Six year old trans girl ‘tries to cut off her penis’ after Guide ban

Quite a disturbing article in this morning’s Observer regarding the impact of the Guides’ ban on trans girls following the Supreme Court ruling.

It reports on the experience of one six year old trans girl named Emily after hearing she could no longer attend Rainbows:

Emily’s parents decided to be honest with their daughter about the situation, and explained that she was no longer able to take part in Rainbows because she was trans. A few hours later Curt said they found her “sobbing in her room” and were “shocked” to find her holding a pair of plastic scissors to her penis.

AIBU to find this a distressing consequence of campaign by anti-trans activists or is it a natural result of allowing such young children to change their gender identity?

My DD16 and DS14 go to the gym together serval times a week. They are both athletes and work out and train as hard as each other.

My 14yo son can lift significantly heavier weights than my 16yo daughter. He is stronger, faster, and developing a lot quicker.

That’s just biology. Which is why all sports segregate biological sex.

Any child that wants to cut part of their body off because they can't go to Rainbows has some very serious mental health issues and really needs serious help. That is not a normal response to 'you can't go to Rainbows anymore'.

I mean children are told things that are a million billion times worse than this, their grandparent has died, their dad is moving out, their dog that they've grown up with is going to have to be put down. Extremely difficult things happen to children - not being able to go to an hour long after school group any more is not one of them and should not mean you consider cutting off part of your body.

Make Women Women Again.

I am doing a strongwoman competition in a few weeks. The beginners female category the max deadlift is 120kg, the male beginners it’s 200kg. The same applies to every category.

Because like it or not those born male have strength advantages. It would be very unfair for a trans woman to compete against me because they have a natural advantage that no amount of training can overcome!

The most sensible solution to all this would be for parents to stop allowing their children to believe that they can change sex. Yes you can wear pink, yes you can play with dolls, no you cannot become a girl.

They weren't assigned male at birth, they were born male and that's why they should be banned from playing a sport they love WITH GIRLS. Not banned from from playing it, just banned from playing it with girls.

If women are so welcome in men's loos then I guess there won't be any problem with trans women using the correct loos for their sex will there?

Although when I was in my early 20's and very, very drunk at a club with a long queue for the ladies I went in the mens and I can tell you now the men at the urinals were not impressed at all and i was asked to leave. Obviously that was because I was actually a woman though.

What a very, very odd thing to write to The Guardian about - why on earth would you do that? I mean a woman in the men's loos is completely different from a man in the women's loos anyway. Men are extremely unlikely to be at risk sexually or physically from a woman in the way that women are from men. It smacks of clutching at straws I guess.

Yes, that's in exceptionally poor taste.

Trans women are men. They are not ‘assigned male at birth’ their sex is recorded, accurately. If they then decide to adopt stereotypically feminine behaviours etc, they are still men, in male bodies. They should compete against other men, in sports, not women, because being male gives them physiological difference, and no wig, make up and pink gym leggings can change that.

Trans woman is a category of woman just like black women are a category of woman.

The rule changes apply to adult volunteers as well and I'm glad that men like Monica Sulley will no longer be able to take female only roles in Guiding

The 6 year old is a boy. Girls need separate, single sex spaces fir a,whole variety of reasons. This child should have been taken to beavers in the first place.

Do you know, I nearly did write "black women are equivalent to men" but it's so indescribably offensive and racist (not to mention fucking STUPID) that I was worried someone might not realise it was definitely not my position and I'd get into trouble.

Why the feck we're trying to reason with them escapes me (and I know I've been trying to myself)

Do you not care about the privacy, dignity and safety of biological women? Or as I call them, women? Because transwomen are men.

If men who identify as women want privacy, dignity and safety for themselves, they should campaign for their own spaces and campaign to stop men being violent towards other men who don't conform to male stereotypes.

We know that men identifying as trans have used access to female single sex facilities to rape and assault women.

If you come back and say that women get assaulted in these spaces anyway, my question is why make it easier for men to do that?

I did wonder, but all this absurd shite is exactly what they do sound like and what they say, word for word, so they are impossible to parody. You have to look for things like the username to get a clue.
