Lied to get a jab now friend is angry

I don’t understand why my friend is annoyed at me as it doesn’t effect anyone else.. part of me thinks it’s jealousy but she’s not speaking to me because I told her how I managed to lose 1.5stone.
backstory- I lied to get an online prescription by saying I was about 1.5stone heavier than I was then when I needed to send photos I just made my scales say more to match the weight I submitted. Not exactly a difficult lie but it worked and I’ve had 2pens of mounjaro 2.5 and I’m now 8.5stone. I feel great, the size I want to be and no side effects so yes I feel smug that my lie worked and I lost the weight easy.
well my friend who has been trying to lose weight too but not via jabs is furious saying I should be ashamed of myself.
surely it doesn’t effect anyone else? I paid full price so can’t be blamed for stealing from the nhs

This has dangerous written all over it so if my friend deliberately did this yes I would lose contact as I couldn't stay friends with someone that would do something so irresponsible and shows they have zero self respect, i wouldn't have a go i would just stop contact

And no there is nothing to be smug or jealous of just pity really

I’d be irritated with you as well. I’d hate to think my friend had put herself at risk to get prescription medication. I’d especially hate that my friend was deceitful.

Why you’re not entitled to know anyone’s medication. It’d kind of arrogant to decide you are.

Yeah I have friends doing this very thing- they look like something out of Bergen Belsen. It is horrifying. They are freezing cold and have aged at least 10 years

Miaow.

How did you make the scales heavier????

I have manual scales like the ones in a lot of doc offices. You have to use the dial at the bottom to balance it to zero - so you can make yourself seem heavier and lighter as you need, too.

This. How‘s your sarcopenia doing? Losing weight by jabs makes you lose lean mass as well as fat. Your friend sounds sensible and doesn’t want to be associated with a liar.

Foodylicious · 13/02/2026 21:46

So, only you know if 8.5 on you at 5ft 6in is healthy or not.
We all know the BMI is a bit of a shit tool, but this does put you close to the lower limit, before being underweight.

I suspect your friend is pissed off as she likely thought you were 'in it together' trying to lose weight, and will feel that you have been lying to her (by ommison) the last couple of months.
And she's not wrong really.

You could say its no ones business but your own, but its going to feel crap to her if you have been having conversations about weight loss and it being hard to eat right etc.

Skinny people always look older.

It does not. I can’t imagine being so shallow as to cut a friend off. Bloody stupid. This has got to be one of the most bizarre threads I’ve read!

Skinny people always look older.

I actuality disagree with that, I think a matronly bust and big belly with double chins and a fat face is much more ageing, but then define skinny, of it’s underweight, then I think it also can be ageing, as overweight is. But a healthy weight, even at the low end of bmi is always much more youthful.

Economicsday · 13/02/2026 21:28

None of her business and she's no friend to be giving you a hard time on your medical choices.

Good riddance would be my view.

this. Regardless of whether you should do it or not, its not her business or up to her to judge. She doesn't sound like much of a friend to me.

thenightsky · 13/02/2026 21:14

I used to work with inpatient anorexics when I was a student nurse. They used to load with water and put weights in their underwear.

1.5 stones is a lot of water to drink and weights in your underwear

I'd assume she was just holding a 10kg weight or a loaded backpack

LadyCrustybread · 13/02/2026 21:52

If you’re down to 8.5 stone using just 2 2.5 pens then that suggests you added a fair bit more than 1.5st to reach the required BMI.

Bruisername · 13/02/2026 21:54

I think it’s pretty obvious why she’s annoyed!

you both decided to lose weight and you didn’t tell her about the jabs. So she must have thought your will power was amazing and probably was beating herself up about why she couldn’t do it by dieting as you could

its like your friend getting a better time in the marathon and then finding they used an electric scooter halfway

CombatBarbie · 13/02/2026 21:57

Possiges · 13/02/2026 21:08

How did you make the scales heavier????

Pretty easily done, pick a dog up or a kettle bell or a toddler.....

whynotwhatknot · 13/02/2026 21:59

you know you cant just sotp these jabs you'll just put it on its addictive

sh probably thought you were doing well and is shocked that it is essentially cheating

Tiswa · 13/02/2026 22:00

Surely the issue isn’t that you have taken the jab but that you lied and implied that you didn’t and that you managed through hard work what she wasn’t able to

and now she has found out that actually your smugness was because you lied and cheated

yeah it is the equilvalent of Ben Johnson winning Olympic gold

Why? It’s 19 pounds, you get 5 weeks out of each pen. If you use the additional dose, it’s about 2 lbs a week.

cheating, they weren’t in competition,

Rayqueen2026 · 13/02/2026 22:02

Ye it would be the fact your a lier I wouldn't want you as a friend

HeartyBlueRobin · 13/02/2026 22:03

Grammarnut · 13/02/2026 21:26

But you haven't taught your body to adjust its food intake. And lying to get a prescription of something like mounjaro is dangerous. The doses are set for your weight, I think, and if you are less heavy than you said you may be taking too large a dose.
I hope you keep the weight off. But your friend is losing weight the sensible way, presumably at the rate of about a 1lb a week. That will lead to sustainable weight loss if you have done it by changing your eating habits.
You are a bit smug - I think that's what sticks in your friend's craw.

The doses are not set for your weight.

In the UK patients start on the lowest dose regardless of their current weight and move up after a minimum of 4 weeks if they need to. Often patients stay low for much longer than the trials suggested.

Backfromthebrink · 13/02/2026 22:03

I used MJ legitimately for weight loss and successfully achieved my target weight. Was open about using jabs and had some very bitchy reactions from so called friends, all of whom were women, some slim and some overweight themselves. It’s amazing how changing your appearance can get such mixed reactions from people who should be pleased for you! I put it down to sour grapes from the women who had secretly enjoyed having a “fat friend” and jealousy from those who couldn’t get motivated to lose weight and make the change themselves! Mind you, great way to find out who your friends are!

SaturdayFive · 13/02/2026 22:04

Nothing to stop her doing the same. As you say you've not stolen anything. Why was she nosing in your fridge? Medication is private.

Berlinlover · 13/02/2026 22:04

You need to show a photo of yourself standing on the scales though so that wouldn't work.
