While the vote in Gorton and Denton may be described as a 'protest' vote the strength of both the Greens and Reform performance is something to worry all of us not just Labour.

I don’t live in Scotland so it’s a matter of indifference to me what parties north of the border choose to do. In any event it’s a tax on assets over £1 million, so £3.5k in your particular case.

Is that an example of the Greens' grasp of economics?

1% of £1.35 million is £13,500, not £3,500.
£3,500 is 1% of £350,000.
1% of £100 =1
1% of £1000=10
1% of £10,000=100
1% of £100,000= 1,000
1% of £1,000,000=10,000

Catch up at the back - so called "family voting" aka women being made to vote a certain way by men, is currently being discussed in Parliament as a serious problem, given that it is explicitly against the law for anyone to be "accompanied" into the voting booth. A large proportion of voting centres have seen this in this recent bye election.

PhaedraWas · 27/02/2026 22:23

must be nice having a pension pot of a million, no doubt you earnt it with no privilege at all.

I have never inherited anything. I have worked full time all my life. I'm still working.

Why would you need a one million pension pot? Are you planning to live to 120?

What a daft question.

Right on sister, me either. Kemi Badenoch is the only Party leader who openly states that men are not women, and that women are entitled to single sex spaces.

Is it not more Islamophobic to believe that most Muslims support crossing into the country next door and killing 1200 odd civilians including children, kidnapping 250 more and strangling some babies? Just curious as to where the line lies.

~Well, sure, but what does that have to do with anything?

Speaking up against genocide may be seen as a "luxury" by you, I disagree. Anyway people vote for all sorts of reasons and all sorts of things will sway them. It's not really up to me or to you to decide what things people should or shouldn't vote on.

Well what it has to do with anything is that if it is unacceptable to strangle babies then you have to accept that the latest Gaza conflict was provoked by bad people. This conflicts with the narrative of genocide. I notice that you repeat the “genocide” narrative in your reply, without responding to my points about the provocation of that conflict, or that the Gaza genocide narrative does not survive examination. That the war was started
by a terrorist organisation who break all
international rules of war and sacrifice their own civilians is well documented. So while you can call voting on the basis of Gaza “speaking up against genocide” if you like that is because we have freedom of speech, not because it is what those votes or voters are doing.

I didn’t think the day was going to get better than KS throwing away a safe Labour seat in a bye-election to attempt to safeguard his own position but how wrong I was - it’s the gift that just keeps on giving.

I've voted Green for years and would be delighted if they were successful at the next election. Obviously a Reform win would be highly problematic though. What's your issue with the Green party exactly?

Self-id, men in women only spaces & sports, a snake-oil salesman of a leader who used hypnosis to separate fools from their money with the promise of increasing their bust size, vacuous virtue signalling in place of policies and smug to boot.

Do you think that Democracy Volunteers made this up?

If so why would they choose to make false reports for a relatively minor by election rather than the major Presidential elections that they cover?

TopPocketFind · 27/02/2026 22:44

Nigel Farage has reported cases of 'family voting' to the police, who say they have received a complaint.

Lord Robert Hayward.told Bloomberg News that, while he was “seriously concerned”, he believed that the “scale is such that you cannot say that the election was stolen”.

Yes I do. If it happened why didn’t they alert the polling clerks? Why didn’t they report it to the returning officer or police? Why aren’t there photos? Why didn’t the polling clerks see it? And why is it only Farage who’s frothing about it?

I don't know about the rest but the fact that it's illegal to take photos inside a polling station explains the lack of photos.

Interesting that you think that Democracy Volunteers a long established and respected electoral monitoring body would risk their global reputation and for political neutrality and hence their ability to operate over a relatively minor by election rather than say a national Presidential election.

Democracy Volunteers say they did report their concerns to the polling station officers. What the polling station officers chose to do with that information is up to them.

Photography of others in a polling station is an offence under the secrecy requirements set out in section 66 of the Representation of the People Act. That's why they don't have photographic evidence.

Democracy Volunteers also did not go public with their concerns whilst the election was live as this would also be illegal.

I hope this clarifies your concerns.

This thread is gold.
Left of centre wins a solitary seat, meaning absolutely no difference is made to parliament, and the facists lose their minds.

Despite all the campaigning, the far right party, full of failed tories failed because Britain is not a fascist country.

Can't possibly be that though- it must be allowed those mean Muslim men forcing their wives to vote for the gay jew party instead. Hmm Wtaf.

Fascist?! Don’t make me laugh. The Left have IMPOSED a new, multicultural identity on us. No one asked for it and no one voted for it. The country I was born into no longer exists. And it was done deliberately. A speechwriter for Blair said in 1997 that the plan was “to rub the right’s nose in diversity and render their arguments out of date.” Now that is fascism.

No one is more cruel or hate-filled than the globalist Left, but because their spite is directed towards middle-class Daily Mail readers, somehow it’s OK. That doesn’t count. It’s OK to destroy their identity. It’s OK to tear down their statues, and demonise their national heroes. When a Native American has his culture and identity destroyed, it’s a crime and we call it colonialism. But when it’s done to British people, it's ‘enrichment’.

Then the Left expect me to care about Palestine! I’m too busy clinging on to what is left of my own identity to worry about Palestine.

How many billionaires do you think live in the UK? Last count was 156 and decreasing. By the time we get to the next GE there will be even fewer! So no, don't expect the coffers to be rolling with £ from billionaires!

Company tax? Cracking down on tax avoidance? We know Amazon pays hardly any UK tax, many other companies are the same. But they are happy to trade here. https://www.ethicalconsumer.org/ethicalcampaigns/tax-justice/tax-avoidance-rankings

We gave these companies 'zero' in our ratings system for their likely use of tax avoidance strategies.

EsmaCannonball · 27/02/2026 23:10

RedToothBrush · 27/02/2026 14:28

I do think the Green party is in a massive state of flux right now that isn't fully appreciated. It's an uneasy alliance between two groups which really aren't obvious bedfellows. At some point that leads to crisis as we've seen in other parties both here and abroad. If you don't understand this you are missing a massive potential problem on the horizon.

For all its faults (of which there are an extraordinary amount) Reform do not have the same level of this. They have competing ego issues instead to contend with as well as a variety of people who are scandals waiting to happen. But for the most part I don't see a full on civil war in the same way. I see massive bickering and infighting between individuals instead. But on policy? Not so much to the same extent where it looks like an impossible square to circle.

I think any civil war in the Greens will be swift and brutal. Once the vegan/LGBTQ+/fossil-fuels-are-bad faction has served their purpose, the Islamic supremacist faction will Iran '79 them.

If only Zack Polanski had won a few auditions; he might not have had to find fame at the expense of doing a pact with misogynistic, homophobic, animal-abusing, oil-loving, racist jihadists.

'MG100. The Green Party wants to see a world without borders, until this happens the Green Party will implement a fair and humane system of managed immigration where people can move if they wish to do so.'

This states a world without borders is their ideology. But their actual practical policy is managed immigration.

Like Farages principle that he believes we are going to be a minority and his policies are ‘reopening a conversation’ on abortion rights and ‘take back control’ of immigration.

Yeah ideology not important at all. Doesn’t matter at all and isn’t an insight into who someone is and how far they might go
