Matcha, leggings with socks over, botox, yada yada yada

Wheredidallthegoodonesgo · 29/04/2026 19:45

So bored of it.

This is nearly every mum in my area, pilates & matcha, botox and handyman & cleaner recommendations. No depth, no real worries..basic.

Aibu to want to meet funny, down to earth mums with depth and interesting pasts and conversations?

Socks and leggings for a school pick up is a swinging thing.

What 🤣

Plain sports socks. Looks awful honestly, I don't get it?! One woman wears it plus crocs.

Plain?! I don't get it then.

I'm rather fond of novelty socks, so off the back of this thread I might start wearing my own socks over leggings so other people get to see them. Probably not what the OP intended.

ThatshallotBaby · 29/04/2026 22:25

Completely agree @Wheredidallthegoodonesgo I think I call them the ‘simply supers’

What 🤣

Its just where I live. Sorry, might not be nationwide.

I bloody love Botox. I realise that socks over leggings keeps me warm. They are primark white ones over vinted sweaty Betty. I am desperate to like matcha. Don’t. And I would love to have a cleaner but she is me and my handyman is my partner. I am sure I have no depth when I can’t be bothered and I am most certainly not funny. I am me though 😊

Edited

You sound lovely 🥰 I’m really not mean

nutsfornuts · 29/04/2026 22:30

They aren’t your people. I think it’s ok to say that. They aren’t worse than you, or better than you, they are just not for you.

I moved for this exact reason. The mums at my kids nursery did not interest me at all. The parents at my kids school (now I’ve moved) do.

Cherryicecreamx · 29/04/2026 22:31

I feel a bit called out having enjoyed my matcha today 😅 and since having an injury, I quite miss my pilates (such good stretches!)
I must say the socks over leggings trend hasn't gone unnoticed. Usually paired with a duvet coat.

Flyingkitez · 29/04/2026 22:34

I’m not sure you can judge someone’s depth on their socks tbh. Flavoured matcha isn’t bad either.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 29/04/2026 22:36

Well, I think if you can manage to do your pilates without spilling your matcha, then that's pretty impressive. And not boring at all.

TheChosenTwo · 29/04/2026 19:49

I wear leggings and socks to Pilates, the socks are part of the ‘uniform’ because it’s reformed so they’re especially sexy grip socks.
I don’t drink matcha though, is that okay? I also don’t yada yada yada so does that knock me up a step too? I’ve also never had Botox…
I’m quite a deep thinker and have lots of horrible worries.
I don’t really get your point but actually I don’t want to be your friend anyway so I think I’m okay without your praise.

All of this except I do get Botox, so sue me.
Im very funny and kind despite my leggings and socks. Not to judgey women who dislike me for no reason though.

Geminispark · 29/04/2026 22:42

I live in socks with leggings because it’s comfy, I have my own pilates reformer and I get Botox.
you’d probably judge me in the same way.
I also have a professional career, single parent, multiple health conditions including triple prolapse which is why I started reformer Pilates in the first place.
I speak multiple languages, love WW2 history, go to ballet class, I’m told a have a wicked sense of humour.
I think there will be more to some of these people you just haven’t got to know them.

Why so nasty about women you never met?

Just like the poster I quoted I’d like to to think I am a deep thinker and care about others. Whether I wear grip socks or get my eyebrows laminated doesn’t mean I am a vacuous being. I hold down a job and am a good role model for my kids and family who I love deeply. I volunteer in my spare time and have diverse interests such as gardening, hiking and reading. My friends think I’m funny and I try to see the good in people unless I am hungry or driving and running late.

This thread is atrocious. As @HeddaGarbled said: “woman likes popular things = shallow”

🙄😑

Agree its comfy. But today's uniform of oversized loungewear etc. won't age well because it's not aesthetically pleasing, it's quite unflattering. I think people will look back and cringe.

Popular fashion doesn’t tend to age well, not in the short term anyway.

If you look back at normal people in these clothes in ten years time you’ll probably cringe and have a good laugh about it but looking back at the equivalently popular fashions from 2016 or 2006 or 1996 now has the same effect.

Dreamcatcherat50 · 29/04/2026 23:03

I love matcha. Lavender cold foam mmmmmmmm!!!!

Gently OP. Feelings like this usually come from something in you. They're not your people. Fine so who is then and where will you find them?

SpaDaysForAll · 29/04/2026 23:03

I despise Botox. I can’t even take people with a face full of it seriously!

NoSoapJustUseShowerGel · 29/04/2026 23:05

I actually cringe when I see walking instagram cliches in the wild.

Cherrytree86 · 29/04/2026 23:05

Pilates and botox are mint. Have you tried them, OP? @Wheredidallthegoodonesgo If not, you are missing out

Heaven forbid a woman wears something that isn’t flattering. What will the men think?

I’m sure many will look back when they’re older and think ‘at least I was comfortable’.

It’s just fashion, If people want to follow it then good for them.

Some people make quite a lot of money from
Instagram and good on them for it. Looks more fun than a proper job (not that I could ever be arsed to do anything like that as I barely remember to brush my hair).

If it makes people happy to look a certain way then leave them to it, no need to cringe.

I don’t care, why would I? Unlike them I’m not trying to impress anyone.

No amount of money would tempt me to sell my privacy, clearly others are happy to do so.

But I wasn’t talking of actual influencers, just “real life” people who imitate them.

Ducklingfeet · 29/04/2026 23:16

Don't worry, OP. I'm sure if you look around you will find people with different skincare and exercise routines, who drink other kinds of hot drink and never wear leggings or socks. Hopefully they won't have good cleaners or handymen and will have lots of worries (perhaps because their houses are dirtier and poorly maintained?). This will make them interesting people and you will want to make friends with them.

Happyjoe · 29/04/2026 23:22

I had to look up what Matcha is!
And socks over leggins, heck, I grew up with the Jane Fonda era. That's old hat.

And yeah, must be dull, like living in Amandaland where you are :-). I presume though these are not friends so these are safe topics at the school gates?
