I have Phantom of the Opera and Pride: The Musical booked, which are within the next few weeks.

I’ll also buy tickets for Operation Mincemeat and Owain and Henry soon, which are later on in the year.

What about you?

I really wanted to see Prima Facie as the book was amazing and I love Jodie Comer. Tickets on the only day we could go were £95 each though and all booked out way in advance. We've been to the West End cheaper!

I saw this in Leeds (City Varieties) via the National Theatre screening thing....it worked quite well actually

JustMeHello · 07/03/2026 17:49

I saw an NT screening of Prima Facie too. It's fantastic, and very very good and powerful, but not something I'd feel up to seeing a second time.

I love cinema screenings though, I see lots of them as I don't live in London and it does make it so accessible. There havr been some fabulous ones.

We saw ‘Into the Woods’ last weekend which was brilliant. I think we’re seeing ‘Inter Alia’ next. We live just outside London and are newly empty nesters so enjoying the freedom of seeing shows.

Loved both of these! Good tips.

Thanks, I've read all his books.

Do you remember the old mumsnet thread where a poster asked for an autograph and he wrote whore or suchlike in the book 😧was a while ago now!

I found the total opposite. West End prices for Prima Facie were all £100+ once reviews were out, which couldn’t justify - and it soon sold out via word of mouth.

Having seen the NT Live cinema broadcast, and it being one of the best things I have ever seen (I work in the industry and I see around 40 shows a year), when the regional tour was announced I knew I had to throw what ever money I had at it to see it in person… I got excellent stalls seats for Birminigham £49.50 so a total bargain.

A few tickets are coming up on Twickets , but they go quickly.

I have just come out of Fawlty Towers in Southampton. It was great and the actors playing basil, Sybil and manuel were fantastic. Basil in particular. He had the physical comedic abilities of John Cleese down to a t. I want to see Annie and Operation Mincemeat also. I don’t go to the theatre very often but feel like I have to go more often.

We went to the Fawlty Towers show last year and thought it was dire , we left at the interval .

Vgbeat · 07/03/2026 18:06

We've got Something Rotten, Beetlejuice and Witness for the Prosecution booked for the summer.

somanychristmaslights · 07/03/2026 18:07

Stranger things first shadow is absolutely amazing!! I’m not a big theatre goer but never seen special effects like it.

I really want to see Moulin Rouge and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Such a faff getting to and staying in London though

Moulin Rouge will be touring the UK this year.

Seventyandlovingit · 07/03/2026 18:26

I've just finished directing an amateur panto of Cinderella which was brilliant fun! We're doing Hound of the Baskervilles in October, panto of Wind in the Willows next February and It's A Wonderful Life next October. Professional theatre wise, I'm going to Harold Fry later this month. I was lucky enough to be at one of the dress rehearsals and it really is amazing. Katy Rudd has such a vision (she directed Ballet Shoes as well). Also going to Cabaret in May for my daughter's 40th, and I'm really looking forward to it!

Also hoping to get Hamilton tickets for the summer session. Last saw the OG London cast so it’s been a while!
I have lots in the diary but first up I’m going to see Arcadia again before it closes and Dangerous Liaisons at the NT.

I'm going to see Arcadia. Looking forward to it because it really seems a play that comes alive with performance rather than reading it.

Have had to accompany my partner to London a few times on the last few years so have seen the david Harewood/Toby Jones Othello, dear England, the weir, the lehman trilogy, and Giant. John Lithgow's performance in Giant was the best theatre performance I've ever seen

I really didn’t like moulin rouge. They’ve “modernised” it with more up to date songs, but it’s made it very karaoke and lost the darkness of the film.

Sadcafe · 07/03/2026 18:37

I’d like to see the new Paddington musical, but unless it tours, won’t happen, London prices for decent seats are way above what I’d pay, just booked good seats for Billy Elliot in Sunderland, they were expensive enough but I probably couldn’t buy one ticket in London for the cost of two in the regional theatres

JustMeHello · 07/03/2026 18:37

Vgbeat · 07/03/2026 18:06

Ooh yes, I keep forgetting I want to book for Something Rotten! I heard Elaine Paige playing a song just before covid, and saying it was coming to London that summer, and I've been looking forward to it ever since, lol. Covid was so awful for theatre...

VividPinkTraybake · 07/03/2026 18:42

Oh also seen the Matthew Kelly 'waiting for godot' which was exceptional

ay30916 · 07/03/2026 18:45

What do people think of Mean Girls? I’ve been tempted by this a couple of times but then couldn’t decide.

I really want to see Waitress & Back to the Future. I’m going to book tickets but both fall in school hols for when they are close to me so I’m holding off whilst we figure out when we can go.

farmlass · 07/03/2026 18:46

Going to see musical “One Day” next week .
Would love to see “The Truth “ Steven Mangan and Ardal O’Hanlan

AquariunLady · 07/03/2026 18:48

The Mayflower, Southampton feels like my second home at times! So lucky to see such a variety of touring shows. Legally Blonde last week - Amber Davies was tiny but a powerhouse. Thursday matinee so the school groups added another layer! My favourite song was about the pool guy on the witness stand - "Is he gay or just European?" Red Shoes next week (loving the love above), Priscilla Queen of the Desert with Kevin Clifton (him & Stacey Dooley were great in 2:22 a few months ago), To Kill A Mockingbird, Operation Mincemeat as loved the film. Then Woman in Black and Don Quixote by Birmingham Royal Ballet.

poolcrew · 07/03/2026 18:50

So far this year I have seen - Book of Mormon, 2:22, Friends Parody, Steps musical and Miss Saigon. Still to go are Priscilla, Phantom, Mean Girls and Moulin Rouge. Very varied selection 😂

Figgygal · 07/03/2026 18:59

I would love to see Kenneth branagh in the tempest and Jonathan Geoff in as you like it both with the RSC at Stratford.

We are lucky to be local to Bristol where the greatest showman is debuting but relying on resale tickets as stupidly even though I had a presale link I didn't buy them

Operation mincemeat, miss Saigon, Matilda and back to the future (I've seen it but think the kids would enjoy) are also on the list.

And yes would love to see Lesley Odom Jnr in Hamilton but saw it last year and felt like I've seen the original cast recording so many times it just couldn't compare

Next year I would like to see Mrs doubtfire I don't know why

Agree one of my favourite films and think the musical was fine in it's own right but you need to definitely separate it From film

Oxborn · 07/03/2026 19:02

Dirty dancing but not til Oct Whitney queen of night next month

gohomeroger1 · 07/03/2026 19:03

Midsomer Murders in 2 weeks

AllJoyAndNoFun · 07/03/2026 19:05

The current run of All My Sons at the Wyndham is great as is Every Brilliant Thing, particularly if you like something a bit shorter so you've got time for dinner afterwards!

NigelFromAccounts · 07/03/2026 19:07

Operation Mincemeat is outstanding. Seen it twice, seeing it again in September.
I also have Pride and Choir of Man upcoming. Recently saw the Steps musical which was fun!

I want to see Legally Blonde, Mean Girls, Paddington, Hadestown.
