Six year old trans girl ‘tries to cut off her penis’ after Guide ban

Quite a disturbing article in this morning’s Observer regarding the impact of the Guides’ ban on trans girls following the Supreme Court ruling.

It reports on the experience of one six year old trans girl named Emily after hearing she could no longer attend Rainbows:

Emily’s parents decided to be honest with their daughter about the situation, and explained that she was no longer able to take part in Rainbows because she was trans. A few hours later Curt said they found her “sobbing in her room” and were “shocked” to find her holding a pair of plastic scissors to her penis.

AIBU to find this a distressing consequence of campaign by anti-trans activists or is it a natural result of allowing such young children to change their gender identity?

In the last decade all I have seen is biological women comprising more and more.

I wish someone had told me recognising sex in humans was a central tenet of far right ideology sooner. I'd have done better in my Politics A level. Especially if they'd also told me it was far right to cave to pressure from objective fact. Would have given me grounds to name my own grade.

That child needs serious mental health parents, not parents who go along with the lie that he can change sex.

All these years and years - decades and decades - of women fighting to be heard, to be respected, to have the vote, to be able to have financial independence, to be able to have a job, to be recognised at work, to be thought of as a human being with rights; and it's nigh on gone to shit in less than a decade because of TRAs. My niece is a middle distance athlete. She wrote a dissertation on the issue for her EPQ (got the A* in it) and has written at length about it through her science degrees. She knows full well how much faster even mediocre men can run than she can.

You see, the statistics tell the story - no amount of "ooh, but you should be KIND to the trans-identifying men" will change the plain fact that we play sport and compete with our sexed bodies, not our imaginations.

Trans women are not assigned male at birth, chromosomes they are born with dictate they are male. You do remember chromosomes, you know they dictate if you are male or female , with occasionally some mess ups for intersex? They are not randomly assigned either sex.

In this childs case it was XY chromosomes so they are male. That then leads to puberty etc which is completely different to female puberty and means an unfair disadvantage to women so no they should not be treated as women from the perspective of sport categorisation, just look at what happens when that is allowed

The Guardian may well have unearthed a woman with no boundaries and no sense of privacy from men (and no respect for men’s privacy), it’s very convenient for their obvious agenda.

It doesn’t mean the vast majority of normal women and men want mixed sex spaces as a rule. Sex is not an ‘identity group’. I’m sure you know this.

The Green Party position is that trans women are women, and should have access to female spaces alongside non-binary people.

Until we reach a position where all facilities are multi-gender, the Greens’ position would avoid trans people being so distressed that a six year old girl tries to cut her penis off.

You are aware of the ruling last year about the legal definition of a women? So no doubt the UK Supreme Court has also ‘caved ln’

The reality is no one has caved in, they have simply made it clear that your chromosomes at birth state you are male or female. That now is carried forward into the workplace and sport

That you seem to think it acceptable that it’s ok for say a male boxer to decide they are female, take part in female boxing and kick the shit out of them ( just look at the recent Olympics) is shameful

The Greens position is that women have to give up their boundaries and basic safeguarding so that they can give men everything they want.

No qualms at all. I congratulate him in fact on having the balls (not unlike the 6 year old boy) to challenge it and state fact as opposed to the arseflaps we have who can’t or won’t differentiate between Chromosomes. #teamtrump
