Ditzy women

... Drive me bloody bonkers. Just that really . I'm probably going to be flamed but seriously - I notice them more and more and maybe its my mindset ( driving, parking, meandering taking ages to decide in front of a supermarket fridge, forgetting appointments we've made, at work not knowing whst meetings are about etc.)

Anyone share my frustration!

And when people on here start bashing men, do you say ‘what about all the women?’ Hope so

Ask yourself why ‘ditsy men’ isn’t an expression you will have heard with any regularity. See also ‘shrill men’, ‘bossy men’, ‘hysterical men’. It’s not that complicated.

I am a woman. And no its not just them but mostly yes . How is that Sexism to want my own sex to be more ON IT . ARE YOU A DITZY ONE ?

Internalised misogyny

When do you go back to school for the new term again?

I disagree - most women I know are juggling work, family, appointments for kids, food shopping cooking, remembering everyone’s birthdays, keeping house clean, paying bills, booking holidays and days out. I think women are amazing!

We are ! And we do it all - perhaps I need to have more compassion for it but its precisely because of doing all these things I don't have patience with the ones that have all the time in the world to be slow and sometimes making themselves look incompetent and giggling like a school girl about it 😂

The woman I know who I would describe as ‘ditzy’ is actually a rocket scientist! An aeronautical engineer. But jeez to talk to her you’d wonder how she manages to get herself dressed in the morning.
There’s always been a type of person who acts hopeless and useless and somehow manages to get stuff done for them. And often these people are women.

WhatAMarvelousTune · 08/04/2026 16:05

Olivia Colman is bad for this I think. The woman got into Cambridge ffs (I appreciate she left quickly, but she did get in) but put her on the Graham Norton sofa and suddenly she is unable to string a coherent sentence together “oh gosh aren’t I so ridiculous I’ve literally completely forgotten every single thing about this film i starred in and that it is my job to promote ha ha ha what am I like”. I refuse to believe that’s her actual intellect, but I wish it was because putting it on is worse.

Being about the same age, I occasionally forget what I was talking about mid sentence. My brain is full and the RAM is a bit too small. The hard drive is fantastic.

tichbrew · 08/04/2026 16:12

@UniquePinkSwan And if anyone on a thread about a mans poor behaviour suggests women do the same do you also pop up to say "do you post the same about men on women bashing threads"? Hope so.🙄

ThePoshUns · 08/04/2026 16:13

The only people I see dithering in front of fridges are men

Wednesdaysotherchild · 08/04/2026 16:14

I’d take 10 ditsy women over one aggressive entitled man.

bluescarf · 08/04/2026 16:14

Really?

Seeing a snapshot, a brief moment of one woman’s life and you’re creating your own wild narrative that they are ‘ditsy?’

We all meander now and then when we’re not in a hurry, sometimes we’re so freaking stressed out we can’t decide whether we pull the fish fingers or the fish pie out the supermarket freezer.

This goes for men and women, surely?

You sound pretty stressed OP, think you need a quiet, restorative meander in the fresh air to soothe yourself.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 08/04/2026 16:14

I think I'd piss you off 😩 - i try to be together but my mind goes a mile and minute whilst my dd runs a mile a minute! Chaos today

FallacySunken · 08/04/2026 15:34

I have to say that I hate the trope that appears on films. The clumsy young woman in her 20s or 30s, tripping over on her way to the office, being clumsy, forgetful, grabbing her breakfast, dropping her handbag and spilling her coffee etc. I have seen it in so many films now. The women I know do not behave like this and I absolutely hate the portrayal. Once you notice it, you see it in a lot of TV programmes and film films.

The Adorkable trope

That's super interesting! Perhaps some decide they want to act that way ? Is it clever or bizarre I don't know but thanks for sharing !

At least women don't (as a general rule) blast my ears with tuneless whistling in the supermarket.

😄😂 What on earth are you talking about? I swear this isn't a thing.

I think whistling went out of fashion in the 70s.

No. Women keep this world going, mostly invisibly. How about we talk about ditzy men instead? You know, those men who contrive to be so bad at general admin, laundry, housework etc that they are excused from doing it because they make such a mess of it and can ONLY do the job they are actually paid to do? Lots of that kind of ditzy man about.

Wingingit73 · 08/04/2026 16:17

You sound quite the delight.

It's your issue. You are the one who started the thread because you are angry about "ditzy women". I don't give a fuck about people taking a second longer about something that some other dickhead thinks should be done faster. I do care about people spouting sexist bullshit, whether they are male or female.

You asked the question whether it's your mindset that is the problem. Clearly you've got your answer.

In short, calm down dear. 😘

Muffinmam · 08/04/2026 16:20

It’s perimenopause. Drop in hormones make even intelligent women behave as if they are intellectually challenged. Today I started pushing around a shopping trolley filled with rubbish (mistaking it for my own trolley). I put pantry items in the fridge and then can’t find them.

I do things without thinking.

In respect to people standing in aisles when you are trying to shop - men do this where I live. It’s your demographic. I live in a demographic where there are a lot of single men. You likely live in a demographic with perimenopausal women.

I'm pretty sure Olivia Coleman went to Homerton College when it was just a loosely affiliated teachers training college in the 90s. She didn't get into or attend Cambridge University in the proper sense which people would really think of it.

Otterloverfrenchielady · 08/04/2026 16:21

how do you feel about ditsy men? Or is it just because they are women you hate them?

Wellwhatnowbellaboo · 08/04/2026 16:21

blubberball · 08/04/2026 16:15

The Adorkable trope

This is exactly the type I'm talking about ... and if on TV it almost makes it a desirable thing I would imagine? So irritating in real life 😂

Namechangefordaughterevasion · 08/04/2026 16:22

The OP has described Dylan Mulvaney. An old fashioned Betty Boop style of misogyny.

They only person know who acts that way is my (very clever) husband. In his case I think it's weaponised incompetence.

I still whistle, usually when getting changed at the Lido. Not tunelessly, though - I can offer you the Belfast Hornpipe, Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend, or a little smattering of Mozart!
I did get told off by an older Black lady once - she said only men should whistle, and it was bad luck for girls to do so.

Never in my life met a ditzy man sadly but I work in corporate with a lot of senior men so maybe that's why. It would irritate me equally as much I'd think

oviraptor21 · 08/04/2026 16:23

More dithery men than ditzy women in my experience. So I tend not to look at the sex and just get irritated by the actions - or lack of!
