To wonder why right wingers such sore losers?

Whether it’s Trump crowing about elections being stolen (although not those he actually won) and Farage moaning about “sectarian voting and cheating” in Denton and Gorton, why can’t they just take a defeat on the chin? You win some, you lose some. Congratulate the winner, reflect, and then move on to the next one.

They are learning to deflect rather than reflect

Locutus2000 · 27/02/2026 07:36

You are dealing with people who still think Brexit was just a fab idea.

PlattyCat · 27/02/2026 07:37

Yes because the lefties just accepted Brexit with good grace and moved on swiftly.

There is very sore losers on both sides

TellMeWhatToWear · 27/02/2026 07:37

I don’t think it’s right wingers so much as it is populists. They have to stir up people to feel like something was stolen from them, create more feelings of division in society.

CatBusStop · 27/02/2026 07:38

Bots don’t vote

Itstimeforachangeagain · 27/02/2026 07:38

Totally agree with you OP.
And how they crow when they win!

Btw I am beyond delighted to wake up to the news this morning , which is a very very rare thing for me!

ClovisWrites · 27/02/2026 07:38

Trump is obviously a crass and bizarre individual, but in America this century, there have been riots and violence when the left-wing party has lost, not when the right-wing party has lost.

i think the Gorton and Denton concerns were raised by the independent election observers.

VanityUnit66 · 27/02/2026 07:39

Nigel Farage is modelling himself on Trump.

ExtraOnions · 27/02/2026 07:39

I’m a Labour voter, happy to congratulate the Green Party, I like a lot of thier policies, and a local candidate is a good thing.

it’s quite the mental gymnastics to suggest that Muslims, voting for a woman, in a party lead by a gay Jewish man, is evidence of radical Islam.

The reality is that multicultural and multi-faith Britain practises tolerance and embraces genuine change for the working class. This is a massive finger up to the elites and the establishment of which Reform are firmly a part.

Difference being with a by election you don't get to have a go at having an MP/ being in charge with a chance to try again in 5 years, where Brexit took away some of mine and my children's freedoms forever. No I didn't move swiftly on. Also plenty of right-wingers (not the thick ones) didn't think Brexit was a good idea.

Bringemout · 27/02/2026 07:42

Even sky are reporting on family voting, apparently one person was allowed into a polling booth twice, all this is very illegal. It needs to be investigated because we need a system people can be confident in. I wouldn’t vote reform but this is not acceptable. The issue here is separate from who won, it points to our system being easy to abuse, that should concern everyone.

What were the Jan 6 Capitol riots then?

EverythingGolden · 27/02/2026 07:42

Well Trump is a narcissistic mentalist who has spent his whole life telling grandiose lies to himself and anyone else about how he wins everything. But clearly there are people who go along with the alternative view of reality. Not sure Farage actually believes his own lies but he is mini Trump, or at least has been. That may change if Trump continues to crash out.

Brexit wasn't and isn't a left/right issue. But you know that and are just trying to deflect.

As another lifelong Labour voter I agree with every word of that. Reform crow in victory and flounce in defeat.

Brexit was never left v right. There were enthusiastic brexiteers and adamant remainers on both sides.

Absolutely. Lefties aren't much better with their "my way or the highway" attitude.

Labour are also throwing a strop, do it’s not just right wingers.

Agreed, if it happened it’s not acceptable. But how do they know the people who are alleged to have done this voted Green?

“Clearly disappointing” is throwing a strop? It’s not using words like cheating, is it?

Exactly. Unless pp means anything left of far right. So that half the Conservative cabinet at the time would be considered ‘lefties’ too.

EverythingGolden · 27/02/2026 07:51

I’ve never heard of anyone say the Brexit vote was rigged or cheated in any way. I’ve heard people say wrong information was given such as the infamous bus side but there would appear to be evidence for that.

Sparklespecs · 27/02/2026 07:49

I think it doesn’t matter, they are questioning the integrity of the process, that should raise concerns. If there are questions over an election it needs to be rerun, if there are accusations that women are not being allowed to vote independently then I find that deeply troubling. Same Coates from sky reported that when he tried to ask women who they voted for at least one woman said “my husband deals with all that”. This is not ok.
