While the vote in Gorton and Denton may be described as a 'protest' vote the strength of both the Greens and Reform performance is something to worry all of us not just Labour.

Yes as real as you.

Look at the SM feeds and comments. Labour get destroyed on there. Greens are liked, and Kemi.

Which SM feeds?

This seems a very biased view. People see what they want to see.

The Scottish Greens are way to the left of the SNP. Did you miss the bit about the wealth tax on assets over £1 million? And they include pension pots in that.

They aren't in power. The law hasn't been passed yet.

Thanks for explaining 😊

Sorry for my attitude, it's been a frustrating thread!

It’s a million miles from Farage. Wealth tax, more housing, improved public services, cohesive communities. It couldn’t be more different.

I just listened to it again. It’s not a bad speech but yes I do see the underlying sentiment is the same. Country’s shit. Greens are blaming billionaires. Reform blaming immigrants. Obviously the major difference is one is trying to unite and the other divide. So greens win on that point. But yes both are appealing to populist sentiments here and neither mention their more extreme policies.

Underthinker · 27/02/2026 15:52

The Green's complete belief in gender ideology is well known. They even expel women for having gender critical views.

Is that a key piece in your political values?

NeedAnyHelpWithThatPaperBag · 27/02/2026 19:02

Since globalisation and the rise of the trans national corporations, a country's government has very little real power left to actually change things.

It’s just their posts on IG. It’s not curated by me, it’s what they put up. Have a look at a Starmer one and a Greens and Kemi one.

Your reaction seems odd. It’s not the end of the world that Starmer is disliked. Surely you know already given his personal rating.

MaturingCheeseball · 27/02/2026 08:36

I must admit I am depressed. Have people not looked at the Greens’ policies?

And the win yesterday - it was on Gaza. I can’t imagine any Muslim voter being in favour of any Green policy except one.

It’s all bizarre.

You obviously don’t meet many Muslims!

scottishgirl69 · 27/02/2026 19:08

I don't think the Muslim vote voted Green solely because of Gaza. There have been proposed changes to immigration laws. It could be for any number of reasons

Skinnysaluki · 27/02/2026 19:10

Naunet · 27/02/2026 16:31

The Greens are deeply, deeply misogynistic.

That’ll be why they’ve just delivered another female MP and why such large numbers of young women say they’ll vote for them. Because of their misogyny…..

BIossomtoes · 27/02/2026 19:10

LoftyPlumLion · 27/02/2026 19:02

It’s a single issue voting determinant for some (fortunately a tiny minority) women.

You’re wasting your time there. She has no idea what any of their policies are if she thinks the Green Party and Reform are essentially the same and doesn’t think the former are on the left of the political spectrum.

Maybe it was on…
the NHS
Housing
care homes
Jobs
taxation
other social policy
the cut of Zack Polanski’s suit
or any one of the other policies that any voter votes for.

you make it sound as though Muslim voters are one homogenous block of people rather than a diverse bunch of various people.

You make it sound as though all a Muslim could possibly care about is Palestine or immigration.

you do know that that is racist, don’t you?

Lots of people on this thread have no idea what their actual policies are, it's very frustrating. It's very easy information to find

I think no borders are their biggest insane one. I know they say now is not the time but it’s their end goal. Still I just cannot take anyone seriously who thinks that’s feasible. If we don’t have borders and citizenship then we don’t have democracy.

Not sure I like the idea of wealth tax tbh. For truly wealthy people who this would apply to in my mind - well that’s just a number or an asset and that’s locked away. So why not just print more anyway. You don’t actually have to take it away from them because they have so much they would never actually use that anyway. We don’t because printing money causes problems. So I don’t know how to square this circle and when I think it through it’s not clear to me. I also don’t think they are talking about billionaires - because they can’t get their money anyway so who are they talking about.

Their trans polices also don’t agree with. I am a woman not a gender. Protections, recognition, words to describe and acknowledgement of my sex class is important to me.

I think they are the headline ones to me. I do also feel uncomfortable about the Gaza stuff and also about the cosying up to Islam and how does that tally with LGBT rights. Theirs inconsistent value set there - unless the value aim is just ‘power’.

Actually no. I was responding to posts on here who said it was about Palestine.

I don't need to defend myself to someone on here who has chosen to paint me as racist when I'm absolutely nothing of the sort - hope that clarifies

What a miserable fucking thread

Open borders is an ideological dream, it is not an actual policy.

And I'm confused, you think we SHOULDN'T tax wealth because....rich people AREN'T using it? So you don't think that money should be used to help people?

We don’t need ideological dreams, we need reality. Realistic actionable ideas.

No I am saying super rich people aren’t ever going to use that money. Say for example Elon with his 100 billion or whatever it is now. He’s never going to use 90 billion of that. That’s pretty easy to say as it’s just impossible. So rather than take 90 billion from him. You could just print 90 billion. It doesnt actually make any difference. But people would say we can’t do that - not sure why - inflation I assume? But if that’s the case redistributing wealth wouldn’t work either.

Does that make sense?

I apologise if I misread your post but it sounded very much as though you were saying that if Muslims hadn’t voted on Gaza they had probably voted on immigration. Which would definitely be a very weird (and racist) assessment of the priorities of Muslim voters. As well as the separation of ‘muslim
voters’ from ‘voters’

You choose to ignore the Scottish Greens policy - Do you think it's "entirely reasonable" they should help themselves to roughly £13,500 per annum out of my pension pot until it drops below £1 million?

Why would you need a one million pension pot? Are you planning to live to 120?

LoftyPlumLion · 27/02/2026 19:44

must be nice having a pension pot of a million, no doubt you earnt it with no privilege at all.

Wordsmithery · 27/02/2026 08:36

I've voted Green for years and would be delighted if they were successful at the next election. Obviously a Reform win would be highly problematic though. What's your issue with the Green party exactly?

Completely open borders, leave NATO (gift to Putin!) abolish private landlords for starters.
