I have Phantom of the Opera and Pride: The Musical booked, which are within the next few weeks.

I’ll also buy tickets for Operation Mincemeat and Owain and Henry soon, which are later on in the year.

What about you?

Were those of you who were trying to get Leslie Hamilton tickets today successful?

I was.

I cannot wait!

For mine yesterday with DMT+ presale but they didn’t have any access pricing, really disappointed in DMT for this tbh.

I think my dd got some , she asked if wanted to go, but got a lot on so said no.
Dd goes to theatre 2 or 3 times a week!

Ilovelurchers · 12/03/2026 18:21

Taking my teenager to see Hamilton for her birthday (she loves musical theatre).

And have a few trips coming up with work. (I teach in an area of high deprivation and try my hardest to get reduced rate tickets to take the kids to see things, as for most of our families, a family trip to the theatre is sadly an impossible dream). Seeing Jekyll and Hyde in Birmingham, Blood Brothers in Lichfield, and Midsummer Night's Dream in Stratford....

BoredZelda · 12/03/2026 18:42

I got my Hamilton tickets today! So excited!

Access pricing? As in accessible tickets? I called the phone line and got mine. It took a good few attempts to get past the ‘sorry we’re too busy’ message, but eventually got in the queue and then was on hold for about an hour and a half.

Yes, not able to call them sadly, have my tickets now anyway so too late even if I could. It’s good to know they are still offering them though, even if you can’t get them online as usual.

snowymarbles · 12/03/2026 19:06

I was 128k in the queue for Hamiltion. I moved 63k in about 3 hours. I only managed to get in the top
of the queue once I had taken a 2 hour flight about 4.30ish uk time. Unfortunately everything left was £175 plus which was out of budget.

JustSawJohnny · 12/03/2026 19:07

Took DS to see Stranger Things: The First Shadow last weekend.

BRILLIANT!

Thinking about taking him to see The Hunger Games show but have heard mixed reviews - Anyone seen it?

JustSawJohnny · 12/03/2026 19:12

ohyesido · 07/03/2026 13:32

I always wanted to see 2.22 but never got around to it

It's still touring and tickets are available.x.

Legally Blonde, Allegra, High Society, I'm Sorry Prime Minister, Single White Female and Jersey Boys all already booked. I need to get Jack and Sarah at the Mill at Sonning booked, and I want to see Operation Mincemeat and Avenue Q as definites among others.

Avenue Q is so funny!

somanychristmaslights · 07/03/2026 18:07

Stranger things first shadow is absolutely amazing!! I’m not a big theatre goer but never seen special effects like it.

Hard agree. The staging is incredible. It left me wondering how they'd done some of it.

Incredible show.

henlake7 · 12/03/2026 19:21

I'm going to a classical concert at the end of the month at a cathedral, looking forward to it.
I don't have much money so always looking out for local small scale stuff to do.

Bikergran · 12/03/2026 19:22

Well, just yesterday I was toying with the idea of going to a matinée of Murder on the Orient Express, (local theatre, touring company) but the cheapest seats were £45 each. Frankly the theatre is just too expensive for me now. I used to go to the public dress rehearsals which were really cheap, queue up and pay for tickets on the day, but they've stopped those now. All my life I have been a regular theatre goer, but it's out of my price range now, and I do miss it.

PropertyD · 12/03/2026 19:24

Dracula. Only a short run and not at all gory!

Aspoon · 12/03/2026 19:28

I want to see Avenue q, beetlejuice (when they’re out) and the producers which is on currently. Don’t think I’m going to get to any because of the cost, as don’t live in London, but I can dream!

Cheeringmeup · 12/03/2026 19:34

I have a good few things booked in the next few months, with friends or my adult children - all at various Glasgow theatres:
This Saturday - Waiting for Godot at the Citizens
Next week - Medea at the Tron
May - Sweat at the Citizens
June - Single White Female at Theatre Royal
July - Mean Girls at King's Theatre
August - Silence of the Lambs at Theatre Royal

Already this year have seen Scottish Ballet's The Snow Queen, Uncanny: Fear of the dark and Scottish Opera's The Great Wave.

Have loved all of them, theatre is my absolutely favourite thing. Will also see some things outdoors in the Summer at "Bard in the Botanics". Also some gigs 😃

BillieWiper · 12/03/2026 19:37

I wanted to go to guys and dolls with my mum as it's her favourite but missed it.
Id like to see Book of Mormon and Jerry Springer the Musical.
And opera wise Id like to see don Giovanni.

Um... are there any Owain & Henry seats left? It was looking pretty full when I booked a few weeks back, just after I saw Our Town in Mold.

I try to go to the theatre a lot, but I don't go nearly as much as I used to pre covid, prices have risen a lot and there is far less on that appeals to me these days, I find. I still have quite a few things booked:

Saw Ballet Shoes at the NT twice in January
Our Town @ Theatr Clwyd last month
Ladies Football Club and Living next week, both in Sheffield
Arturo Ui at the RSC in April
May is busy -
Small Island in Nottingham
By a Lady in Buxton
Malory Towers in Coventry
Spitfire Girls in Scarborough
Then in June, Malory Towers again in Manchester
Cherry Orchard at the RSC in July
Pride and Prejudice (*sort of) in October in Buxton
Owain v Henry in Cardiff in November

My absolute favourite thing I've seen in recent years is the Pride and Prejudice sort of, which i adore. I've seen i think 3 casts now. I first saw it before covid, then again during when it was in London, then multiple times in several places when it's toured since.

Sienna Arif Knights who plays Petrova in Ballet Shoes at the NT this year (i saw this year and last years, lovely production) plays Sally Hope in the bbc version of Malory Towers

I only found out about DMT+ at 9.15am. I immediately joined, only to discover they closed their unique booking link.

Thankful I was successful later, but it was a long wait in the queue and 5 times being kicked out at checkout. It got hairy!

I saw this as one of the National Theatre Live type events. If they ever do this again, move heaven and earth to see it. It’s fantastic. But also very hard hitting and moving. I wasn’t the only woman in the audience openly weeping at the end.

It's a plan C option, but National Theatre have shown this on National Theatre at home.

Obviously, on stage would be better, followed by the big screen.

I loved it though, even watching at home. On the plus side, I did watch it more than once.

Saw it not long ago and thought the poor reviews I’d seen were very unfair - it’s a hard thing to stage and I thought they did a great job! There’s a couple of bits that fell flat but it didn’t detract from the show.

Most of the negatives I've seen are around it being all action, no emotion BUT that's probably best for my 12 year old DS anyway.

Thanks hun, I might give it a go then.x.

@Miranda65 saw Road by Jim Cartwright last night at the Royal Exchange in Manchester, very good! I'll check out Two, thanks for the recommendation.

Edited

Saw this at weekend - so good!

SeriousTissues · 12/03/2026 20:45

I think I only have Miss Saigon and The Bodyguard booked. Want to see Operation Mincemeat. Possibly will go to see Macbeth. Also Little Shop of Horrors is one we’d like to see.
