None of the parties support or speak for the common man. They all universally despise the working class.

Rupert has done more than any of the other parties to highlight the abuse of British girls by "grooming gangs".

Except that he has done that by studiously ignoring all inconvenient facts, such as the fact that many members of those gangs are British born and bred.

Do you think that premiership footballers came to Britain illegally in small boats and were housed in hotels prior to getting their contracts with their clubs?

You make no distinction between anyone who lives and works here who wasn't born here and you think people who support Reform are stupid and racist?

Don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of either Farage or this other guy but the snobbery and viciousness of the Mumsnet class about ordinary working-class people's concerns is so vile that I don't blame anyone for voting for them.

Reform and Lowe's new even more right wing party are not parties for ordinary working class people though, they are Parties run by and for rich people exploiting poorer people's anxieties.
I was born and brought up in a council house, my family is firmly working class, I resent the implication that all working class people are concerned about is immigration and therefore drawn towards these far right parties. Most of us are not.
Most of us are much too intelligent to be taken in by the rhetoric and more concerned about the price of food and rent to worry about the very small number of asylum seekers.
Besides latest numbers actually suggest we could have negative migration soon anyway and we will probably have to beg people to come over here.

PickAChew · 15/02/2026 13:07

What's his new party, again? Refurbish? Recycle?

WeepingAngelInTheTardis · 15/02/2026 13:09

Many, many people are going towards lowe. Hes more honest than Farage.

How far back in time does Lowe's interest in the abuse of girls go? I suspect he's a Johnny-come-lately.

I heard him being interviewed on someone's podcast and he kept referring to Angela Rayner as 'Big Ange' in a mocking manner - he sounded very disrespectful and sexist.

Repulsive? Repugnant? Retrograde?

Or just keep it simple and call it the Racist Party?

I believe he's backed by Musk. I might be wrong though - but Musk apparently thinks NF is too soft. Says it all.

That's great - except I get the impression he's only done that because the story suits his arguably racist narrative. I'm not sure he really cares about the women and girls, more about sticking it to the brown men.

I'm as working class as they come. Don't lump me in with the xenophobic, racist, misogynistic roundabout painters.

The UK takes in fewer asylum seekers/illegal immigrants than any other EU country. Our issues are caused by the very people who now claim they want into Government to "fix" things.

I absolutely do blame anyone who plans to vote for them.

Exactly. Those types are unbelievably patronising towards the working class with their paternalistic regressive bullshit. They want to own people like a commodity. Disgusting.

Terrifying. But it will be good if they can split the vote. Hopefully that will finish off both parties. And the other one -Advance UK?

I am firmly clinging to the hope that they will all destroy each other.

Except that he has done that by studiously ignoring all inconvenient facts, such as the fact that many members of those gangs are British born and bred.

Im no fan of Reform and agree that their main focus is on making the rich richer but I am also a bit sick of people on the progressive establishment side parroting things like this, or saying “ white Brits abuse girls too”. The grooming/ rape gangs involve mainly the systematic, organised abuse of children over the span of decades, aided and abetted by useful idiots in social services and police and are overwhelmingly made up of networks of men of Pakistani heritage.
The victims have been let down by the authorities time and again, which is why people like Lowe can use the righteous anger of ordinary people to further his own ends.
Also, I don’t think most people are only concerned with illegal immigration. After Brexit (caused by Farage) the government allowed record numbers of immigrants in through legal channels and this has caused problems for many communities across the uk. Again, the main parties pretending this isn’t a problem opens the door for extremists.

BeGentleMentor · 15/02/2026 13:21

IdentityCris · 15/02/2026 13:01

Asylum seekers have not come here illegally. You must know that if you have been on MN any length of time; after all, someone patiently explains it on every immigration-related thread. So why do you repeat something you must know to be false?

Equally if you think being housed 6 to a room in a former B&B hotel is the height of luxury, you have strange standards.

As for "You make no distinction between anyone who lives and works here who wasn't born here and you think people who support Reform are stupid and racist?" - what is that sentence supposed to mean? What distinction are we supposed to make, and between whom? If Reform voters want their views to be considered seriously, they need to try to write coherently, at the very least.

Asylum seekers are here illegally.

It is a criminal offence to enter the UK without a visa where one is required.

It's why small boat arrival asylum seekers are arrested and questioned on entry.

Sskka · 15/02/2026 13:22

I’d love to see Lowe do it, but I’m still agog at seeing the old order destroyed by an insurgent party – to see that insurgent party destroyed by a different insurgent party, all within the space of a single parliament, is almost unimaginable to me.

But then that’s the sort of thing that happens in a revolution so it’s not entirely impossible.

Freysimo · 15/02/2026 12:38

Rupert has done more than any of the other parties to highlight the abuse of British girls by "grooming gangs".

Has he done anything to highlight other forms of abuse and exploitation of British girls? Our shockingly low rape conviction rates, the footballers who walked away consequence free, the % of women who, if surveyed would say they'd experienced harassment, the way school girls groomed by teachers are described, the number of calls to abortion providers about young teen girls pregnant due to abuse...

If he only cares about the safety of girls when the abuser is Muslim, it's not the safety of women and girls he cares about

The issue with people like Lowe is that they tend not to care about any of the issues which they're happy wave around like a red rag to whip up the masses into anger. They just don't care. All authoritarians/ extremists of any shade are after is domination and power. If we give them the keys, not only will they not solve any of the problems that working people have been complaining about but they'll use their power to intimidate and crush opposition. Populists only know how to divide and rule. They can't care less about social cohesion and culture! The choice is between liberal democratic parties and feudal absolutists.

It is a criminal offence to enter the UK without a visa where one is required.

It's why small boat arrival asylum seekers are arrested and questioned on entry.

It’s not illegal to seek asylum in the UK.

Asylum seekers are generally not prosecuted for illegal entry if they claim asylum immediately upon arrival.

There is no current legal visa route to claim asylum in the UK, from outside of the UK.

Hope any of the above helps.
