AIBU to think my colleague is lying about having two dogs?

I work with a work colleague on a one to one basis however I think she’s lied to me about having 2 dogs (she does have 1) as well as to various other work colleagues.

Why would she lie? Was it for extra time off because it was ill or something?

I can testify to that. Drank too much Hooch, flirted with and kissed a friend, woke up mortified and sober. No hair of the dog that morning. That was in 1996 and we are still together. That's 210 in dog years.

Why does it matter/ However if she is lying about work matters, that's another thing.

She brings one dog to work and pretends that the other one is at home.

Also - and assuming for a moment that this is a serious question asked by the OP (I'm not) - a kinder view might be that the colleague now has one dog, and one other has recently died. The colleague may be deeply grieving the loss of that dog and is not yet in a place where she feels able to say "I've only got one dog now."

There - that's a serious suggestion. Enough of that. Back to business.

@Dontlletmedownbruce I too fell at the altar of Hooch and Two Dogs in the 1990s on several occasions. Happy but vague days. I will clarify that at no time was I ever physically involved with Hooch (dog) - or Turner for that matter.

Maybe OP's colleague got drunk on Turner and Pooch, and was seeing double. Now she thinks she has two dogs but one just hides a lot.

Point of order; Cerberus (the mutant dog that guards the gates of hell in Greek mythology), in fact had three heads. So we don't need to worry about the OP's work colleague that she works with owning one of those. Unless the devious cow has disguised the middle head as a manky football that the other two heads are fighting over. We should be told.

She snapped and farted… tried to hide it by claiming it was a growl. Dog one denied all knowledge. Ergo, she now has to maintain the charade of a second growler. Her DH is very confused…
