I am not a police officer, by the way.

AEIOYOU · 30/04/2026 14:25

CurlewKate · 30/04/2026 12:57

The whole point of a rule of law is that there are rules. And the police kicking an overpowered and secured suspect is not following that rule. However appalling that suspect is. Which in this case is obviously very.

Which law is that?

The terrorist wasn't overpowered or secured. They used reasonable force to disarm and detain him. Well done those police officers.

BreezyMintHiker · 30/04/2026 14:25

For the dim ones at the back.

NoisyHiker · 30/04/2026 14:27

Everanewbie · 30/04/2026 12:46

He had a knife in his hand and refused to drop it. They should have shot him dead.

Would have saved us all a lot of money. And probably future victims due to our toothless legal system.

But then I wouldn't lose sleep over any knife wielding scum being shot dead. Largely because I know anyone I care about would never be running around in public with a knife attacking people.

Secondtrythebest · 30/04/2026 14:27

ThatCyanCat · 30/04/2026 14:23

How so?

Most people cannot effectively kick high enough to reach the head, most people are not fast enough to punch someone in the head, any women will break the bones if their hand when they make contact with a male skull or jaws and so on

Are you being deliberately dense? Have you seen the footage?

The policeman isn't trying to roundhouse him into submission.

I agree with this.

Evil is a step beyond how Polanski has behaved in my view. I still dislike him intensely though.

As mentioned upthread he is in a pact to lead the party that is now filled with the Corbyn fans left bereft by Your Party's implosion who are convinced complaints of racism against Jews are smears funded by Israel. In 2016 Polanski was heckling Corbyn over his inability to stop racism but now he's claiming he was framed too, in an attempt to "mirror" the new left nutter fan base who adore him

Meanwhile, his deputy Mothin Ali has been discovered to be encouraging members suspended for hate speech against Jews to take legal action against the green party and to continue campaigning for the greens covertly

Calmos, I was responding to another question of a more theoretical nature

ThatCyanCat · 30/04/2026 14:33

I think a Green Party schism was inevitable, but honestly I thought it was going to come when the antisemites finally had to confront the perverts. Should have realised antisemitism was the stronger force and didn't need anyone else.

I didn't, but it's ok, you can believe it. The answer remains entirely irrelevant.
