I have Phantom of the Opera and Pride: The Musical booked, which are within the next few weeks.

I’ll also buy tickets for Operation Mincemeat and Owain and Henry soon, which are later on in the year.

What about you?

I've remembered a £50 theatre token that has been in my inbox for two years - I've booked matinee of Into the Woods and evening performance of One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest ON THE SAME DAY. buoyant with the beauty of Sondheim, then brought right back down to earth with the bleakness of Cuckoos Nest, but I can't resist Michelle Gomez as Ratched.

PrincessPig · 09/03/2026 21:23

I have booked tickets for Annie and also Paddington the musical. Both are for the kids really. One will love Annie ans just she and I are going to that. I am hoping everyone will like Paddington. I have heard it is good.

TheatreTraveller · 09/03/2026 21:57

We've just been to see Matilda last month, and MJ the Musical a couple of weeks beforehand.

Seeing Percy Jackson this week, then Lion King in London at Easter, later in the year I have Barnum, Six and Moulin Rouge booked. Hoping to book Burlesque and Hunger Games. It's so expensive for us to get down to London though.

TragicMuse · 09/03/2026 22:13

I’ve got Mark Gatiss in Arturo Ui at the RSC in Stratford next month, Gary Oldman in Krapp’s Last Tape in May and Tilda Swindon in Man To Man in September, both at the Rpyal Court.

Very excited about all of them!

MargaretThursday · 09/03/2026 22:33

Les Mis

Going to see

I saw Arcadia last week.

Have The Tempest and The Cherry Orchard booked in Stratford upon Avon. I'm quite tempted by Middlemarch in 2 parts.

Want to see Les Miserables later this year as I'm currently doing the read along.

I think DD wants to see Beetlejuice and also possibly Six.

I’d like to see the new Paddington musical, but unless it tours, won’t happen, London prices for decent seats are way above what I’d pay, just booked good seats for Billy Elliot in Sunderland, they were expensive enough but I probably couldn’t buy one ticket in London for the cost of two in the regional theatres

If you look for Paddington much later in the year (or next year) you'll still get an excellent seat for less than £100.

Theatremama · 09/03/2026 23:08

We’ve seen Back To The Future and Legally Blonde this year. We have tickets to see Waitress, Mean Girls, Mrs Doubtfire and Paddington. Love a night out at the theatre 😊.

NoLuckDuck · 09/03/2026 23:24

Our local drama group just did a twist on an Agatha Christie mystery. It was absolutely excellent.

Saw To Kill a Mockingbird last week and it was incredible. Best stage play I’ve seen in years - wonderful adaptation, beautifully acted and staged.

I really wanted to see Prima Facie as the book was amazing and I love Jodie Comer. Tickets on the only day we could go were £95 each though and all booked out way in advance. We've been to the West End cheaper!

Wow - I have tickets for Saturday at Birmingham Rep which should have been £45 but I got them for £38 as a ‘Friend’. I expected it to be more and would have paid it as I missed out the first time round.

After that I have Come From Away (amateur), The Greatest Showman, Les Mis concert, Sweeney Todd, Legally Blonde, and The Mousetrap.

What did you think about Back to the Future?

I love the film and I loved the musical.

I didn't know any of the songs before I went.

It's got a real energy to it as a production. Definitely worth a watch.

PatienceOfEngels · 10/03/2026 07:13

I am so jealous reading everyone's plans! We don't live in the UK and I try to go to the theatre when we're over. In the last year I've seen The Lion King (rewatch for me but 1st time for the kids), Back to the Future musical, My Neighbour Totoro, Stranger Things The First Shadow, Witness for the Prosecution and Born with Teeth (Ncuti Gatwa) in London. Over here have seen a tonne of non-English or non-verbal stuff either with the kids or friends, and online through NTatHome and DigitalTheatre+.

But currently our UK trips are on hold while we wait for our British passports (caught up in dual national requirements) so will probably miss the RSC doing Hamlet next month. Had been hoping to take kids to Hercules (may rebook for the summer) and have tickets for Mean Girls on tour.

To tide me over am going to make the most of my NTatHome subscription. Looking forward to Inter Alia and Ballet Shoes and waiting for The Importance of Being Earnest.

The NT are doing a free YouTube premiere of The Importance of Being Earnest. If anyone else is interested. I’m looking forward to it. It premieres on the 12th of March at 7pm.

Watching it theatre at home certainly isn’t as the same as attending the real deal, but it’s better than nothing!

Our Town which is on in Kingston,

Want to take DC to lion king too

ImImmortalNowBabyDoll · 10/03/2026 11:32

We go to the local amateur theatre (where we also act) regularly- the next one will be Underdog: The Other Other Bronte because my husband is in the ensemble.

We're also going to see the touring production of Matilda soon.

We really enjoyed it, special effects were great, one DC didn’t enjoy it as it was too much sensory stimulation and they became very overwhelmed.

Is this Ncuti?

I saw it with Ollie Alexander & Stephen Fry. It was amazing - and not quite like any other version of TIOBE I'd seen before!

Thanks for the pointer.

Love this thread! And fun to see who lives near me as I recognise the timings ;-)

I'm in Scotland so I wait for things to come up here. My daughter is a dancer and loves a musical so we go to as much as we can.

Local theatre company doing Footloose next month, Red Shoes in April, Starstruck (Scottish ballet) in May, Ballet Black in June, Six in September, Sylvia (suffragette musical! Could not be more excited) and Legally Blonde in October. Looking at Billy Elliot and a few more things... and must mention Mythos ragnarok (a wrestling viking show) which is the only show my son has ever liked and comes to Edinburgh Fringe each year. Going twice again this year for his 5th and 6th times lol.

Matthew Bourne never disappoints so that should be fun!

We have seen "Punch". "The Play That Goes Wrong", "Road", "An Inspector Calls and "Animal Farm" in the last few months. We are going to see "Hamlet" next week.
I love going to the theatre.

Where did you see an inspector calls please? My friend was looking to take her kids as it’s studied at GCSE but couldn’t find it on this year?

Were those of you who were trying to get Leslie Hamilton tickets today successful?

I was.

I cannot wait!
