Im not sure Ive seen this before, not sure how Ive missed it

I commented to dh that 99% of the winter sports seem pretty risky!

I thought the luge was mad enough. But the skeleton is even madder!

The commentator said 80mph, is that right?

Also, just googling this, Im reading that the luge is even faster, so I can relax, this is no big deal in comparison!!!

It’s frightening but how is it even a sport? It’s a big slide?

I’m watching. Part of me thinks it would be fun, but then I see the speed they are going at and suspect I would end up with a broken neck! Love the moustachioed German guy who looks like a WW1 flying ace.

I wish the commentators would stop hyping up the British guy - they always do this with the Brits who then end up coming fourth!

The Winter Olympics does seem to have a high level of sport that could cause death or serious injury!

I reckon they have to fiddle the sound because the competitors are going 'weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee' all the way down.

In fact they get extra points for doing that in one breath.

We were saying this last night, I think it’s why I enjoy it so much - not because I want to see anyone hurt themselves obviously but it’s quite thrilling and invigorating to watch!
Currently watching it and agree it’s just a mad sport, terrifying and exciting - imagine the adrenaline from throwing yourself down there 😱

The winter Olympics is so perilous, I LOVE it! Its terrifying and exhilarating from my comfy sofa. I am so glad DC never did any winter sports.

I am always amazed its less popular than the regular olympics when it so much more extraordinary?

There's no youth pathway, they're often poached from athletics (long jump, sprint events) as they need to run fast at the start.

How on earth do you decide that’s your sport? I understand winning races at school sports day, joining an athletics club and seeing where it takes you. But who wakes up one morning (and at what age) and decides what they’re best in the world at, is throwing themselves round sheet ice at 80mph?

This makes sense as so much of it seems to be about who can get the quickest start. I wonder how the British guys train - presumably abroad as there wouldn’t be the facilities in the UK?

I don’t which way is worst, why anyone thinks going fast on a tea tray is a good idea I’ll never know
