Made to feel uncomfortable

Scottishlassie10 · 20/02/2026 09:17

Now I’m all for people wearing what they want but I do think there is a time and a place. My husband was in the health club last night relaxing in the jacuzzi when a group of young women in their early 20s wearing bikinis that left little to the imagination (think thong bottoms and boobs barely covered) started parading around. They came into the jacuzzi which I know they’re entitled to do, however 2 sat next to him and 2 directly facing. It’s quite a big jacuzzi so they had no need to sit where they did. He was the only male in. He felt he had no option to leave as this made him feel quite uncomfortable. Now I may be unreasonable in my thinking but I do think if the shoe was on the other foot and a male was to strut around the poolside in a thong or a group of men where to sit in an empty jacuzzi in close proximity to a female complaints would be made.

The thing is, the OP has made a provocative post, using very loaded language, which some might struggle to believe to be a fair and accurate account of the situation.
The idea of a group of young women rubbing their bodies to deliberately be sexually provocative to a 60 year old man, does stretch credulity. So posters suspect the OP (or her husbands) to be coming from a place of anti woman bias.
This is excercebated by the OPs determination to make this about percieved double standards towards men, and imply men are equal victims of sexually predatory behaviour from women as vice versa. To try this on a forum dominated by women who know this isn't the case, is a bit insulting to intelligence for one thing. And the anti woman sentiments don't sit right with a lot of women, for another.
For this reason, the push back has inevitably been strong. But a dislike for and strong reaction to anti woman bias shouldn't be confused with hatred of men.

I’m loving how some are assuming his age….

Some guy last night was trying to suggest women buy sex at an equal rate to men and was accusing us of being Man Haters (TM) for saying they didn't.

I'm starting to suspect an orchestrated campaign here. Did we take the piss out of Reddit recently?

wrongthinker · 20/02/2026 19:41

So you don't agree? So if you were teaching kids about privacy and consent, you'd say arses are fair game, no different than elbows or knees? Certainly not 'gross' or uncomfortable to be a child surrounded by naked arses?

Again, they weren’t naked.

HighLadyofTheNightCourt · 20/02/2026 19:54

ThatCyanCat · 20/02/2026 19:49

Yeah, but we already have a world where women are judged and traduced and criticised and made responsible for everything, including your husband, so you don't need to worry about that.

It is in fact so much the case that anyone who doesn't think your husband is a victim of terrible sexual aggression because women existed in clothes he didn't like is a Man Hater (TM). Makes you wonder how they rule the world...

Exactly.

I think it's weird that people have read the OP in this way. I don't think the language was loaded at all.

I can absolutely understand what she described and am familiar with the kind of behaviour. Maybe the women were enjoying feeling that they were embarrassing a man. Maybe they were oblivious to him and were simply enjoying their 'sexy' time in the public spa. As many pp pointed out themselves, they wear thongs to 'feel sexy'. So they are going out in public to feel sexy, regardless of other people's right to a peaceful experience.

If it were men doing that, it would absolutely be seen as creepy.

For you and other pp to assume that the only way this post could be true is if OP is actually lying and her husband is a vile pervert seems twisted to me. Like you are desperate to fit everything into your ideology.

Maybe 'man hating' isn't the best description, because it is also used as an insult when women are making reasonable points about men's behaviour. But certainly 'concerned with fitting everything into a narrative that makes men the eternal villains and women the eternal victims' would fit many of the comments on this post.

Scottishlassie10 · 20/02/2026 19:47

I have no issue with anyone disagreeing with my opinion. It would be a boring world if we all agreed. I do take issue though with my husband being labelled a perv, getting aroused etc. Surely the mere fact he removed himself proves otherwise.

It's his language and descriptions prior to removing himself that is the problem. 'Parading, strutting, rubbing breasts and arses'.

Most unpervy men would just say God I was enjoying a solo jacuzzi when a load of people came and ruined the peace. That's all he had to say. No need for breast rubbing salacious tales.

wrongthinker · 20/02/2026 19:59

HighLadyofTheNightCourt · 20/02/2026 19:54

How not? a thong shows off your entire arse except, hopefully, your arsehole.

Indeed. It was the very loaded language. Told in this way, she would have got a lot more support.

why? Why not older women Mid 50s inspire younger women to humility, chastity and respect

Nobody’s saying they are disrespectful they just wore bikinis! We don’t live in the dark ages!!

But it's you who have decided the language is a problem, that it's gendered and loaded. I think it's just descriptive. If he'd said they were 'soaping their nubile bodies' or some such thing, I'd have taken issue with that. But it was literally a description of what they were doing.

If I described a man parading and strutting around, rubbing his crotch, would you have jumped on me for my use of language? It's just a bullshit excuse to have a go at OP.

Right, right. So that's the line you've drawn then. It's not a bare arse unless you can see the arsehole. Everyone take note. Tell your children to stop clutching their pearls and being prudes.

We’re literally talking about women wearing swimwear at a swimming pool.
If you don’t like the style they are wearing then that is your prerogative. But they weren’t naked so stop pretending they were

Many of us have said the language is the problem. You are being incredibly disingenuous to suggest that men are described as strutting and parading in the same sneery exist way.

It isnt 'bullshit way to have a go at the pp'. Her and her creepy dh really need to stop judging women harshly and if they can't cope with thongs then avoid the jacuzzi.

ThatCyanCat · 20/02/2026 20:08

Of course it was loaded language, "parading" and "strutting", and now I read it again, I notice two things: one, that the OP doesn't focus on his experience but is actually all geared towards complaining about the famous imaginary "double standards" in which women hold all power and men are endlessly victimised, and two: the salacious tit and arse rubbing doesn't occur until the second post; in the first one, our hero left when they paraded and strutted into the jacuzzi.

That’s because his age is irrelevant. I don’t see what difference it makes.

i have a 12 year old...I don't allow leggins in the crack or crop tops, yet all her class mates have been doing it from younger ages, encouraged by their mothers to even go to school with mini skirts practicing for secondary ...this nation is gone to batshit bonkers.

This in my house too. Well done on your sensible parenting (IMO)

In my first post I said that discomfort at seeing more than you're used to of other people's bodies is not unreasonable. I've also said nothing at all about the OPs husband, so to accuse me of being 'desperate to fit everything into my ideology' seems to me that you're seeing what you want to argue against rather than what I actually said.
I have said the account stretches credulity. Because it stretches mine.
However my main point was to note that the OP is not here without an agenda of her own. She is here to stir up anti women sentiment. It would be double standards to call posters man haters without acknowledging that.

Omg. I feel like I've wandered into a parallel universe where a bunch of MRAs are pretending to be feminists in order to discredit women and make us look stupid and infantile.

It's so weird how you all copy each other's phrases as well. And have to all respond to the same comments of mine, all in the same way.

I don't think nipples are the same no.

I don't want to see anyone's full arse cheeks whilst in a pool setting male or female!
