Six year old trans girl ‘tries to cut off her penis’ after Guide ban

Quite a disturbing article in this morning’s Observer regarding the impact of the Guides’ ban on trans girls following the Supreme Court ruling.

It reports on the experience of one six year old trans girl named Emily after hearing she could no longer attend Rainbows:

Emily’s parents decided to be honest with their daughter about the situation, and explained that she was no longer able to take part in Rainbows because she was trans. A few hours later Curt said they found her “sobbing in her room” and were “shocked” to find her holding a pair of plastic scissors to her penis.

AIBU to find this a distressing consequence of campaign by anti-trans activists or is it a natural result of allowing such young children to change their gender identity?

So, so sad. This little boy must be very, very distressed. What on earth were his parents thinking to encourage him to think he was a girl? He's just a child.

I blame the parents.

Come on OP, switch your critical thinking skills on. He's not entitled to attend, he was never entitled to attend. He has been failed and lied to by multiple adults and he needs help.

My daughter doesn't want boys in her Brownies however they think of themselves, and you don't get to give away her single sex activity. Would you like me to tell her that she is being mean and some boys might threaten to hurt themselves so she should just give in and put up with having her rights preferences and boundaries trampled? Shut up and play along with peretuating lies to other children. No thanks.

If this is real (the poor child if so), it kind of serves to exemplify that the safety and rights of little girls should not be the collateral damage of mentally unwell little boys and the entitlement of their parents.

I get the feeling some people have been watching too many episodes of Rugrats! It was amazing just how many escapades and problems those babies solved and the thought- provoking, full blown conversations they had every episode despite their age.

It's just the usual misogyny of seeing women and girls as resources/support humans/human shields/validation background players for men and boys.

Yes, this is the end game. TRAs would ideally like the option where we keep single sex spaces but trans women are legally defined as women so they have full access to them. That's what they would find the most 'validating'.

In my daughter’s school’s basketball team there was one girl who was bigger and faster than all the others in the mixed team. She basically ran up and down the court scoring and no-one got a look in. I have no idea how the rest of the team felt but it looked bad to me. I took that as an error in coaching rather than the fault of the girl who was just playing a game to the best of her ability.

No. Transwomen are biological males and will never be women.

No to everything being mixed gender sex.

Yes to more mental health support to those who think humans can change sex.

Yes to more criminal charges relating to voyeurism and flashing and abusive parenting.

Together with their push for puberty blockers, I'm really disturbed at the measures this ideology goes to to assign full autonomy to six year olds, and to create a generation of people who are legally and chronologically 16 or 18, but physically 12.

How can you not understand how this is as dim as saying ‘we should respect his wishes to run in front of a car.’

Affirming a child as the sex they are not is abusive.

I do not believe a six year iis as aware as this about being trans or sexuality and gender issue unless an adult has been in their ear and putting ideas in their head.

Ironically, the children being "weaponised" are those whose parents are encouraging to believe they can change sex.

I seriously doubt there is a mass exodus of members. I will now be happy for my daughter to sign up to Rainbows when the time comes and il consider volunteering. I wouldnt have done either previously
