So bored of it.

This is nearly every mum in my area, pilates & matcha, botox and handyman & cleaner recommendations. No depth, no real worries..basic.

Aibu to want to meet funny, down to earth mums with depth and interesting pasts and conversations?

Milky green tea often with sauces added like cherry or chocolate 🤢

I’ve never got into matcha.

Sartre · 04/05/2026 11:13

I’d rather hear about Pilates and matcha than their kids. I get so bored talking to other mums who have no other conversation to offer than their kids. Dull as dishwater.

Basic.

Is being basic worse than being a ‘pick me’ though? It’s debatable.

Basic.

I'd rather be basic than at worst a troll on Mumsnet or at best judgmental and boring. Would love to hear what sets you apart from these other mums (e.g your rich and interesting life history!)

It’s just the current "uniform" for a certain age group. Trends move so fast now because of social media that everyone ends up looking like a carbon copy of each other. I don't think it’s unreasonable to find it a bit exhausting, but it’s harmless enough in the grand scheme of things.

Says who ? 🤣. I think this is the point though. Some people are not wearing things because they are 'good ' it's becauseca group of their 40 something pals are dressed in exactly the same!

@mommatoone

You sound quite judgmental. some of the realest, funniest and most interesting women I know fit that description.
