How could it have been the 'plan all along' when Iran was attacked by Israel and the US, so they didn't start this thing off?

This war didn't start because Iran had a plan to cripple the Western economy! It started because the Americans attacked Iran. Anyone with half a brain cell would know that Iran would retaliate and it's biggest "weapon" is oil and the ability to with old oil supplies.

I don't think Iran was planning to be attacked by the US and Israel. They are responding to that attack. They need leverage to stop the war. This is part of that.

Iran is a violent authoritarian dictatorship, but Trump's approach is not going to change that. He's entered into a war with no thought of how to end it

6 weeks of jet fuel is a bit of a worry if you have a foreign holiday booked. But it might start the government actually building a decent agricultural policy to grow food in the UK.

I mean we as individuals are being fucked over with net zero on one hand, whilst farmers are paid not to farm.

I the valley i live in has a lovely walk across to the pub. The last mile is just fields of horses. It's prime agricultural land wasted.

Also the UK hasn't been self sufficient in food for about 250 years. It would be basically impossible to become so now.

Foreign holidays should be of least concern.
Cargo flights are more important, especially carrying medications.

Only Trump could engineer a situation in which Iran’s position appears reasonable whilst the US is acting like a rogue state, upsetting world stability and ruining economies.

Cargo flights carrying medical supplies will be prioritized.
Cargo flights carrying Temu shite from China won’t, nor will holiday flights.
However I haven’t seen any information from any government online saying there’s a crisis with aviation fuel and what they are going to do about it.

Israel and the US knew all of this before they started their illegal war but they bombed Iran anyway. They put their interests first before the stability of the entire world's economy. Israel and the US are a threat to us all, some people have been saying this for years now and asking our governments to do something about it. It's a pity that nobody listened.

Starting to think my DD won't get home from Canada for a month at end of June, or more likely not be able to get back again for her new term. And she may just need to stay out there. Ouch.

It is not going to cripple the economy in the way perhaps the OP is thinking, if there are fewer flights.

Much as I agree with the OP about Trump having no idea of the economic dependency we have on oil and Iran's part in that.

We currently produce 52% of our food and we throw away or waste a third of it. Half of all adults are overweight or obese.

Anyone with the vaguest grasp of maths, and who has ever flown over the UK, will be able to tell that we can feed ourselves if we needed to. It wouldn't be fun and would involve a lot of repurposing of land but it could be done.
