To think the Green Party and esp its Deputy Leader is a real worry for women

CraftyTaupeBee · 06/03/2026 18:37

Over the last few months I have watched with incredulity the rise of the Green Party in the polls and wondered if I am alone in this. Mothin Ali their Deputy publicly celebrated Oct 7th (which he then apologised for) and has been seen this week at an event mourning the death of the Ayatollah. I am not anti any religion but his wife is fully covered in a niqab and I feel despite what others say to have a woman's face fully covered is a tool of oppression and not something I would want in a leader as a value set. I realise others may not feel this way and it is not meant to be offensive but the facts are there. And recently a female spin doctor for the Greens alleged that rape had not taken place on Oct 7th. To me the Green Party is reminiscent of what happened in 1979 and something that ultimately affected women's rights drastically (as well as any other rights of the gay community and others). The soft left (much like the Greens) allowed the strict islamic vote to take hold and look where they ended up. This really worries me for the country. Am I the only one? And why does the Green Party seem to be so anti west and anti white. I realise Zack Polanksi is gay and jewish and they are strange bedfellows but it feels like a trojan horse mindset and not something I want for my western liberal feminist girls. In fact it feels anti feminist?

Green Party leader who charged women money and pretended to make their chests bigger.

Also openly says that women have penises.

These people are basically rabid Marxists and anti semites using Muslims and Gaza to pretend they care.

Anyone who votes for them is either intellectually challenged or basically dodgy too.

How is a party with a Jewish leader anti semitic?

LauraNorda · 11/03/2026 07:58

Plenty of mostly young people are quite happy to go into bat for intolerant, authorotarian, religious theocracies that hate women and western society.

You reap what you sow.

loislovesstewie · 11/03/2026 07:58

I'm not voting for a party that thinks a woman can have a penis, or wants open borders, or to decriminilise drugs, ( including GBH), or where leaders attend vigils mourning the Ayatollah, I'm sure there are more bonkers policies, statements, actions, but that's enough for me.

The Greens are the only party offering any hope of any kind that we could have social progress, less inequality and climate action.

There are also loads of inspiring women in the Greens. For a start Ellie Chown, Carla Denyer, Sian Berry, Caroline Lucas- I wish we got to hear and see more of them but weirdly, despite the Greens’ enormous surge in support, they seem to be given a fraction of the airtime that members of Reform are.

Social progress?

In what way are the Greens offering 'social progress'? Give me some concrete policies that are 'social progress'.

How is a party with a Jewish leader anti semitic?

Thats a very simplistic view.

Criticising some of the policies of the Israeli government equals hating all Jews, apparently.

Many, many women think we have far more to focus on, worry about and vote for than anti trans rhetoric.Any party that thinks this is a priority above all the other horrific issues we are contending with needs to be avoided.

Trans issues are so not on the radar of the liberal women in my house( young and old).

Me thinks this thread is all about a few Tory and Reform voters worried about losing votes to Greens.

Do you mean women’s rights issues?

Campaigners are concerned about women’s rights not being undermined. It’s not about taking rights away from trans people. They already have the same rights as everyone else under the law. Nobody’s pushing for them to have fewer rights, but many of us see that giving them more rights than others is a threat to women.

If these issues are not on your radar, then more fool you. Luckily for you and the women in your family, other women are alive to the current threats to women’s rights, and are actively fighting to stop the rot.

Could someone please explain in what way the Green party are Marxist? What Marxist policies do they have? I read their manifesto for the last general election and didn't spot any obviously Marxist policies but maybe I missed them.

I rejoined the green party after I realised how far right Labour were leaning but I do feel uneasy about what seem to be their priorities (last time I was a member they were hot on women's rights and the environment). I suppose maybe it's also a case of what the media focus on?

No, it’s a case of what they focus on.

Which of their policies do you like?

What do you think allahu akbar means?

ShesRunningOutTheDoor · 11/03/2026 08:20

@moros it worryingly means ‘God is greater’. This is why it’s a sinister phrase. We should not be governed by God fearing lunatics

Pacificsunshine · 11/03/2026 08:24

I won’t vote for my own oppression. I won’t vote Green.

Do your knickers get in the same kind of wad when you hear someone say "thank god for that!"?

Do your knickers get in the same kind of wad when you hear someone say "thank god for that!"?

It's troubling that you can't see the difference.

AloeTom · 11/03/2026 08:27

All the women( and men) in my family young and old will be voting green as we actually want a planet to live on.

ShesRunningOutTheDoor · 11/03/2026 08:27

That’s quite a different scenario. Also my knickers don’t get in a twist about anything. My rational thoughts highlight that someone shouting ‘God is greater’ could be someone not to trust with big decisions

AloeTom · 11/03/2026 08:28

So we’re supposed to be getting heightened every time we hear similar rhetoric from Christians are we?

Hilarious you think the Green Party is still about the environment.

I'm so much more worried about Reform wanting to reduce the abortion time limit and "reset the sexual culture". They are a far bigger threat to women and our rights.

This.

Reform as I see it threaten the rights and very existence of women and will do untold harm especially with any barriers to abortion.

The greens, well, I don’t agree fully with them on some issues but I feel if they think men can become women and are supportive of that they’ll be more likely to increase women’s rights as it’s what they believe anyone identifying as a woman has a right to.

I'd rather people didn't bring their beliefs about any supernatural being into everyday life. Having worked with a couple of happy clappies it made life harder.

If you put even 1 minute of effort into researching the first line of this you’d know this isn’t the story at all. By all means dislike Zach Polanski if you wish, but at least base it on facts.

He’s also Jewish

This is laughable. So presumably you think Reform are pro anti racism. After all they have POC in the party.

It's troubling that you can't see the difference.

They're both exclamations used by people in times of excitement, fear and gratitude.

It's indicative of what kind of social media someone is consuming if they see allahu akbar as automatically sinister.
