I have Phantom of the Opera and Pride: The Musical booked, which are within the next few weeks.

I’ll also buy tickets for Operation Mincemeat and Owain and Henry soon, which are later on in the year.

What about you?

We saw Ballet Shoes a couple of weeks ago (it was wonderful) and have Six and Operation Mincemeat booked. Plus a GCSE focussed production of Macbeth which may be more if a trial than a pleasure ! Really wanted to see The Greatest Showman but it sold out almost immediately.

Um... are there any Owain & Henry seats left? It was looking pretty full when I booked a few weeks back, just after I saw Our Town in Mold.

I try to go to the theatre a lot, but I don't go nearly as much as I used to pre covid, prices have risen a lot and there is far less on that appeals to me these days, I find. I still have quite a few things booked:

Saw Ballet Shoes at the NT twice in January
Our Town @ Theatr Clwyd last month
Ladies Football Club and Living next week, both in Sheffield
Arturo Ui at the RSC in April
May is busy -
Small Island in Nottingham
By a Lady in Buxton
Malory Towers in Coventry
Spitfire Girls in Scarborough
Then in June, Malory Towers again in Manchester
Cherry Orchard at the RSC in July
Pride and Prejudice (*sort of) in October in Buxton
Owain v Henry in Cardiff in November

My absolute favourite thing I've seen in recent years is the Pride and Prejudice sort of, which i adore. I've seen i think 3 casts now. I first saw it before covid, then again during when it was in London, then multiple times in several places when it's toured since.

JustMeHello · 07/03/2026 16:18

Ooh sorry, just saw you got the O.H tickets, well done!

Fallulah · 07/03/2026 16:21

Paddington - the tickets are far too expensive at the moment,

Ballet Shoes was just fabulous.

BFG - am hoping they bring it out either on tour or to London like they did with Matilda.

JustMeHello · 07/03/2026 16:24

Ballet Shoes was so good. I really loved it. I saw it last year too, and think I preferred the second cast. I don't go to London often, and managed to get bargain £30 front row seats that were cheaper because of them being a bit narrower and having low backs, but they were fine, and at least a third of the cost of normal seats.

DrLevy · 07/03/2026 16:24

HAMILTON - Leslie of course. I have seen it several times already but absolutely must go again this summer!

Nothing else on my radar yet

Yes, I just booked mine - great seats too. They added extra show dates due to its popularity.

Went to see Harold Fry last Saturday, it was amazing! I’ve read the book, seen the film, have the CD so I was expecting alot and I wasn't disappointed.
A very emotional roller coaster, laughing, crying, our DD (15) came with me and she loved every minute, her favourite was Noah Mullins, he has an amazing voice!
As we left we saw Passenger, he was very kind and said we could have a selfie, a fantastic day for us.

ambivalentisland · 07/03/2026 16:44

We saw Matilda last week which was just incredible, and have got tickets for Legally Blonde in April & Six in October. Me and DD10 have definitely got the bug!

I have just come out of Fawlty Towers in Southampton. It was great and the actors playing basil, Sybil and manuel were fantastic. Basil in particular. He had the physical comedic abilities of John Cleese down to a t. I want to see Annie and Operation Mincemeat also. I don’t go to the theatre very often but feel like I have to go more often.

katiemarnie · 07/03/2026 16:54

Going to see Romeo and Juliet with Sadie Sink in June and
To Kill a Mockingbird in August.
Saw Cabaret about two years ago - completely brilliant.

REP22 · 07/03/2026 16:57

Just booked to see Shadowlands with Hugh Bonneville and Jeff Rawle in April. Can't wait. Saw a song from Paddington on The One Show last night (the 500 Words piece) - it was very impressive.

Belfastgirl0 · 07/03/2026 16:58

Saw hadestown in January, also the Nutcracker.
Couple of local am dram group productions last month and Miss Saigon next month.
I'm contemplating Priscilla QOTD in May

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 07/03/2026 16:58

Jesus Christ Superstar, Midsummer Night’s Dream and War Horse 🐴,
on consecutive days in July..Can’t wait.

Belfastgirl0 · 07/03/2026 16:59

Oh! And Christmas carol goes wrong in January, too...absolutely fantastic 👏

Booked tickets for Jesus Christ Superstar with Sam Ryder in July. Also seeing my favourite writer, David Sedaris reading at Royal Festival Hall the following day.

David Sedaris is very good live, but be aware that his material is very much "darker " than the stuff that is aired on Radio 4!

Lorrymum · 07/03/2026 17:07

Thanks, I've read all his books.

Hi, remember to look at MAST/the Mayflower Studios (opposite The Guildhall Square). A lot smaller/intimate and cheaper than The Mayflower. All on the same website. X

I'm going to see Tom Chambers in Morse - House of Ghosts. It is touring. I'm seeing it at The Lowry in Salford.

I've booked to see it in Glasgow

PoppyPopPop · 07/03/2026 17:13

Literally just booked Billy Elliot. Not for another year but excited already.

craigth162 · 07/03/2026 17:16

Saw priscilla queen of desert few days ago. Booked for morse, back to the future, jersey boys so far. Limited to Glasgow and Edinburgh as youngest son can't be left with anyone for long. Wanting to book legally blonde and miss saigon (again).

Toddlerteaplease · 07/03/2026 17:18

I want to see Shadowlands as I love the fil. And Hugh Bonneville. But it’s expensive and saw a clip of it and it doesn’t look that good. So not sure now.

badgersbadgerseverywhere · 07/03/2026 17:28

We’ve got The Mousetrap in September and Back To The Future in March next year, both in Birmingham.

Timeforatincture · 07/03/2026 17:28

Went to American Psycho at the Almeida last weekend. Superb. Think it is sold out though. Got tickets for touring productions of Hamlet and Operation Mincemeat later this spring.
