The Green Party. A party for women. A party for equality. A party for the rights for gay and trans people.... They ran their campaign on the Gaza stance. To secure the vote of people who go against the majority of their principles.

I am disgusted that British Politics, which is already in the gutter, a party who should champion ethics and morals, has sunk this low.

The Greens have been vocal on Gaza for years. It is an important issue to many Muslims in Gorton I'm sure but it's not like the Greens changed their stance to appeal. And Muslims are still very much the minority. The Greens only won because people of all backgrounds voted for Hannah Spencer..

The sour grapes brigade on here like to pretend that Gorton and Denton is majority Muslim. In fact it's 83% white. And 66% of the vote went to Labour or Green. A sound majority rejection of Reform, hence all the whining.

It will be interesting when the analysis of the demographic of the vote comes out. Hopefully it will put all this to bed once and for all.

It may have escaped your notice but Gorton and Denton are very separate areas. You only mentioned the demographic of one area where white people are the majority.

Why did you fail to mention the make up of the other area where white people are a definite minority? It’s a very split constituency.

The point here is that even though we may not always feel comfortable with some of the social values that British political parties and candidates align with, these issues can be overlooked in pursuit of more urgent matters. For instance, protecting our brothers and sisters facing genocide in Gaza, or at the very least reducing harm against them.
