Lied to get a jab now friend is angry

Cantkeepaname · 13/02/2026 20:59

I don’t understand why my friend is annoyed at me as it doesn’t effect anyone else.. part of me thinks it’s jealousy but she’s not speaking to me because I told her how I managed to lose 1.5stone.
backstory- I lied to get an online prescription by saying I was about 1.5stone heavier than I was then when I needed to send photos I just made my scales say more to match the weight I submitted. Not exactly a difficult lie but it worked and I’ve had 2pens of mounjaro 2.5 and I’m now 8.5stone. I feel great, the size I want to be and no side effects so yes I feel smug that my lie worked and I lost the weight easy.
well my friend who has been trying to lose weight too but not via jabs is furious saying I should be ashamed of myself.
surely it doesn’t effect anyone else? I paid full price so can’t be blamed for stealing from the nhs

You need to show a photo of yourself standing on the scales though so that wouldn't work.

Showing yourself on the scales and the weight is impossible?? Surely its lower body showing feet and scales

yes, but you also need to show full body pics, in tight clothes, front on and side view,

pollypocketdoll · 13/02/2026 22:08

I think being ‘furious’ is a bit extreme, but it is a little irritating. At least you admitted it to her - I have a close friend who recently lost weight very quickly (think 2 stone in as many months) and won’t admit she’s using jabs, even though she blatantly is.

It sounds petty and it’s none of my business - but we all know how hard it is to lose weight the natural way…

SilenceInside · 13/02/2026 22:11

I imagine the OP won’t be back again now she’s kicked off this thread…

it doesn’t affect your friend, but it sounds like her view of you has changed. You don’t sound that bothered by that or by this friendship so maybe it’s a good time to step away and find people with a similar mindset to you.

Alpacajigsaw · 13/02/2026 22:12

YABU

its people like you abusing it who risk making it more difficult for people who actually need it for medical reasons and not just vanity to get. I’m with your friend and would tell you exactly what I think of you. These drugs are serious medications not just for vanity

LadyCrustybread · 13/02/2026 22:14

Frenchfrychic · 13/02/2026 22:00

Why? It’s 19 pounds, you get 5 weeks out of each pen. If you use the additional dose, it’s about 2 lbs a week.

Because 8.5st at 5’6 is a BMI of 18.9. At 10st (19lbs more) she would be BMI 22.6. You need a BMI of 30 to get the jab (27 for some ethnicities).

So she would need to have said she was 13.5 stone to get her BMI up to 30. That is 5.5st up from her current weight. Take 1.5st off the 13.5st (which is what OP said she added to her actual weight) and she would be 12st. 3.5st more than her current weight.

Losing 3.5st in 10 weeks would require a loss of 49lbs (4.9lbs a week). Thats a caloric deficit of 17,000 calories a week (more than most women eat in a week on maintenance).

So unless OP has been eating nothing at all for 10 week she was not 12st to begin with and has therefore added a lot more than 1.5st to her original weight.

Lying to get prescribed medication is unbelievably stupid.

No, it's totally believably stupid.

lol this is my sister in law. Dropped about four stone in as many months (may be a slight exaggeration but it was drastic in a very short space of time). “Oh the weight has just fallen off really I don’t really know why 😁 oh no I’d NEVER take the jabs” tinkly laugh.

Pickledpoppetpickle · 13/02/2026 22:18

But your friend is losing weight the sensible way, presumably at the rate of about a 1lb a week. That will lead to sustainable weight loss if you have done it by changing your eating habits

sensible way? Personally been on wlis for 6 months, Lost about 4lbs a month. Why is my 4lbs not sustainable, with massively changed eating habits (because it doesn’t just magically disappear the fat, you still need to diet and exercise) but it is sustainable losing the same amount without the injections? You know studies have shown that weight goes back on at roughly the same rate regardless of your method of loss?

Edited

OK but why is it your business? She doesn’t have to tell you what meds she is taking or put herself out there for people to judge and be nasty about because you feel she should.

Did people genuinely not know the extent to which people are lying to get these jabs? Like really?

I haven’t asked her, to be fair 🤷🏻‍♀️

Miaow.

Miaow maybe. But i have also seen two colleagues recently who I literally started to worry might've had cancer, but it turns out both were using jabs. They had lost fat from their faces and had sunken eyes and jutting collarbones, it wasn't anything like "normal" weight loss. They weren't even "fat" to begin with. Their perogetive i guess, but i'm not going to pretend they look healthy. It is conserning.

ISpyNoPlumPie · 13/02/2026 22:22

MaggieBsBoat · 13/02/2026 21:25

Good for you OP! I bet you look and feel gorgeous.

Oh yeah…it’s just so gorgeous to be skinny!

I will say, it’s so much nicer if you can just be skinny by just being skinny. Much cheaper too!! Ha ha ha!

Is this smug enough to join in?

Dunnocantthinkofone · 13/02/2026 22:23

there have always been been vain, stupid, insecure people who think it’s clever to play Russian roulette with their health just to obtain a cheats way to what they perceive as a win.
They deserve our pity as well as our judgement. It’s pathetic

CombatBarbie · 13/02/2026 22:24

Frenchfrychic · 13/02/2026 22:07

yes, but you also need to show full body pics, in tight clothes, front on and side view,

Everyone carries weight different, 1.5 stone isnt a huge amount to lie about, if it were 3 stone id see your point. But I dont do WLI either, I was just answering a query

Francezi · 13/02/2026 22:26

I don't have first hand experience, but whatever the OP's situation, the astonishing POVs on this thread shows precisely why people using WLI might go to whatever lengths they need to, to avoid having to confront all the nastiness and judgement.

I haven't heard a meaningful conversation irl about WLI, with friends/family/whatever, so my exposure to it tends to be on these threads. The fact that it all usually descends into fairly unpleasant batshittery underscores my own POV that keeping it secret is completely understandable.

Skinny people always look older.

They really do!’

MusicWasMyFirstLove · 13/02/2026 22:29

If you're taking medication without needing it, you could be damaging your body.

These jabs are relatively new and still experimental.

The risk is only worth taking if not taking them puts your life at greater risk (of stroke, heart attack, diabetes, etc.)

You're playing with fire and it may come back to bite you.

Coconutter24 · 13/02/2026 22:29

50Balesofgrey · 13/02/2026 21:16

Well nobody likes or respects a fucking liar.

Maybe OP just didn’t mention the jabs but then again it’s absolutely no one’s business but OPs

Wambamaloomaawambamboo · 13/02/2026 22:30

Grammarnut · 13/02/2026 21:26

But you haven't taught your body to adjust its food intake. And lying to get a prescription of something like mounjaro is dangerous. The doses are set for your weight, I think, and if you are less heavy than you said you may be taking too large a dose.
I hope you keep the weight off. But your friend is losing weight the sensible way, presumably at the rate of about a 1lb a week. That will lead to sustainable weight loss if you have done it by changing your eating habits.
You are a bit smug - I think that's what sticks in your friend's craw.

Everyone starts on the same dose regardless of what they weigh

pollypocketdoll · 13/02/2026 22:32

I mean, how much do we know about -

  1. the health implications for those who aren’t obese or even overweight who take them?

  2. what happens when people come off the jabs?

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/02/2026 22:32

Ya gotta do what ya gotta do, I guess. 🤷‍♀️
Good for you for losing weight. I don't really I ow much about the injections, but I hope your weight loss will remain.
Ignore your friend and just remember she's not one to confide in.

Isittimeformynapyet · 13/02/2026 22:16

I’m internally smug- from the outside I have kept it quiet. She only found out cos she was looking in my fridge. The reaction I got I thought she had found crack in there

Just one thing OP... how come the pens were still in your fridge for your friend to find, if you'd already used them to lose the weight?
