To think the Green Party and esp its Deputy Leader is a real worry for women

CraftyTaupeBee · 06/03/2026 18:37

Over the last few months I have watched with incredulity the rise of the Green Party in the polls and wondered if I am alone in this. Mothin Ali their Deputy publicly celebrated Oct 7th (which he then apologised for) and has been seen this week at an event mourning the death of the Ayatollah. I am not anti any religion but his wife is fully covered in a niqab and I feel despite what others say to have a woman's face fully covered is a tool of oppression and not something I would want in a leader as a value set. I realise others may not feel this way and it is not meant to be offensive but the facts are there. And recently a female spin doctor for the Greens alleged that rape had not taken place on Oct 7th. To me the Green Party is reminiscent of what happened in 1979 and something that ultimately affected women's rights drastically (as well as any other rights of the gay community and others). The soft left (much like the Greens) allowed the strict islamic vote to take hold and look where they ended up. This really worries me for the country. Am I the only one? And why does the Green Party seem to be so anti west and anti white. I realise Zack Polanksi is gay and jewish and they are strange bedfellows but it feels like a trojan horse mindset and not something I want for my western liberal feminist girls. In fact it feels anti feminist?

If you put even 1 minute of effort into researching the first line of this you’d know this isn’t the story at all. By all means dislike Zach Polanski if you wish, but at least base it on facts.

He’s also Jewish

Yes hes a self hating jew, you should watch the interview of him when hes asked about zionism and his mother and sister its a real eye opener.
The greens have a real problem with women having rights unless they are transwomen ie men.
He wants fully open borders with no checks or safeguards.

In Iran the radical left helped bring in the ayatollahs and the first thing they did was kill all of the radical left. The greens really should learn the lessons of the past before they find themselves on the wrong side of history

fartoomuchtoblerone · 07/03/2026 11:20

They’re just another populist party now who will say whatever they think will get them votes, rather than having clear coherent policy grounded in a value system that they can articulate.

I’m a former Green Party member. I can’t see myself supporting them again unless there is a major shift in direction in the future.

Our local Green Party people are good sorts who care about green issues.

But the national party is something else. It’s gone both trans activist and (oddly) Islamist in its attitude.

Given the bedfellows, i don’t think it has any female interests at heart.

I can understand why Labour are shedding votes to Greens (and right) but I agree with you and pp they are regressive wrt women.

Igmum · 07/03/2026 12:19

I admire some of their social justice and redistributive policies but their stance on women’s rights and gay rights are appalling. Their latest MP confirmed that she would not follow the law on women’s rights or gay rights. My mind boggles at people (many of whom are women, gay or lesbian) wishing to deprive their fellow citizens in this way. And good for the women Green Party members suing them, but they have been sued for their unreasonable behaviour before, and lost, and still do it.

MissAustenMadeAQuilt · 07/03/2026 12:35

Never ever vote for anyone who says a man can be an actual woman and should be treated as such.

It's a simple maxim and if most women followed it, it would be a Very Good Thing Indeed.

Clearly some won't agree but they will be of no consideration, as there aren't enough of them to make a difference to the vote.

Please don't tell a Jewish woman that 'Zionism and Judaism are not the same thing' Hope that helps you.

If you are Jewish like me, then why on Earth would you deploy the “self-loathing Jew” antisemitic trope up thread against any Jewish person? I have just reported it.

Skinnysaluki · 11/03/2026 07:07

The Greens are the only party offering any hope of any kind that we could have social progress, less inequality and climate action.

There are also loads of inspiring women in the Greens. For a start Ellie Chown, Carla Denyer, Sian Berry, Caroline Lucas- I wish we got to hear and see more of them but weirdly, despite the Greens’ enormous surge in support, they seem to be given a fraction of the airtime that members of Reform are.

I'm so much more worried about Reform wanting to reduce the abortion time limit and "reset the sexual culture". They are a far bigger threat to women and our rights.

Hear hear.

ShesRunningOutTheDoor · 11/03/2026 07:14

I think if you are a woman and are not worried, especially knowing how women in Muslim countries are treated then you are a sandwich short of a picnic. But don’t worry, other women will still stand up for you as that’s what we do

Greens are offering everything but social progress and equality. I find the prospect of them getting anywhere near government utterly terrifying.

Their problem is that they have absolutely no idea how to turn that hope into an economical reality.

"We'll take all the money we need off the rich and borrow the rest" really doesn't hack it as an economic policy.

Many, many women think we have far more to focus on, worry about and vote for than anti trans rhetoric.Any party that thinks this is a priority above all the other horrific issues we are contending with needs to be avoided.

Trans issues are so not on the radar of the liberal women in my house( young and old).

Me thinks this thread is all about a few Tory and Reform voters worried about losing votes to Greens.

Indeed. Voting for people who are against trans rights pretty much means voting for a racist atm.

We're not a Muslim country though , so why does it matter to the vote here in particular if one politician is a conservative regarding their religion? And the Muslims I know both female and male dress respectfully rather than fully covering up and are pro women's rights. Their mosques encourages them to celebrate and respect women in the Koran. There are also Muslims from African countries originally that all seem to wear western style clothing.

Green Party leader who charged women money and pretended to make their chests bigger.

Also openly says that women have penises.

These people are basically rabid Marxists and anti semites using Muslims and Gaza to pretend they care.

Anyone who votes for them is either intellectually challenged or basically dodgy too.

Not sure Marxists believe men can be women. The Communist party ( surely left and Marxist) definitely don't.

Sian berry is an absolute waste of space as an mp who actively ignores 50%of her constituency ie the women.
She is actively campaigning to remove tge single sex exemptions from the equality act and wants men in women's sports, hospitals, changing rooms, toilets, rape crisis centres, prisons and everywhere that women are supposed to be safe from All men including those with a special identity.
If you don't believe that men should be allowed to feed babies chemically induced chest secretions then the greens dont want you voting for them. Take them at their words dont vote for mens wants over womens needs

ShesRunningOutTheDoor · 11/03/2026 07:38

@tripleginandtonic
because being a strong conservative of any religion goes against our western values of freedom of living and freedom of speech. I don’t want ANY strongly religious leader in charge of any part of our country. It always involves oppression of women. Whether ardent Christian or Muslim it’s always us that suffers. I do not want to regress our society by voting these anti science backward people into positions of power. Muslim faith esp oppresses women. My heart bleeds for the girls and women of Iran and Afghanistan. It’s no life at all. It’s a life of sadness and imprisonment created by god fearing male power hungry bastards.

So you want all MPs to be atheists?

ShesRunningOutTheDoor · 11/03/2026 07:42

No being a bit religious is fine. Just not a zealot. Having a strong grasp of science and fact is a must

Who decides what is too religious?

I mean supposing you are a Christian who believes that women should access safe abortion but you also believe a virgin got pregnant. How "sciencey" is that person?

ShesRunningOutTheDoor · 11/03/2026 07:48

@HappyClapper100 i don’t know. For me, I’m not one iota religious. So I’m the wrong person to ask.
leaders need to be reasonable, consider facts, weigh up evidence, proceed in the best way based on actual evidence

ChaToilLeam · 11/03/2026 07:49

We need a decent, strong and principled Green Party more than ever.

This lot ain't it. What a shambles politics is right now.

The BBC has reported that these are inaccurate claims that have resulted in death threats against Mothin Ali.

Mothin Ali their Deputy publicly celebrated Oct 7th (which he then apologised for) and has been seen this week at an event mourning the death of the Ayatollah.

The BBC whose head of Verify faked their CV?

And which bit is 'inaccurate' and how is it 'inaccurate'?
