The Green Party in Denton whored themselves out to secure a vote...

Luckymum20 · 01/03/2026 18:15

The Green Party. A party for women. A party for equality. A party for the rights for gay and trans people.... They ran their campaign on the Gaza stance. To secure the vote of people who go against the majority of their principles.

I am disgusted that British Politics, which is already in the gutter, a party who should champion ethics and morals, has sunk this low.

Surly I cannot be the only one who thinks this way?

The Green Party claim to be against animal cruelty but then turn a blind eye to the unnecessary suffering of millions of animals tho are killed with non stun slaughter.

They are now in a position where they can’t criticise Halal at all because they have made promises to gain the Muslim vote. Their deputy leader is quite a hardline Islamist, approving of the October 7th attacks in Israel and his wife wears full face coverings.

Being ‘pro Palestine’ or ‘pro Gaza’ isn’t just a protest against the killing of Palestinians, people supporting that are lending their vote to wider Islamic rule and the eradication of Jews. None of this is going to end well for us.

Hopefully the infighting will start soon enough, maybe at their next conference. Then the environmentalists will realise they are lambs lying down with the lion.

It's completely absurd that their animal welfare policies don't include an end to non-stun slaughter.

Yes, classic entryist tactics. Same as when Militant infiltrated Labour. At least in that case they were eventually expelled.

Will the Greens do that when it all goes south? Doubt it. They've really sold out and it won't end well.

Parsley4321 · 02/03/2026 08:41

In this case the title thst the greens have shored themselves out stands correct they have and no it won’t end well the two faiths are diametrically opposed

Stompythedinosaur · 02/03/2026 08:47

Would anyone be saying "whored themselves out" in relation to a male candidate winning an election? It's disgusting misogyny.

JohnBullshit · 02/03/2026 09:02

@Valeriekat As far as I can make out, there's no evidence that it happened at all, given that paid officials and police saw no cases of it, and would have intervened if they had.

SundayBells · 02/03/2026 10:22

Valeriekat · 02/03/2026 06:35

And how prominent was that in their Election literature?

I honestly cannot recall, but it is there on their website and is very clear.

You place great faith in things working as they should but I’m not sure that’s always the case. I am always amazed at how relaxed the rules around voting are and how open to abuse. There has long been serious worries over abuse of postal votes which are open to all and very easy to abuse.

If, for example, the council leader (and much of the council) were Muslims that are supportive of these practices and related (thanks for the extensive cousin marriage/clan system) to others involved, including the police officers, do you think the Returning Officer (employed by the council) would dare stick his neck out and raise an issue even if he wanted to?

This ‘family voting’ is a bit of a misnomer, people from within say that it is unrelated men standing with entire family groups ti ensure they make the correct vote. This is coercion and illegal but if the people supporting it and benefiting from it are in charge, the voters are not protected.

There was such a serious issue with this that the independent observers raised it on the night (which is very rare apparently). They reported it but the police and RO say there were no reports. Don’t you think this sounds a little suspect?

if you look up ‘RedwallandtheRabble’ it explains more about the workings from an insiders pov.

Yes, I absolutely would have used the same phrase - meaning - debase oneself by doing something for unworthy motives.

Oh OP, the Green party is so far from being 'a party for women'. There's a flavour of their misogyny here:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5456759-sexismother-issues-in-the-green-party-england-wales-discussion-thread-2

They're using the brand name of the Greens but they're really something completely different. And incoherant: Gaza, open borders, trans rights and legalising hard drugs. I'm not surprised genuine Greens are abandoning the ship.

Yes, it's really concerning. Postal voting definitely should be stopped except for exceptional circumstances. Family or clan-based voting should be clamped down on too.

If we want to be a cohesive society we need to put in place the guardrails to enable it, not just pretend this stuff isn't happening.

Exactly. It’s so worrying that in a growing number of spheres, the government and those in authority are content to ignore or subvert the law. This isn’t conducive to a safe and peaceful democratic country.

Yes, and it’s so disappointing because we really really need a party focused on the environment and the Greens are occupying that space while doing nothing meaningful.

They don’t seem remotely interested in holding the government to account and raising awareness of environmental issues - they are just persecuting members that support women’s rights and ushering in more power for pro Islamic groups.

I know it's just the right-wing tactic of repeating a stupid idea again and again ad infinitum until the premise becomes accepted in the discourse, but obsessing over the (completely unproven with data) idea that the reasons Muslims vote are mutually exclusive with the reasons progressives vote just doesn't stand up to any logical thinking.

Starting with the fact that "Muslims" and "progressives" are themselves not mutually exclusive categories! Secular and progressive Muslims exist (and are the norm in second/third-gen immigrant families) just as secular and progressive Christians and Jews exist.

Then the idea that a vote is somehow invalid or a conspiracy or, er, "whoring themselves out", if the voter doesn't sign up to 100% of that party's manifesto? Batshit. Most political parties have to be! Voters pick the one that best represents their interests, they don't wait for a unicorn party that replicates all their beliefs exactly to come along.

And of course all of this discourse is predicated on the idea that Muslims want to take over the UK. Because all Muslims are the same and want to turn us into Iran.

But that isn't Islamophobic, oh no! 🙄

@outofofficeagain it would be cheating though wouldn’t it if there was coercion in voting going into polling booths together ?

This load of bollocks again? Do you really think that Muslim women were dying to vote for Reform but were forced to vote Green by their husbands?

The Green candidate came across as friendly and approachable and like a normal human being.

The sheer unpleasantness of the Reform candidate would also have been a spur for the 'anyone except Reform' voters.

CrackersAndCaviar · 02/03/2026 13:17

Am I the only one who thinks that irrespective of your race or religion the atrocities carried out in Gaza were just not acceptable. Surely, you don't have to be Muslim to want the suffering inflicted on children to stop, right?

MrThorpeHazell · 02/03/2026 13:19

Surly I cannot be the only one who thinks this way?

Yes you are. By a country mile.

ThereIsThunderInOurHearts · 02/03/2026 13:37

Of course Gaza is an issue. At least 20,000 children killed. An official death toll of 70,000 based on the bodies they can find but more likely to be closer to 600,000 based on missing presumed dead. Children shot at for target practice. Doctors raped to death (Dr Adnan al Bursh), other doctors imprisoned simply for doing their job, about 200 journalists targeted and killed, simply for doing their job, 400 footballers killed...it's an issue for anybody with an ounce of humanity.

It's an issue for British people because our government sends spy planes on a daily basis, welcomes ministers accused of committing genocide, supplies parts for F-35s fighter planes that are active in the genocide...not to mention our country drew up the Balfour Declaration in 1912 to hand over Palestine, a country that didn't belong to us, to create a Jewish State in which the Palestinians had lesser rights - essentially an apartheid state.

Well exactly. Not a Muslim but the moral cowardice exhibited by Labour regarding the genocide in Gaza is certainly a factor - one of many - that means I would not vote for them.

Count me in too. Also not Muslim. I don't personally know anyone who thinks genocide is justifiable. Anyone who does, can you explain yourself?

@SundayBells nothing re Halal slaughter ?
@MyThreeWords the Islamic regime throw gays from cranes that’s how they treat them

When was the last time a Muslim chucked a gay off a crane in Manchester?

88% of uk halal meat is stunned before slaughter. Zack polanski is Jewish and almost 100% of kosher meat is not stunned before slaughter.

Welcome to our wonderful world full of nuance and contradictions where nothing fits in neat little boxes!
